A question on keywords that rank 51+
-
Good afternoon everyone. I wanted to pose a question to the group about keywords and the "on-page optimization - grade a page tool."
I have a list of keywords that I am trying to rank for. Some of them are not ranked in the top 50, so on the keyword ranking tool it gives you the 51+ message in the rank column. For the items that are ranked I can try to improve them by looking at grade a page and typing in the URL and keyword. It will then give me a score and suggestions on how to improve it.
With that being said, is there an easy way to find out which pages I should be optimizing those keywords which rank at 51+ for, besides typing the keywords in Google and seeing what URL it associates with the specific keyword?
I hope the question above is clear.

Hey
As a general rule, you should have an optimized page for each keyword your trying to rank for. Its difficult to rank with a page for several different keywords. Just remember you're NOT trying to rank your homepage, your trying to rank the unique landing page for that keyword.
Hope that helps, best of luck

Hi. Typically you should have some idea of the keywords a page is targeting, i.e. What is it called? What's the title tag say? What's the content of the page? And so on. Also, in general, you can model your pages using a break down of Moz' http://moz.com/learn/seo/on-page-factors where applicable for your content. If you have a list of keywords that you're trying to rank for, have you associated that list with different pages on your site? That would at least give you a start.

Unsolved Is the Keyword Explorer tool down?
Hi, I was supposed to work with researching keywords today. After researching a few queries in the Keyword Explorer, it stopped retrieving keywords and shows the message, “Getting keyword suggestions failed. Please retry your search or refresh this page”. The issue has persisted for a few hours. Thanks in advance.

Keyword Ranking History Chart
The attached image shows the Keyword Ranking History with big downward spirals on Aug 27 and Sep 24th. Yet it's also showing up within the #10-#20 row. What is the official technical reason for why it's in both places? My boss is asking and I'm blanking. 🙂 Just that the URL was found in both spots? B69toK9

SEOmoz not showing Google rankings accurately in Ranking Reports. How do we fix this?
We have a running campaign for a client who has rankings show for Yahoo and Bing within the SEOmoz Ranking Reports, however, Google shows no data or rankings. When we manually check from different IP's and computers and browsers, we see our client ranking very well in Google and for keywords which we have inside their campaign for SEOmoz. Can anyone provide insight into this? Have you experienced this also? Our reports would look terrible going to the client if sent from SEOmoz directly as Google shows 0 (Not in Top 50) for all keywords, so we have to get rankings from other sources or manually to show our client. Thank you in advance for your help and tips everyone!

Rankings w/ Geographic Bias
I'm looking for a way to see the right rankings with geographic bias in mind. As an example, is there a way to indicate to SEOMoz to pull Google Rankings for San Francisco. The most narrow I can get is by country which won't work for several clients. I know Linkdex does this but would love to know if SEOMoz has a similar capability? If not, does anyone know of another company besides Linkdex?

Is the keyword difficulty tool the most helpful in all situations?
I understand that the scores it generates are essentially based on the difficulty of appearing on the first SERP for the keyword in question. That said, I am having a lot of difficulty finding keywords in my niche which return a score that would make this easily achievable for a site of my size.... The reason I'm pointing this out is because theoretically, a keyword could have a HIGHLY competitive first SERP, with a significant drop-off on the second SERP, which would make achieving a top ranking on that page substantially easier. So my question really is, is the importance of appearing on the first SERP so unequivocally important that it is a pointless activity to attempt deliberately to rank for keywords on the second SERP, which is ignored by the keyword difficulty tool? I know the breakdown of clicks goes something like 40% for top spot, 12% for second and downwards from there, but if a certain query has over a million searches per month, for example, it would still be possible to get considerable amounts of traffic by trying to rank highly on the second SERP, which the keyword difficulty tool cannot help with. So is this really a useless activity?
