Hey Everyone,
I was wondering about the merit of using Yahoo Answers to build back links. I find it valuable to keep my ear to the ground but have not seen any of the links coming back. Forgive me if this is a newbie question but I'm still trying to figure it all out.
Best,
Mike

Hi Michael,
Yahoo Answers is a good way to build traffic to your site if you provide informative answers to the questions and not just spam your link even if it is not related. If you provide an informative answer, you can also include an URL to further answer the question.
However, I believe all links from Yahoo! Answers are no-follow. Therefore, posting links on the answers won't give you the backlink benefit in SEO. But still good for traffic.
Furthermore, if you want your link to be clickable, you will need to become a level 2 user in Yahoo! Answers.

Thanks I appreciate it.

yahoo can detect spam and remove your posts and block your account. Sometimes they stick if you only do a few but any significant link building will result in Yahoo marking you as a spammer, and kind of rightfully so.

Should I pay to be in the Yahoo! Directory or whatever it is now?
I've been trying to find a definite answer and have had no luck. The $300 a myear isn't an issue, but if being in the directory ads no value I'd just as well keep that money.

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone of you know if the Yahoo Directory accepts Spanish websites. My website has its 100% market in Mexico, so i havent seen the need to put an english version of the site. I dont know if i can accomodate my site under regional or something in order to avoid translating the ecommerce site. Or i must put an english version of the site. I would deeply thank your comments. 301 redirect on yahoo hosting
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could lend some advice to getting a 301 redirect on yahoo web hosting; I spoke with someone in SEO and they referred me to a site that had step by step instruction, the only problem is that was for the yahoo store, my business is not e commerce rather a service website. I was wondering if anyone had the same problem, some say that Yahoo does not offer "301 redirects" on their hosting, however, they say there are methods to cirumvent that, my site is html. Any suggestions would be great - thanks best regards, James C

Yahoo Directory - Which Category?
I'm submitting a law firm's site to the Yahoo paid directory. The location of the firm is in a suburb of the large city for that region, and that suburb is so small that there is no option for it under Cities. Obviously, the client wants to target the large city, not the suburb they're located in. Wondering if it's OK to submit the site to Yahoo under the category of the large city if the business is not technically located in that city. The address is clearly listed in the footer and on the contact page. Might Yahoo reject the submission for that, or will their editors realize there's no listing for the suburb and allow it?

Yahoo Directory Question
I'm working on building some links for a used car store and thinking about submitting a site to the Yahoo Directory. The page that I want to rank for this category is not the homepage of the site (as the store also sells new vehicles), so I'm curious if anyone knows if I can submit a specific page instead? If not, how does the idea sound of creating a separate domain that 301 redirects to my page of choice and submit that to the directory? EDIT: Found this in the Yahoo TOS: "The site may not appear in the Directory under a different URL." "The site must not be dedicated to directing the user to another page." Hm. Any ideas? Should I just submit the homepage?
