How do I EXPAND my sitelinks?
-
When I search for my site in Google, I am able to see 4 sitelinks below the main result.
The problem is, Google is only showing the hyperlinks.
When I search for other companies, it shows the hyperlinks plus some text below each link.
How do I add this extra text?
The attached image is not of my site but it shows the exact same problem for the top 2 results.
Edit: My site is www.consumerbase.com
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

_If the keyword you are searching is a brand and no other companies are targeting that keyword [this is my assumption here], you will get an extended sitelinks. But when the keyword is too generic [as is the case with you], you might have to settled with text only site links. _

I corrected several thousand 404s. A further 10,000 404s were turned into 410s since they aren't coming back, I can't redirect them, and I want google to stop crawling them to conserve crawl budget.
But none of the changes were affected the main content of the site.
I should mention that the site was hit in the May Penguin update.
-
I neglected to mention we used to have expanded sitelinks (see attached image from August).
I've dug through our Analytics and our traffic from the branded keywords 'consumerbase' and 'consumerbase.com was actually larger in October than it was in August.
-
We used to have them too (see attached screenshot from August). Did you make any large changes to your site before you lost the megasitelinks (structure/content/etc.)? We made some large changes and restructured our site after this screenshot was taken, but we can't pinpoint the date we lost the sitelinks. If you didn't change your content, then maybe it wasn't these changes that made us lose ours.
-
I lost "megasitelinks" as well recently. I think it may be due to changes or tweaks they are making.
Terms I had sitelinks for before were:
domain.com;
domainNow I only have sitelinks for:
www.domain.com;
http://www.domain.comYour site shows similar behavior. I expect the megasitelinks will reappear soon as they make further changes.
-
How much branded traffic are you getting right now? My guess is, Google still needs to learn that your site is what searchers overwhelmingly want when they search [consumerbase] or [consumerbase.com]. Maybe there's a threshold for branded clicks before the algorithm becomes confident about that.
-
Those were just examples. Ideally we want expanded sitelinks to show for searches for both "consumerbase" and "consumerbase.com".
-
Oh, I thought you were talking about the companies in your screenshot. Are you searching [consumerbase.com]? I see what you mean now about the small sitelinks. I'm not sure why Google isn't treating that as a normal branded search.
-
Thanks for the response. How can I make my company name a more branded search term? Even when I search for "consumerbase.com" (my actual site) it is still displaying the un-expanded sitelinks.
-
This is happening because Google is certain that [facebook] is a branded search, and less certain that [test] is a branded search. Expanded sitelinks only appear on branded searches. For contrast, search [test.com] or [speedtest] and you'll see expanded sitelinks.

Google pulls sitelinks in an automated manner based on what they feel is important for your site and would help the user access your site better. According to Google:
"There are best practices you can follow, however, to improve the quality of your sitelinks. For example, for your site's internal links, make sure you use anchor text and
alt
text that's informative, compact, and avoids repetition."http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=47334

Hide sitelinks from Google search results
Does anyone have any recommendations on how you can tell Google (hopefully via a URL) not to index that page of a website? I have tried through SEO Yoast to hide certain sitemaps (which has worked to a degree) but certain functionalities of Wordpress websites show links without them actually being part of a "sitemap" so those links are harder to hide. I'm having an issue with one of my websites - the sitelinks that Google is suggesting are nowhere near the most popular pages and I know that you can't make recommendations through Google not to show certain pages through Search Console. anymore. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Influencing Sitelinks - Achievable with Schema or Solely Automated by Google
I'm looking to influence the sitelinks that appear under my main website. I found a Google article here about how to mark up the sitelinks: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/sitelinks-searchbox. Then I found another Google article about how the sitelinks are automated: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/47334?hl=en. Which is it? Can I influence the sitelinks or not? And is there a maximum number? I can't find any up to date articles that are accurate, because most still reference the remove sitelinks tool in Google Search Console which is no longer available.

Despite proper hreflang and lang attribute implementation using xml sitemaps, I'm seeing sitelinks from different countries. Any help please?
When someone searches for our brand in US, instead of only US links, users are served with canadian or iranian sitelinks. Despite we have properly implemented xml sitemaps with hreflangs, even we have implemented lang attribute in the head section of source code for every country. I'd be thankful for any advice.

How does Google treat Content hidden in click-to-expand tabs?
Hi Peeps I'm working a web build project and having some debates going on with our UX and SEO department regards hidden content in click-to-expand tabs. The UX team is suggesting using these tabs is a legitimate method of making large amounts of copy more easily digestible to readers. The tabs are for FAQs ( hopefully, you can view the wireframe URL ) and the SEO team are concerned that the content in these tabs contains some core keyword phrases which may not be indexed. I am the project lead on this and honestly can't claim to be an expert on either discipline so any advice would be very welcome. Can search engines index content hidden in these tabs? Thank you in advance for any advice shared. Nicky 213985904

Sitelink demotion
I have applied a sitelink demotion in webmaster tools, though this same sitelink is still appearing under my Google listing. How long does it usually take to take effect? Or is there anything I can do about this? Also, is there a way in which I can select or channel Google to show the sitelinks I want?

Is it possible to change a sitelink title by off page SEO?
Hi all, I checked a website of my company: sitelinks in SERP are with the correct url, but one of the sitelinks’ title is completely irrelevant. Is it possible that it was changed from "outside"? Or maybe it's a bug? Thank you, Imre

Why is google ignoring my sitelinks demotions?
I'm referring to the sitelinks that appear in the SERPs when searching for my brand name. 6 subpages come up- some found in my main navigation, some not. 3 of the 6 sitelinks have been demoted in Webmaster Tools under "Site Configuration > Sitelinks." I realize that they say in their instructions: "Google doesn't guarantee that demoted URLs will never appear as a sitelink, but we do consider a demotion a strong hint that we'll try to honor when generating sitelinks." I am just surprised they would ignore 3 of the demotions and for so long. The pages that are demoted do not have very many internal links pointing to them (unlike other pages of my site that are targeted specifically). Also, the site has tens of thousands of pages to choose from. Why are they ignoring my request? What else can I do to fix this?
