MOZ not verifying my Google My Business listing
-
Hello Folks,
Moz Local is not verifying my Google My Business Listing nor is it verifying the manual CSV upload. My Google My Business Listing and my manual CSV upload correctly display all of the same information as my Google My Business Listing and Facebook Page using the following Moz Local guidelines. The only thing that I can think of is that Moz Local is currently pulling up and older listing with a toll free number; however that has been corrected and the feed is real time, so I'm at a loss.
Facebook
- The name, address, and phone number (NAP) listed on the page must be an exact match with the listing in Moz Local.
- The primary phone number listed must be a unique local number or a toll-free number.
- The primary page category must be “local business”.
- A minimum of 2 visitor check-ins are required. Not sure what to do here? Head to Facebook's resources to see how to let people check in and how you can check in.
- The page must be fully accessible to all potential visitors, so any restrictions based on age, location, etc. must be disabled. This can be easily checked by attempting to view the Facebook page in a Chrome incognito browser while not logged into a Facebook account; if you can view the page normally in these conditions, the accessibility should be in good shape!
Google My Business
- The name, address, and phone number (NAP) listed on the page must be an exact match with the listing in Moz Local.
- The primary phone number listed must be a unique local number or a toll-free number.
- The business must not be listed as a “service area business”. A service area business displays with the street address being hidden, as well as the listing not being surfaced through the Google Places API (which is where we pull the listing details from).
- The listing must be verified by postcard. As a note, it may take a couple days after the postcard verification process for the listing to be available through the Google Places API.
- The listing must be completely searchable through Google Maps, with the full NAP listed correctly.
Any help would be appreciated.

Update: Issue resolved re:the old TFN playing havoc on the verification process. Thanks to the Moz support team.

Hi Donna,
Thank you for the response; however, this is a retail business and not a service business.
Hi Lisa,
Thank you for the additional information. The local GMB NAP listing has been verified by Google via post card and the location on Google Maps is the same as GMB and my Facebook account. This also happens to match my listings (although not used by Moz for verification) on Yelp, and a number of other directories, so there shouldn't be any conflicting NAP information.
The interesting thing is that the manual CSV upload isn't verifying with either the Moz unverified listing found in in the "check listing" flow or "import my listing from Google My Business" flow. The checlk listing results show an old TFN; so I uploaded a CSV to match with no luck. I also uploaded a CSV with the current listing information from GMB/GMaps/FB listing with no luck.
I have been working with the support team for the last couple of day; however, I must be missing something very nuanced. It may be the old GMB/Maps/FB listing with the TFN, which is confusing the matter. I am sure the team will be able to figure this out after investigating further.
Looking forward to solving this and leveraging Moz Local for my local directory facts.

Kodiiac,
If you want your Google business listing to be a service area listing, you're going to have to verify your business using Facebook because Moz can only validate Google-listed businesses with visible addresses. Service area listings hide your address.
So although your Moz local score will be lower than you'd probably like, I've been told your local data will still be distributed to Moz's total network of recipients so long as it has been verified using Facebook. Hopefully lisapeterman will chime back in if I've unintentionally misled you, but that's my understanding.

Thanks for writing in and sorry about any confusion!
Moz Local's validation system still uses Google Places, not GMB directly. Each location must be verified in Google Places (most easily checked on Google Maps) for Moz Local validate the NAP details.
GMB locations are not public-facing, they have details that only you as the owner/manager can see. So until any new changes are verified on Google Maps, they aren't detectable by Moz Local's validation system.
If you are still not sure why we're not picking up your location, feel free to reach out to [email protected] with your business name, address, phone number, as well as a link to your Google Maps or Facebook location, and we can help investigate!

Does Moz Local update/correct business listings?
Moz Local distributes your business listing to the important data providers, but what if your business information is already in their database? Does Moz Local update this info for me, or am I still required to go through the manual process of doing this myself on the data providers website (for example, Yelp or Hotfrog)?

Setting up Moz Account for a franchise with no physical locations
OK, so technically we are not a franchise, but our structure is very similar, in that we have numerous areas or cities, within which there are numerous locations (all with separate landing pages). We need to closely track the performance of each area/city as a whole (like you would a franchise), and the individual locations within it. We have a home based office in each main area/city, though not for the purposes of meeting customers etc. We have www.domain.com/area-1/location-A, www.domain.com/area-1/location-B and then www.domain.com/area-2/location-A, www.domain.com/area-2/location-B etc etc. This means that we have a relatively small handful of keywords which are relevant to any location, apart from the addition of the location or city name, like "house cleaners in [location], home cleaning services in [location]. So, do I set up my campaigns as domain.com/Newcastle, domain.com/Manchester etc, have say 10 keywords based around house cleaning, and then add all the local areas within that area/campaign? If so, should I add my keywords - things like "house cleaners" "home cleaning" "domestic cleaning companies" etc. to a campaign for /Newcastle, then add locations within Newcastle such as Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc? Will this then allow us to track our rankings for "house cleaners in {Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc}", "home cleaning in {Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc}, "domestic cleaning companies in {Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton etc}? Any help, general, specific is much appreciated! Many thanks Edward

Will MOZ Local Claim the Foursquare listing for me?
Hello all! Well, basically that's the question in the subject! Will MOZ Local Claim the Foursquare listing for me? Do I need to first claim the listing in Foursquare and then and only then connect to MOZ Local? Because it seems to me that, if so, this is not happening currently. Thank you in advance!

I can't add a new listing to Moz Local
Hi, Ive been trying to add new listings for two clients to Moz Local for four days now. They each have their own login, so I don't believe it is an account issue. I have rebooted, tried different browsers, cleared cache, and even tried a different computer, all to no avail. Here's what happens... I login and click on Add Listing. I search for the business, select the best result and then I just get a bouncing map pin. It never goes any further.
