Should I disallow crawl of my Job board?
-
MOZ crawler is telling me we have loads of duplicate content issues. We use a Job Board plugin on our Wordpress site and we have allot of duplicate or very similar jobs (usually just a different location), but the plugin doesn't allow us to add any rel canonical tags to the individual jobs.
Should I disallow the /jobs/ url in the robots.txt file? This will solve the duplicate content issue but then Google wont be able to crawl any of the individual job listings
Has anyone had any experience working with a job board plugin on Wordpress and had a similar issue, or can advise on how best to solve our duplicate content??
Thanks

Hi David
You can probably leave the pages as-is and allow Google to crawl them. But you may want to update the part of the content that's triggering the duplicate errors. In other words - are your title tags and meta descriptions unique for each page? Or maybe the H1's are duplicates? Since the pages do have slight differences, I would use those differences to make the content unique.

Disallow: / When I check the robots.txt in the website it looks fine - I see its blocked just in search console( in the robots.txt tester). when I try to do fetch as google to the homepage I see its blocked. Any ideas why would robots.txt block my website? it was fine until the weekend. before that, in the last 3 months I saw I had blocked resources in the website and I brought back pages with fetch as google. Any ideas?0 -
Tools/Software that can crawl all image URLs in a site
Excluding Screaming Frog, what other tools/software to use in order to crawl all image URLs in a site? Because in Screaming Frog, they don't crawl image URLs which are not under the site domain. Example of an image URL outside the client site: http://cdn.shopify.com/images/this-is-just-a-sample.png If the client is: http://www.example.com, Screaming Frog only crawls images under it like, http://www.example.com/images/this-is-just-a-sample.png

Site Crawling with Firewall Plugin
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the WordPress Simple Firewall plugin. I have a client who is concerned about security as they've had issues in that realm in the past and they've since installed this plugin: https://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/wp-simple-firewall?filter=4 Problem is, even with a proper robots file and appropriate settings within the firewall, I still cannot crawl the site with site crawler tools. Google seems to be accessing the site fine, but I still wonder if it is in anyway potentially hindering search spiders.

SEOMoz Crawling Errors
I recently implemented a blog using WordPress on our website. I didn't use WordPress as the CMS for the rest of our site just the blog portion. So as an example I installed Wordpress in http://www.mysite/blog/" not in the root. My error report in SEOMoz went from 0 to 22e. The Moz bot or crawler that SEOMoz uses is reporting a ton of 4xx errors to strang links that shouldn't exist anywhere on the site. Example: Good link - http://www.mysite/products.html Bad link reported by SEOMoz - http://www.mysite/blog/my-first-post/products.html I've also noticed that my page speed as become much slower as reported by Google. Does anybody know what could be happening here? I know that typically it's better to install WordPress in the root and use it to control the entire site but I was under the gun to get a blog out. Thanks
