Canonical or noindex for PPC landing pages?
-
I have two pages for this example.
http://www.designquotes.com.au/web-design-quotes/
http://www.designquotes.com.au/web-design-quotes-melbourne/
The first URL is an SEO optimised page.
The second URL is 99% the same, except that it specifies a city. It's intended use of for a PPC campaign.
The first page has major cities mentioned on the page so I don't have to build a separate page for every city variation.
The second URL is designed to be city specific for a geographically targeted PPC campaign. The more specific, the higher the conversion rate.
Should the second page (the PPC landing page) use a canonical URL (since it's 99% the same) or should it be noindex?

I think you should implement meta noindex to prevent duplicate content issues.

PPC click-through rate by position
Hey Mozzers, I'm trying to find an average CTR by position in the SERPs for paid search ads, but I can't find a reliable source. Does anybody have this information, or can anybody share their own thoughts based on experience? Thanks!

What's the best call tracking system to use for PPC & subsequent landing pages?
Client has about 30 locations. Not planning to get too fancy (i.e. like putting JS on the page so that a dynamically generated phone is displayed to track keywords). At this point, just we only want to see if PPC is providing telephone conversions. I've used Mongoose Metrics before and it seemed good. However, I don't want to go with something simply because it's what I already know. Would love to know some of your favourites and if there are better options. Also - client is in Canada. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Is this PPC claim true?
I want to optimise our marketing spend and was concerned about the high conversion rate of one of our products. When I suggested stopping PPC I was offered this advice: 'It is vital to keep spending on brand terms to prevent competitors bidding on your brand terms and taking the top positions' This this true and if so why would anyone want to bid on our brand terms?

Convince me I need a professional PPC service provider
Very new to SEO and somewhat new to PPC but I have managed a few campaigns before for an old website. I am very good with numbers, calculating ratios, conversions, etc. I have a strong analytical and business mind and the theory behind PPC makes sense to me. I know my target audience very well. I am an expert in the that field but I am not an expert in PPC. I am just starting out with a very small website advertising myself as a professional consultant in my field. The thought of spending extra money on a PPC guru when that money could go into my site or pay for visitors is a little scary. Do you think I can learn and teach myself all the tricks of PPC or is this an area where it really makes sense to hire an expert to do the work for me? My budget would be small at first ($500 or less per month) so every little dollar helps. Thanks.

Isn't a product page a Landing Page?
Before starting a new ppc campaign, I am working on making my site landing pages Relevant. I see some ppc experts suggest separate, noindex, landing pages. But aren't my dynamically generated product pages landing pages- They have a call to action "add to basket" button, a big photo, and orignal detailed conent- prodct description - below all that. Sometimes I would like to advertise we have a broad selection of a Vendor's line- so then my natural landing page is a categegory page with thumbnail photos and the call to action is clicking the photo or product name to go to the specific product page. Can an experienced adwords person help me understand this better? Do I really want/need to create seperate ppc landing pages? What would the difference be? Thanks as ever Handcrafter

Tagging Bing PPC
I am trying to tag my bing cpc in GA using the URL builder tool: http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?answer=55578 It is incredibly tedious, and in order to get to the level of adwords, I have to create a unique URL for each keyword! Ahh, please tell me there is a better way!

PPC + SEO - Both well ranked, which penalty if there's any.
Hello everyone, I have a doubt about the PPC and SEO. For example if i rank at first page ( something like 5th position ) for one specific keyword, and then I decide to add this keyword to my PPC campaign. My 5th rank will be penalized by google if i buy the PPC keyword ? Thanks.
