My website which was launched back in September 2013, after a few months it was ranking second page for some of the most competitive keywords. It was all because of some good quality guest posts from PostJoint. After a few months, the website was ranking on 16th page of Google, then 20th page, then 25th and now nowhere!! I agree that majority of the guest postings of PostJoint were blakchat. For this reason I have now disavowed all domains where I had guest posting done from PostJoint.
My questions:
1. Is my website affected by Penguin, Panda etc? (There was no manual penalty though)
2. My website is nowhere even for "My Company Name", this is a shame, I have to run a PPC campaign in order to get the traffic where visitors were typing our company name in Google.
3. What are the remedies? I can't afford to start a new domain, because the domain has been advertised heavily (offline marketing etc). Please let me know your thoughts, Thanks in advance!

Has your traffic also dropped? Are you searching in an incognito browser, to try to minimize any personalization?
Without knowing your URL, it's a little difficult to diagnose.

Hi Keri,
Many Thanks for the response, Yes the website is indexed and I can see the pages indexed in Google and also if I search for "mycompany" without spaces it appears right at the top, but the problem is why its not coming up with spaces?

If you search site:domain.com in Google do you show up? Do you show up in Bing?
First step is making sure you're still indexed, and it's not something where there's accidentally a robots.txt involved.

1 Business 2 websites: NAP issue?
I'm taking on a client who has two websites, one for auto sales side and the other for auto repair. We're taking on the auto repair site. They both share the same business name, address and phone number. Do you foresee any NAP errors if we direct all the directories to the auto repair site?

Decent SERP site sending 1000's of links to your website?
I've spent most of this summer trying to clean up my link profile, most links I've never requested myself, they just appear. Here's a question, www.allworldlinks.com appear to have a decent page authority but they are bombarding my site with hundreds of links, I now have over 12,000 from them. This is not good I guess?

Struggling to re-rank website
A client of ours - www.helenbattphotography.com - was ranking well for local keywords. However, the rankings started to drop as of January this year (slowly) and quite considerably since May. We have not had any Google penalties. To date we have gone through backlinks and removed a few low quality/dubious links that were built around 5 years ago by another agency the client was using and also disavowed some others. This was done around 2 months ago. No impact to date. The website is hovering around page 4 and 5 for the keywords that it used to rank for on page 1 for. We are really struggling to increase the rankings for this client. We have introduced good, unqiue content to the site - not that this was ever really a problem on the site - but this has also made little difference. Would be great to get some feedback on the site and any obvious pointers that we might be missing here - a case of not being able to see the wood through the trees. Thanks

New website, small business, niche market --- what's my best link building strategy?
Hi everyone, We are a small company manufacturing a niche product (indoor playground equipment), our new English website (www.funlandiaplaygrounds.com) has just been launched 2 months ago, before that we didn't even have a website in English. As the international sales manager of such a small company, I have to do all the international marketing jobs including SEO, but before this I'm almost a noob on SEO. I've just started the linking building work for our website, after a research on the links of our highest ranked competitors, I have found out that almost ALL of the external links of them come from directories and purchased links, many links are very dubious, please see the open explorer results below: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?page=1&site=www.spiplay.co.uk&sort=page_authority&filter=&source=&target=page&group=1 http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=www.softplay.com%2F http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links.html?page=1&site=www.china-cheer.com&sort=page_authority&filter=&source=&target=page&group=1 http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aileplay.com%2F http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=internationalplayco.com%2F The search keywords is: indoor playground equipment. According to the latest SEO theory and numerous posts I've read here, links from these directories carry very low value, and solely relying on these links may even cause penalty to the website, but the reality is, all these competitors rank on the top as a result of these "spammy" links. For example this website www.aileplay.com that has the highest PA of 64 and rank on the first page on the search result of indoor playground equipment, has tons of spammy links. That is the situation we are facing now, then my questions is: As a small business in such a niche market, what is our best strategy to rank well in a reasonable time, say 3 months to 6 months? I do not think our competitors are very strong and hard to beat, I believe we will beat them in content creation for sure, but what should we do in link building? should we start to get directory links now, as it obviously works for them? Or should we first create more attractive content, then use these content to get natural links BEFORE we submit for directory, as recommended by most link experts here? If so should we just sit back doing nothing before the link worthy content is created and natural links starts to come in? I highly appreciate any comments! DSG_clan

Linking between your own websites- yay or nay?
Hi Guys I have 4 different niche websites in the healthcare area and wondering is it a safe strategy to link between them? I'm not sure if this is frowned upon by the search engines. I have heard the term 'link wheel', but I'm not sure if this is what a link wheel would be. I do have 2 sites that are much more important than the other 2. One is a directory of practitioners and the other is my main site of my healthcare business. The 2 other websites are smaller niche markets that I also service. My directory was previously hurt by the Penguin update because I was using Linkvana and blog networks and the anchor text was too specific. I have discontinued using any blog networks or 'quick link' strategies. I'm now implementing a guest posting strategy on reputable websites. I want to do everything buy the book now and thought I should check before any new linking strategy. Thanks in advance! Clinton

Maintaining a Network of Websites
Hello, My question is regarding networks of websites. Right now I have over 150 websites that I bought of the auction houses. They are all sitting on the same GoDaddy account. Most of them have different C-Class IP's. I think I have around 55 different ones. So my question is, does it matter if they are all under one GoDaddy account? Does this have any negative impact on my rankings. And also, how can I upload content to all of the websites quickly, instead of having to login constantly to every single on of them. I use these websites of course to rank a few main websites, I have a client, and I began first using blogrolls to send links to him, and recently I started using actualy content links since I've read here that is a lot more powerful.

Internal Linking for Newspaper Websites
Now, there are a number of do's and dont's when it comes to internal linking, but do those rules apply to news websites that have to interlink relevant news stories, primarily based on their relevancy to the user and the value that they have to provide rather than keeping the idea of page rank sculpting in mind? What's your take on this?
