Homepage meta title not indexing correctly on google
-
Hello everyone!
We're having a spot of trouble with our website www.whichledlight.com
The meta title is coming up wrong on google.
In Google it currently reads out
'Which LED Light: LED Bulbs & Lamps Compared'
when it should be
'LED Bulbs & Lamps Compared | Which LED Light'Last snapshot of the page from google was yesterday (5th April 2016)
Anyone got any ideas?
Is all the markup correct in the ? -
Hi Matt,
It's still not resolved to be honest.
All though it seems likely that Google are just overriding our Meta Title, although we still don't know why they've chosen that rather than our one.Cheers

Hi TrueluxGroup! Did this get resolved? We'd love an update.

Even though you update your title tag on your page, Google from time to time changes the title tag in the search results. If they decide that there's a better title tag that gets more clicks, then they're going to change.
Unfortunately there really isn't anything you can do about Google changing your title tag. You can, though, look at the title tag that Google is using and see if you can determine how they are coming up with that particular title tag. For example, if your site is using a breadcrumb trail, there's a good chance that they may pick up on that and change your title tag.
What's also frustrating is that Google will also change your title tag in the search results for certain search queries--I've noticed that they'll change it for one keyword but not another.
It does sound like you have sorted this out, though, I have run into issues where the site's theme conflicts with other SEO settings. Glad you figured it out.

Hi TrueluxGroup
Thanks for your help. I have just found out that the theme's SEO is conflicting with Wordpress SEO. I have now changed this and hopefully should of sorted this problem.
Your comment was helpful - thanks

Hi Truelux Group
The title and description has been entered in the theme's SEO where it states to update the website's title and description. I can see this in the source code in row 19. Maybe there is a problem with the theme not updating the title and description correctly? I will get someone to take a look at this thanks.

Hi Claire,
I just took a look at Strateji.co.uk and there appears to be no meta title or description on the homepage of the site. Might be why your having trouble, unless I've misread something.
Anyone else seeing the same?
-
Hi mr Trelux & Claire,
`php the_post();if( is_home()){?><meta< span="">name="description"content="YOUR DESCRIPTION"/>php } elseif (is_single()){?> php the_excerpt();?>" /> php }?></meta<>` That is de code i use for it. With Wordpress here are handy tools like Yoast but I see you are not on WP. Good luck!

Hi
I am having the same problem. I updated my title weeks ago and Google is not picking it up. I have been advised that 3rd party cache plugin's can prevent this updating and also that Google can choose to display your title in another format that it sees fit if it wishes.

Google Indexing Of Pages As HTTPS vs HTTP
We recently updated our site to be mobile optimized. As part of the update, we had also planned on adding SSL security to the site. However, we use an iframe on a lot of our site pages from a third party vendor for real estate listings and that iframe was not SSL friendly and the vendor does not have that solution yet. So, those iframes weren't displaying the content. As a result, we had to shift gears and go back to just being http and not the new https that we were hoping for. However, google seems to have indexed a lot of our pages as https and gives a security error to any visitors. The new site was launched about a week ago and there was code in the htaccess file that was pushing to www and https. I have fixed the htaccess file to no longer have https. My questions is will google "reindex" the site once it recognizes the new htaccess commands in the next couple weeks?

Google Adding Wrong Location to Title Tag on Multi-Branch Business Homepage
We're a business with 5 separate locations across 5 cities in Upstate NY. While doing some visual ad previews in the adwords interface I noticed that Google is altering my title tag and adding the word "Rochester" to the end of it, cutting short my designated title tag. Rochester is the location of our headquarters so not a big deal for 1/5th of our customers. But to my dismay, the same thing is happening when searching from the geo locations of my other branches. So when searching for my business in Buffalo (we have a physical address in Buffalo), the title tag in the results still says our company name and "Rochester". This of course is likely leading to confusion and actively harming our organic CTR in our branch locations. This is happening in all of the remaining 4 branch locations. I'm at a loss, I tried lengthening the title tag but it still gets cut off. The term Rochester appears (as do the other branch locations) in my meta description for the homepage as well as in the text of the page itself. I haven't gone so far as to remove that yet and hopefully don't have to. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Google shows date in the SERPS for the homepage
Hi SEO's we've build a site and our now trying to rank it but it won't go up despite of regular new unique content and a higher DA than most competitors. All tools like MOZ en Yoast SEO show green lights so we're kinda out of ideas right now. Till we saw the date in the SERPS for the meta description. This gives us the idea that Google sees it as a post and not as a page which might explain the low ranking. However there are no technical causes we can think off for Google to show the date. Any ideas on this matter? Could it be that Yoast SEO is causing this even although we tell it not to show dates? Love to hear from you!

Does including your site in Google News (and Google) Alerts helps with SEO?
Based on the following article http://homebusiness.about.com/od/yourbusinesswebsite/a/google-alerts.htm in order to check if you are included you need to run site:domain.com and click the news search tab. If you are not there then... I ran the test on MOZ and got no results which surprised me. Next step according to :https://support.google.com/news/publisher/answer/40787?hl=en#ts=3179198 is to submit your site for inclusion. Should I? Will it help? P.S.

Wordpress blog in a subdirectory not being indexed by Google
HI MozzersIn my websites sitemap.xml, pages are listed, such as /blog/ and /blog/textile-fact-or-fiction-egyptian-cotton-explained/These pages are visible when you visit them in a browser and when you use the Google Webmaster tool - Fetch as Google to view them (see attachment), however they aren't being indexed in Google, not even the root directory for the blog (/blog/) is being indexed, and when we query:site: www.hilden.co.uk/blog/ It returns 0 results in Google. Also note that:The Wordpress installation is located at /blog/ which is a subdirectory of the main root directory which is managed by Magento. I'm wondering if this causing the problem.Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!AnthonyToTOHuj.png?1

Content not indexed
How come i google content that resides on my website and on my homepage and my site doesn't come up? I know the content is unique i wrote that. I have a feeling i have some kind of a crawling issue but cannot determine what it is. I ran the crawling test and other tools and didn't find anything. Google shows me that pages are indexed but yet its weird try googling snippets of content and you'll see my site isnt anywhere. Have you experienced that before? First i thought it was penalized but i submitted the reconsideration request and it came back clear, No manual spam action found. And i did not get any message in my GWMT either. Any thoughts?

Dynamic numbers in meta title - can it harm SEO?
We are creating an online shop with thousands of products. And i want to put total product number in index title, each day/week it will increase. This would be interesting for visitors to see. But would be it be good for SEO? For example title: "Brand - Buy Toys Online, We Have More Than 10659".
