How would you research on what keywords to rank?
-
Do you guys mind sharing your steps on what you do on your research? Semrush does not have my countries google so Sadly i have to skip that.
I been using open site explore to check out on my competitors to see what they are ranking. Any more suggestions?

If im not mistaken google do group certain keywords into an ad group right? So i assume if you rank that one certain keyword on that group it also does for other keywords in the group? correct me if im wrong

- Look at your competitors and what they are targeting
- Google Adwords Keyword Planner
- Semrush (which you say you can't use)
- keywordtool.io (gives you Google Autosuggested Terms around your keywords)
- Scrapebox for even more in depth keyword research. With the list of terms this generates, you can gather search volume with the Google Adwords Keyword Planner and group them into related sections using the Adwords Editor.

Hi, I made a keyword research last month for a large retailer i took the following staps: First of all i made 3 keyword lists:
1. top 100 high volume (adwords keyplanner like Moosa said)
2. top 100 best ranking (MOZ and WMT)
3. top 100 last month used (Google analytics and WMT)For the final keyword list i took the overlaps on the lists. and the keywords with brings traffic and revenue to the site. I have 60 keywords now and optimizing the landingpages for it.
Grtz, Leonie.

I wrote a detailed post on SEMRush that talks about step by step research in order to come up with the list of keywords that are money making or help you get quality traffic and leads from search engine.
http://www.semrush.com/blog/publications/judge-value-keywords-business/
Go through the post and you will have a better idea. SEMRUsh does have limited countries but I think Google Keyword planner can help better in this regards.
Hope this helps!

Penalized for keyword?
Hi There! We have been building our website (https://systemfarmer.hu) for years, and had a great position for the keyword "office 365" in hungary. Now our site dropped in the middle of nowhere in natural search list. Is it possible that google penalized us? Tried to find out the reason without any luck. Thanks! Laszlo

Ranking is dancing for 2 months
Hi, We have recently, https on website, all set perfectly. We also moved to php7 from 6. These two changes shouldn't harm our ranking, for keyword Virginia Beach, we used to show at first 5 position in Google.com. But for past 2 months ranking is dancing. This is insane. we have seen us on position #5 several times over the past few weeks, then it just disappears. website vabeach.com Your help will be appreciated.

Keyword links in footer
Hi - I am trying to help a site to get out from under a Google manual action penalty - down as "Partial Matches - Unnatural Links to site".
Technical SEO | | StevieD
I am checking through their links - the site that links most to them is a local directory style site - it has 2,682 links back into 1 page (Home) The directory site was built by the web co. that built my clients' site and they put a keyword link in the footer of the directory site - the keyword was "Buy Truffles". All my instincts say that is a bad thing! But - this is what is perplexing me - they are ranking no.1 for that keyword! Whereas they have lost rankings (i.e. not top 50) for all the other keywords they were targeting. So I don't get it! Can anyone explain why this is. I feel I should I get that link removed but don't want to take out their only ranking keyword! Webmaster shows about 55 different pages in the directory site have a link back to my client. Hope you can help.

Google is ranking the wrong page
We are trying to figure out why google is ranking the wrong page for the key word motorcycle tires. We have a few ideas but are not sure yet. If you do a search for Motorcycle Tires you will see site on page 2 or top of 3; however, the page will be going to our dirt bike tires page (http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/t/44/86/176/742/Dirt-Bike-Tires-All) not our Motorcycle page (http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/t/49/-/181/750/Motorcycle-Tires-All) any thoughts? We think we know why but want others opinions too.

Duplicate content domains ranking successfully
I have a project with 8 domains and each domain is showing the same content (including site structure) and still all sites do rank. When I search for a specific word-string in google it lists me all 8 domains. Do you have an explanation, why Google doesn't filter those URLs to just one URL instead of 8 with the same content?

Sub-Page Ranks for a Main Keyword
A sub page now ranks for my main key word (the file name is exact match to the key word) it completely replaced my index page in rankings. Would 301 redirecting the sub-page to my index page (which is more informative and has a whole lot more links pointing towards it) be a good idea or vice versa? Or would optimizing that page (the sub page) be the best way to go (the sub page doesn't have single inbound link pointing to...). This happened about a week ago. Thanks!
