How to determine a web site is a high quality guest blogging web site?
-
Hi,
I would like to do guest blogging on the quality web sites, the problem is how can I decide they are good quality web sites?
for example:
1)ehow.com
all of the above are PR 4 or higher.
Thanks

I'd look at what is posted on those sites. Are they posting quality information? Is the information relevant to your topic? Do their guidelines mention any quality control process?

Keri/DragonSearch,
Thanks for the information. I have two purpose to do the guest blogging in these web sites:
-
Get some traffic from these sites: for example, ehow has an alexa index of 323, there are lots of traffic there. I hope people read the article may also click on my backlink.
-
I hope there are some SEO benefit from these web sites, but I am not sure. in the past, most of article directories don't control the article quality and got punished by Google. Later some of the article directories clean it up and add quality control, I think those article directories which add quality control may have some SEO effort, but I don't know which article directories. hope somebody can point it out.
Thanks

I agree with Keri. Why not looking for some guest blogging opportunities. Try this out - do the following search in Google:
[subject of choice] + intitle:"write for us" or [subject of choice] + intitle:"guest post"
For example, if I was looking to write on recycling I would do the following search:
recycling + intitle:"write for us"
With a little digging some great opportunities should pop up! ^Caitlin

I honestly wouldn't go for any of them. If I were going to post on a site other than my own site, I'd look for something in my field where there would be visitors that are actually interested in my niche. Do it for the readers, not for the search engines.
Would you go to one of the above sites on your own if you were not guest posting there? If one of the above sites got hit in an algorithm update, or chose to nofollow their links, would you still want the post there?

PR4 blog but no data in OSE?
I've recently been asked to guest post on a site that appears to be PR4 but when checking the sites authority on OSE no data shows up. The site is http://www.osozo.com. I'm looking for opinions really, first of all on how it can be PR4 but OSE has no data on it and secondly whether it's a good site for me to post on? Any help much appreciated!

Guest Posts on Established Blogger/Wordpress.com sites
How much value do you put on guest post opportunities on blogspot.com or wordpress.com sites (or similar). If the blog is established, gets good readership and traffic, do you consider it to be as useful as a privately hosted blog? I'm not really looking for a definitive answer here, just people's thoughts. Cheers, Bede

New Blog
Hello, We have an online soccer equipment retail store (http://www.soccerstop.com) that we have been working on to get higher ranking results in many different areas of specific product pages, as well as our general homepage for several years. SeoMoz has been an excellent addition for us to learn and analyze, etc. In addition to our current PPC, and SEO efforts, we are going to create a blog as we have many thoughts, opinions and interesting information for what hopefully will be a good sized audience of soccer enthusiasts! We currently have a person who goes on other soccer blogger websites and offers our thoughts and expressions, but we now want to give our own blog. My thought is to create a subdirectory of our domain something like: http://www.soccerstop.com/blog as that seems what is recommended in many posts here in this forum. I am also thinking of using wordpress blog as it also seems recommended. We have a lot of ideas about content, and feel we will bring people to our blog in various ways through our existing and coming customers at the retail online store. However, it seems to get the best backlink performance possible out of our new blog, we need to join blog networks to get our blogs posted on outside third party websites. Is this right, and where would I begin to understand and start this process? I understand the first step is to get our blog started, but I want to foundationally have an idea where we are going with this as we build. This way it is built in a sound way, ready to be as effective as possible! Please understand I am a builder and not the blogger, which is why the structure and initial setup of syndication is so important to me! Thanks for any advice.

Is it a bad idea to build unique sites to build credibility for your main site?
It is hard to sum up the question in one line, but basically my company has bought several descriptive domains that we would like to build out into microsites that link back to our main site. For example...say we are a florist. Our main site talks about all the different kinds of flowers we have and the work we do. So the idea is to buy weddingflowersdallas.com (example only...) and have a mini site that has the same look and feel as our main site, but has unique content that talks solely about our wedding flower business and has a few links back to our main site. 1. Is this a no no from a google perspective? 2. Is this a good strategy in general? Thanks, David

Linkbuilding in unrelated blogs
Does google penalize you for linkbuilding in blogs that are non related to the topic of your website? Are there any positive benefits to link building in unrelated blogs?
