Adding Quality Backlinks
-
Without sounding like an idiot, what are the best ways in adding good quality back links. There are websites out there such as Click Submit but from experience they just link from weird URL's and the links are in comments.
In an ideal world starting up my own Blogs and building up a good domain authority would work best but the customer would like some back links adding by next week.
Using local directories wouldn't really work for their business so if anyone has any idea's I would love to hear them.

Thanks! Stability and success go hand-in-hand. It's all about the long-term goal.
You're correct with that finding - 33% of people will only click a link in Google's top three organic results.

That is a brilliant quote LJ I may have to use that in the future, the problem with customers who want organic SEO is that they want to see immediate results but with organic SEO I always find that it is more of a long term investment.
I find that most people tend to trust the organic listings over paid anyway.

Brilliant thank you very much for your advice it's much appreciated.

What William has said is spot on. I'd like to add something that I tell my clients, which is if they expect results tomorrow then don't expect to have results next year.
It is vital to build up a foundation of high quality content with an interested audience, this is the key to modern day SEO. Linkbacks need to look natural, not paid for, software generated or anything similar. Google will be able to tell when you have an unnatural influx of links and they will penalise your site for it. You might see some instant results, but you can be sure they won't be long lasting. Explain to your client that it's vital to only use futureproof techniques.

It sounds like your client needs to be educated on how proper link building works. You can't just say, "I need good backlinks, and I need them NOW!"
In order to build good, relevant, safe backlinks, you need to create assets or other ways to attract people to share your content and build links naturally. This takes time and planning. There are quicker grey/black hat ways to build links, but this puts your client's site at risk, and your client needs to know that.
Moz recently came out with a good beginner's guide to link building. Perhaps you can pull some tidbits from that to help your client understand why his/her request is unreasonable. http://moz.com/blog/beginners-guide-to-link-building

Are backlinks in the form of Footer or Sitewide links safe?
Hi There! Some of our competitors are using sitewide links in the header, footer or sidebar…is it ok to use these type of backlinks to increase overall backlinks. The site-wide links increase backlinks dramatically. Thanks Malik Zakaria

Backlinks from subdomain, can it hurt ranking?
I just started doing an SEO audit and noticed I have 40,000 some odd back links from an OLD version of our site that has been moved to a subdomain. The back links are for articles that already exist on our main site. I don't think Google is picking it up as duplicate content because that site isn't being crawled anymore. Could this hurt us SEO wise? I plan on removing the site, but how long after it's been removed should those back links disappear?

Looking for Resources for Broken backlink Building With My Team
I've been doing some reading on broken backlink building but have not had much success with implementing a fine tuned process with my team. I've already read the moz post about broken backlink building. I've also used the www.brokenlinkbuilding.com tool by citation labs but found it to be kind of clunky. Could have just been me though : ). Any helpful resources would be appreciated to automate the process better?

Does posting on blogs with anchored backlinks do you any good?
My current strategy: I am ranking for keyword and site: Immigration Consultant I access the Fresh Web Explorer and search my keyword, then find the blogposts with High Authority where I can post using HTML and include my link in my signature, or sometimes the post has a link associated with the username. Now my question is this, does this count? will google even crawl the comments? can I aid the crawling process somehow? Any advice on creating relavent back-links is much appreciated. Thank you

Should I Just Copy A Competitor's Backlinks?
Forgive the newbie question, but now that I have found SeoMoz and OpenSiteExplorer, should I just piggy back on my competitors backlinks? What would be the downside? By way of explanation, I've never had the need to explore SEO before. Our site, Widgets.com has always ranked highly for all Widgets keywords because we have the keyword in our domain and our site has been around since 1998. But out of the blue this summer, a site, let's call them WidgetsCircus.com suddenly began outranking us on widgets keywords, and pretty much every keyword we can imagine in our little widget universe. Now that I have run OpenSiteExplorer, I can see how they've done it. They've pretty much spent the last year commenting on blog posts all over the place, editing wiki pages, etc., and built thousands of links for all these widget keywords. So, I'm wondering: why shouldn't I just go down the list of links and do exactly what they've done? Where they commented on a blog, why don't I just comment right along side them. Obviously, this has worked for them! Wouldn't it work for us too? Or is that too simple?
