How can you best use additional domains with important keywords
-
Currently I have a corporate website that is ranking all right. However, I have some additional domains containing import search terms that I would like to use to get higher rankings for the corporate website, or allow these domains to generate more traffic for the corporate website.
What are best practice in using these domains with keyword terms, to make most use of them, for ideally both ranking as well as generating additional traffic. All input is highly appreciated.

Thanks and indeed I will probably stick to this one url and put all work in that!

Thank you for your answer. I thought of forwarding using 301 and all though I think I have good experience with that, I rate higher for those words where I do have a keyword domain, I'm not sure if it really helps.
I'll take your advice and focus on the one website and perhaps, just perhaps, will I launch a secondary site with a different business model, so I can benefit of two kinds of customers and also claim a larger share in Google. Thanks!

EGOL nailed it!
Probably the best use you are thinking of the domain would be to start another website and get it rank for similar kind of keywords which means you will have two domains giving you traffic and conversions. In my opinion, it is better to work hard on one domain and make it an above avg. domain instead of continuing two avg. domains.
The other use you might have thought is to redirect keyword friendly domain to relevant pages. If the domains are new and they don’t have a decent link profile, they probably will not help anyways. What if you build a decent link profile for my new domain? Good idea but the better idea is to spend that same time on your current website and build some quality links for that website and make it an above avg. one.
Just a thought!

DOMAIN RULE #1: It is easier to double your income by improving a domain that is ranking "alright" than it is to double your money by starting two brand new domains.
I might keep those domains in my registrar account, do nothing with them, and spend any time or money that I would have put into them instead into my corporate website that is ranking "alright".
In my opinion, getting new domains is the best thing my competitor can do - especially if he is ranking below me most of the time. If this competitor is really clueless, I might offer to sell him the domains and use the money to buy beer
Now, if that competitor dominates the web in my niche and is ranking above me everywhere.... If she gets two new domains, I might start sweating.

Similar Keywords on Addon Domain
Hi all, I'm looking at setting up a second website targeting some similar keywords to my existing blog. I host the site through bluehost and am considering hosting the other website as an addon Domain. Whilst the content on both websites will be different both will target the same keywords. Does anyone know if because I'm targeting the same keys words using an addon Domain this could impact my existings site google rankings? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Correct linking to the /index of a site and subfolders: what's the best practice? link to: domain.com/ or domain.com/index.html ?
Dear all, starting with my .htaccess file: RewriteEngine On
Technical SEO | | inlinear
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.inlinear.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://inlinear.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^./index.html
RewriteRule ^(.)index.html$ http://inlinear.com/ [R=301,L] 1. I redirect all URL-requests with www. to the non www-version...
2. all requests with "index.html" will be redirected to "domain.com/" My questions are: A) When linking from a page to my frontpage (home) the best practice is?: "http://domain.com/" the best and NOT: "http://domain.com/index.php" B) When linking to the index of a subfolder "http://domain.com/products/index.php" I should link also to: "http://domain.com/products/" and not put also the index.php..., right? C) When I define the canonical ULR, should I also define it just: "http://domain.com/products/" or in this case I should link to the definite file: "http://domain.com/products**/index.php**" Is A) B) the best practice? and C) ? Thanks for all replies! 🙂

Keyword in Domain or not?
My on page optimization grade is an "A" with the following factors; Factor Overview <dl class="scoreboard clearfix"> <dt>Critical Factors</dt> <dd>4 / 4</dd> <dt>High Importance Factors</dt> <dd>7 / 7</dd> <dt>Moderate Importance Factors</dt> <dd>8 / 9</dd> <dt>Low Importance Factors</dt> <dd>11 / 11</dd> <dt>Optional Factors</dt> <dd>5 / 5</dd> </dl> The main thing I appear to be missing is keywords in my URL. How truly important is that in today's SEO world and how much time or ranking would be lost if I do not have control to change the external links to my website if I decided to migrate to a keyword relevant url?

Moving domain.com to subdomain.domain.com
Hi, I like to do something, but first like to take some opinions from seomoz. My question is: 1. I have a domain: brandtrends.com and i like to move this from brandtrends.com to trends.brand.com because: brandtrends.com is on the position #15 on the second page of SERP for my "brand" keyword. I like to move it under trends.brand.com but all inbound-links are @brandtrends.com What do you thing, if i move permanently 301 from brandtrends.com to trends.brand.com does it rank under brand.com on the 1st page of SERP..? like to rank trends.brand.com under brand.com on results page...!!! I have the backlinks of brandtrends.com on my hands too, should i leave the inbound links @brandtrends.com and the new ones i build with trends.brand.com or should i change the inbound links from brandtrends.com to trends.brand.com Hope you got it! THanks
