META Descriptions and NAPs
-
Does the meta description/snippet need to match the NAP for that office? If it doesn't, will it hurt local results/cause inconsistencies?
The reason I am asking is that we are using one line for one of our offices to answer texts. But, our other offices have their own distinct numbers. So, if we want people to text us and advertise it through the meta description/snippet, can we just use that one number for all the offices? Or, do we need to purchase additional lines?
Thanks,
Ruben

You can put anything into your meta description and it won't mess up any NAP inconsistencies. It's used purely as the text to show in SERPs - not related to SEO, link building, local map pack, etc.
Differences in NAP in the actual website content and various business citations could cause issues, but not in the meta description.

I understand it has no direct effect on rankings, however this is a little different. In regards to NAPs, they have to be consistent and if they aren't, then it will hurt your rankings locally. So, if I have a toll-free number listed on Yelp, but then a local number on Yellow Pages, that could cause a problem.
However, what I don't know is what the effect of having a different number in the snippet/meta description would have or if that would cause a similarly inconsistency?
The reason I am asking this is a cost issue. It's cheap to have dedicated lines for each office for someone to call into, but adding the ability to text to each number cost a lot per extra line. So, I'm trying to figure out if there would be any ill effects to just using the same number across the snippets for the different locations, or if we need to just pay the extra amount.

Not sure I totally understand the question but overall.. meta descriptions have no direct affect on rankings. The goal of a meta description is to entice people to select your link instead of the others on SERPs - use whatever it takes to make that happen.
If someone is looking for a specific office, it would make sense to use that specific office's info in the meta description.

NAP Consistency Address Line Variations
Can Google see that the following are in fact the same business at the same address? Address Site Footer:
Local Listings | | GrouchyKids
Blue Widgets Ltd
Hope Springs, Another Street, Stow on the Wold, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire POSTCODE Address Google Maps:
Blue Widgets Ltd
Hope Springs, Stow on the Wold POSTCODE I know that some directories work by you selecting a postcode/zip and selecting your address line. So no way to add (or remove) any extra address lines that you may want to. So am guessing it cannot always matter but some portions of the address must be of real importance (Business Name / First Line Address / ZIP or POSTCODE)?0 -
Is having two websites with the same NAP equal to the local search visibility issues?
My company works in two directions: printing and website design / development. I have one website for both printing and website development but it doesn’t have “printing” in domain name (velvdesign.com) I would like to rank higher for printing related keywords. Do you think I should have two separate websites, one for printing (velvprinting.com), another for website design /development (velvdesign.com)? If yes, am I going to get into NAP’s issue because my company has only one location? I can get the second phone number to improve local search visibility. Thank you very much in advance for your time!

Where does text in Google business listing description come from?
Had a question from a freelance project I'm working on and have to admit..I was stumped. When you Google the business "Salute Market Palm Beach Gardens", in the right sidebar there is a short description that reads "This patio bar serves small plates, wine & cocktails in a cozy space with an attached upscale deli." I have no idea where that text is coming from or where it is controlled..thoughts? Thanks! Ricky

Where have image descriptions gone in Google+
I wish Google wouldn't keep changing things! For a while now, I have been optimizing descriptions for the images that I upload to Google my Business through Google+, since the latest update I can't find where to do this anymore. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? I have tried inputting descriptions into the images themselves through metadata, however Google seems to strip this out when I re-download the image. Perhaps the ability to add a description to these images has now disappeared for good?

What is the ideal length of a business description for citations?
I am trying to write a business description for building citations. What is the ideal length or word count for this? I am using Yext to help get them listed, did a lot of searching for an answer and was unable to come up with a definite answer. Any help would be great! The business I am working on for this is James River Church, they have 2 locations. So I am trying to write a unique description for both locations.

Is it best to avoid the meta keywords tag?
We were earlier using the meta keywords tag on our pages and on reading a recommendation on Moz for the same being redundant, we went ahead and removed the same! Can anyone provide inputs on whether the meta keywords tag is really irrelevant or actually detrimental to a page? Thanks

Is this a NAP inconsistency or is it fine?
All my citations are built with this zip code: 34655, but Bing Places wants me to add the +4 to it. 34655-4700. Will this cause a problem for inconsistency? I can override it and just use "34655," but I'm not sure if Bing would considered that some sort of error and penalize my listing for it. Any thoughts? Thanks! Ruben
