Why are no-follow links in my blog comments across the web showing up as "equity-passing"?
-
When I make comments on blog posts (and there's a link in my comment or my name is the link to my site), the links are always no-follow (as they should be). But, when I check Open Site Explorer, the new links show up as equity-passing. Are they actually passing equity or is this a mistake?
-
Hi Grobro
Do you have any other links that we are counting as follow that are using the "external nofollow" tag? Our devs are trying to find a pattern to rule out the possibility of the link not set as nofollow when we originally crawled it.
-
Hi Grobro
Thank you for the example! I have our devs investigating and will let you know what I find out.
-
Yes, for example the comments on this page (selbstaendig-im-netz.de/2014/08/12/blogs/aufbau-eines-blog-business-tipps-fehler-und-erfahrungen-interview-mit-dem-affenblog) are nofollow, thats the code:
In Open Site Explorer they are listed under equity passing.
-
Hi Grobro
Can you provide me with an example?
-
Sorry for bringing up this thread again, I have the same problem. When I check the links of a competitor, it shows nofollow comments as equity passing. It seems like a mistake..
Best regards!

Hello!
A fix has been released and you should no longer see no-followed links marked as having link equity!
Thank you for pointing this out to us
-
Hello!
We have confirmed there is a front-end issue that is counting the links as followed but not from our API. We will have this patched up pretty quick!
-
Hello!
This does seem very strange as it should not be counting nofollow links. I have one of our engineers looking into this and will let you know what I find out!

Open Site Explorer external + follow links percentage
Hi how are you my root domain according to open site explorer has 90% of total links, external + follow. whereas my competitors have 5 - 6% how do I get this down to look more natural. Also what does this metric mean and how do I work out the percentage? Also I only have around 100 pages on my website which is a Shopify store and I have a small amount of internal followed links is this important for an ecommerce website as it is small number in comparison to my competitors. Thank you regards Adam

The New Link Explorer (which will replace Open Site Explorer) is Now in Beta
Howdy Moz friends, Today, the Moz team is making a new tool -- Link Explorer -- available in private beta for Moz Pro subscribers (including those taking a free trial). The tool is still a little ways out from public launch, but we wanted to get your feedback to help make it the best product it can be. What's Link Explorer? In essence, it's a replacement for Open Site Explorer (Moz's tool for link discovery, competitive analysis, and link building) that addresses many of its most pernicious challenges, such as: Daily updates - no longer will you need to wait a month or two to see a new DA score or the links you built last week. Link Explorer updates every 24 hours with all the new links we've discovered that day, and gives a new DA score each night. A MUCH bigger index - OSE has always been known for having quality links, but quantity has been an issue. No longer. The new tool's link index is more than 20 times larger than Open Site Explorer's, covering trillions of links across hundreds of billions of pages, while maintaining a focus on high quality domains and pages. Additional functionality - new graphs (like link growth over time), new charts (like gained+lost links), new filters and sorts, and some new kinds of data coming soon. Improved metrics - Domain Authority and Page Authority have both been upgraded to have better correlations with Google's rankings (and they now update every 24 hours) Insanely fast - page load times on the new tool are almost as fast as Google's results 🙂 Less time waiting means more time to dig into results Link Tracking Lists - check a box next to any links of interest and you can build lists in the tool to track them over time, see whether/when they link, prioritize your outreach efforts, and (in the future) get aggregated data and alerts about those links There's much more to come, but we'd love for you to check out Link Explorer, find bugs, report things you love (and don't), and help us make it the best possible product for you and your teams. You can leave feedback here in this Q+A thread, email [email protected], or send feedback through the feedback form in Link Explorer.

How can I get links indexed in Just Discovered Links, or Open site Explorer? (Because it aint Bit.ly or Feedly!)
Dear Moz & Forum, I've been on a bit of a merry-go-round with one of my clients. He knows enough about SEO to ask questions, and one thing he likes is to see the links that we are building inside Open Site Explorer. Now, of course we know that it takes a while for links to show, but that was ok, because we could just plug the links that we've built into a bit.ly link and then they'd show under Just Discovered Links in Open Site Explorer, and then boom, we're happy. It stopped working some time ago, and after the support team were a little unstuck I sent a hopeful tweet to @randfish. Here is the response: https://twitter.com/randfish/status/788412272129347584 The advice to use Bit.Ly was removed swiftly after this! Oops! The current Guidance is here: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/help/guides/research-tools/open-site-explorer/justdiscovered It says: Want to see your new link in the Just-Discovered Links tab? An easy way to start seeing your link in the Just-Discovered section is to have it shared on Twitter and available on Feedly link. Feedly stopped supporting their own link shortner a few years ago. Also, when you share a link from Feedly on twitter it is just the same as sharing a normal tweet, because it shares the standard URL for the site not a link to view on Feedly. Or, maybe these two statements are independant of one another and they should both be done separately? I've done that too! I've also added the feed to recommended feeds inside fresh web explorer and that didn't work either! So, Moz and Help team please help me! How can I get links I've built for clients into Just Discovered Links? Thank you!

Just Discovered Links not appearing in main index
Hi Around October, November (and ongoing since then) we had some links appear in the "just discovered" index of OSE, and yet they've never made it into the main list of domains linking to the website. We have amassed quite a few links from various domains that seem to get picked up in "Just Discovered", but not by the standard list of links to our site Is there any reason for this?

SEOmoz not showing latest backlinks
Hi, How come open site explore(come with SEOmoz tool) not showing new backlinks created by me a month ago? I faced same issue while using other tools for the same. All of them show up old backlinks but not the new ones created recently. However, the Google Webmaster Tool updates me with this recent development. Any reason?
