Relocating a Business location on Google My Business
-
Hello,
One of our clinics is moving a couple of miles away from it's current location. Does anyone know the proper steps to take to make the change in Google My Business. I know I can go in and edit all the details, but what becomes of the former listing? If someone were to search by our name and the former street address, is Google going to be smart enough to deliver our new location as the search result?
Also, I know there's a Mark Permanently Closed feature, but that's not exactly true. That location didn't "close," it relocated so I'm assuming I should stay away from that feature.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
Erik

Yes, I believe you'll want to edit your existing Facebook Place, but be advised that this can be a bumpy ride. Read:

Thanks for sharing that! What are the odds Facebook behaves in the same manner?
Thanks again,

Hi Erik!
Coincidentally, I just had a piece published at Local Search Insider that describes how to handle business moves. I wrote this specifically for seasonal businesses that move every year, but the steps would apply to you, too:
Please, let me know if reading that answers your questions, and if you have others, please ask away!

Is it necessary for a single location business to have a location landing page?
I'm working with a dental practice that has one location that they use to serve a service area radius of about 15-30 mins drive time, which encompasses several other small towns. I understand the value of having individual location pages for a multi-location business, but is creating a location page for a business with a single office considered best practice as well? The entire site will be optimized for the city name that the business' physical office is located in. I'm considering creating a single location landing page that I'd link to from the footer and about navigation of the site, which would be similar to the template Miriam Ellis laid out in this awesome post: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/blog/overcoming-your-fear-of-local-landing-pages In doing this, I'm hoping to create a place for office photos and driving directions from the nearby towns in order to name the different cities in the service area. However, I'm concerned about the location page competing with other pages on the site, which will be better optimized for conversions in my opinion. Does anyone have advice on best practice here?

Business listing verification for multiple locations
Hi there I have been asked to help with a business which has multiple locations (5 to be precise). I haven't really worked with a business on that scale before so I am a little bit out of my depth.

I had a look at their business listing in the moz local business listing checker and their profile seems very messy. I can see several of their branches listed, some verified, some not verified. When I look at the listing for each branch in detail they are all incomplete but at different levels (ranges from 17% to 46%). Some have a Facebook page and some haven't, same for google my business etc...
My understanding when it comes to multiple locations is that, in an ideal world, each branch should have its own google my business page, Facebook page, a Bing places for business page etc...
Can anyone confirm what the best approach is to deal with multilocations businesses and their business listing and/or point me to some online resource that could help me.
Would I also need to create multiple accounts for listing their business in directories such as Yelp, Yell etc... Thanks so much for all the help I can receive0 -
Top Local Organic Rankings, But Nowhere to be found on Google Snack Pack
I've been working with a local gym for a while now. We successfully got the gym to beat out all its competitor and now it consistently ranks in the 3rd or 4th result for all major local industry keywords. For example "gym in [city]". The only thing above us is Yelp and other directory sites. The problem I am running into is we do well organically, but when it comes to Google Snack Pack we aren't in the top three or even 10. You have to go deep into the next pages of the map to find our business. I did find that we use to be categorized as health club in Google My Business, but I changed that three months ago. Some more additional info, the site when I got the account moved to a different url. So many directories and sites that linked to us in the past link to the old url. The old url is 301 redirected to our current url. I haven't found much info about this topic and am looking for any experience or insight?

Hi all- We recently had some pictures show up on our local profile that are not our store. When you click on them they have links to someone's blog as well. Can someone tell me how these got here and more importantly how to get rid of them. We've looked everywhere but can't find them to get rid of. Thanks for any help! Ken

Moving Locations and NAP
Hello, I am the new IT guy for a business that is moving. They have a ton of old NAP stuff for like 3 offices that they are no longer at and to be honest, the entire NAP is just a total chaotic mess. They did not keep a record of the accounts used to make the listings or anything of the sort. Now they want me to fix it all up. Does anyone have any suggestions on techniques for doing this? Is there a way to get these out of date listings closed or do I just simply make all new ones that are correct? Or is there something I am not thinking of? Thanks.

Removing Unverified Listing From Google
We have an old unverified listing that has our information on it, but we can't get it off google. I told them months ago it was closed, and it is marked as closed in Google...but it still shows up. Moz Local is telling me this is an inconsistency that hurts our local rankings. I went to delete the page from our Google Business/Place, but if I did that, the warning said that I would just not have access to the page, and that the listing would still show up on google. How do I permanently get rid of those thing, so it's not longer an inconsistent listing? Ruben

Why the location of my queries is wrong?
Hi there, I've got a question related to the location of the queries shown in GWT. My company operates just in Spain but according to GWT the majority of my queries comes from Sweden. Let's say 75% Sweden, 20% Spain, 5% rest of the countries. Of course I've set as Internatinal Targeting Spain as country, How could this be possible considering that spanish it is not the main language in Sweden. Can this be changed? Thank u 😉

What does this message from Google Places really mean??
Hi people, today I've got this message from Google Places. I Don't know what that exactly means. when I look in my places account, I can find no "more information" and I see no issue?? Here's the message: _Hello, We’d like to inform you that Google Places no longer accommodates more than one authorised owner per business location. Your account contains one or more listings that have been identified as duplicates of other listings and as a result, some of the information that you provide will not be shown to Google users any more. To get more information or request access to the other listings, please log into your Google Places account. Yours sincerely,
