Google Analytics Event Tracking
-
Hi Guys,
I want to set up a goal in Google analytics for this site http://www.dfrsolicitors.co.uk/contact.php and the contact us form is in php (so there is no thank you html page). I know there is a piece of code "onsubmit" or whatever it is, but I can't find it.
I want to be able to track successful submissions.
Kind Regards
Neil

The code you have added just tracks page views, so far, so you will need ti track the button with an event and then in GA you can define a goal by these parameters in the event you have just created

Hi David,
Thank you so much for you help. I have just a couple of quick questions.
We have put the code in here:- http://www.dfrsolicitors.co.uk/contact.php does this look right? and in terms of GA what special thing to do I need to do to start counting goals via the "conversion" tab. Obviously if I set the goal as contact.php it will only record people coming to the page not submitting the form.
Kind Regards
Neil

As long as your analytics.js is across all pages including the contact.php you dont need to put in th UA
for the inline one it would look something like
as for the query it would be something like this
and then ad the jquery before the end of the document
-
Brilliant!! Exactly what I was looking for. Where would this go and do I need to put my UA number in?
-
something like this?
onsubmit="ga('send', 'event', 'Form', 'Submit', 'Contact')"
or by jquery
jQuery(document).ready(function ($) {
$('#formsubmit').on('click', function() {
ga('send', 'event', 'form', 'click', 'contact');
});

Which one should I use...Google Analytics or AFS Analytics
Hi There, I am about to implement analytics for a customer site and I am wondering if I should use Google Analytics or https://www.afsanalytics.com ? I am leaning towards Google since it's pretty mainstream but I would love some feedback on the AFS ! Thanks everyone! Gary

Google Analytics Landing Page Report Discrepancy
I have noticed that when I run a landing page report and use the advanced option so I can view only the landing pages that include a particular string in the URL, have noticed that I in the report, the graph at the top will say one thing, but the data below says something else. For example, the graph for one particular search shows 200 Impressions, but the info below says 700 impressions and 610 clicks. Anyone seen anything similar or have any ideas why? Thanks! Craig

Google Analytics, new property or views?
Hi All We have an existing Google analytics account which was customised relatively heavily a few years back, with custom variables, e-commerce tracking and the a large number of filters. We have determined that the custom variables and e-commerce tracking, at least for now, are no longer required and actually complicating our lives. We want to simplify the account and add a fresh set of goals and events. Our initial train of thought was to create an entire new property with the usual views, raw, test, main etc. We are proposing to retain both properties (6 months) so we can still do some comparative stuff. We're now wondering if we should retain the existing property and just create new views, the downside being that whilst we can compare data with previous periods it's meaningless to some degree as the filters etc are different. The plus of more views is that we're not firing the tag twice retaining two properties. Views and opinions welcome. Thanks

How can we stop Google analytics pulling in data from another site?
We have a few accounts under one Google login. They all have separate Google analytics codes but one of the sites is somehow pulling in some data from another site but the other site has not got the same analytics code on it. Not sure how this is happening and what we can do about this, is it a bug in the Google Analytics system? Any help would be appreciated.

Help w/ Google Event tracking w/ new Universal analytics.js
I want to implement Google event tracking after my visitors complete an estimate form. The form provides them an approximate range of costs based on their widget and widget amount. I have the php coding done, but I don't know JS and I need to send an event upon completion of the estimate form. However, all of Google's examples are button click events. How do I send the event upon completing a form if there is no separate landing page? If I have my Google analytics code on the page as well, would simply adding the following the completed estimate code work?

Google Analytics set up for non-canonicalized domains
Our client's website is non-canonicalized (www.example.com & example.com load the same thing). Google seems to have made a preference for the www, but canonicalizing to www breaks their Flash website. All we're really trying to do at this time is install Google Analytics for them. What's the smartest way to make sure that both www.example.com and example.com are treated exactly the same by Google Analytics? Google Developers: Domains & Directories states that by default visit data will be separately collected between the two domains, although I found no references to the common www/naked domain issue. In stackoverflow: Does google analytics combine naked domains with the www subdomain? Török Gábor says, "Yes, users will be tracked, but the same visitor coming from www.datalookups.com and datalookups.com will be counted as two different visitors." On the same page, Open SEO says, "This is completely false: www.domain.tld and domain.tld are treaded just the same, and get the same value for the HASH code (the number at the start of each __utm cookie). This an exception: every other subdomain.domain.tld will be handeld as a distinct web site". Can any Analytics experts help me sort this out? Thanks!

Why does Google Analytics think PPC traffic is organic?
I have a bastard of a problem... Google Analytics is incorrectly tracking PPC traffic as SEO which is screwing up all my reporting . I don't care for rankings, I care for actual SEO traffic and I can't be sure that what i am seeing is correct which is driving me nuts. Any ideas?
