Moving content form Non-performing site to performing site - wihtout 301 Redirection
-
I have 2 different websites: one have good amount of traffic and another have No Traffic at all.
I have a website that has lots of valuable content But no traffic. And I want to move the content of non-performing site to performing site. (Don't want to redirect)
My only concern is duplicate content. I was thinking of setting the pages to "noindex" on the original website and wait until they don't appear in Google's index. Then I'd move them over to the performing domain to be indexed again.
So, I was wondering If it will create any copied content issue or not?
What should i have to take care of when I am going to move content from one site to another?

Hi Gaston Riera,
Thank you for replying, i want to do noindex my old domain and then move content to new domain.( No matter about authority and traffic loose)
Thanks

Hi there!
As you can't make redirections, one of the best option is to set canonicals.
This would be the plan:- Copy the content into the high traffic site
- Set canonicals from the "bad" to the correct page. Always, remember to do it page by page. Do not create canonicals sitewide.
- Wait about 3 to 5 weeks and check whether all those pages are correctly indexed in google.
NEVER set nofollow neither noindex rules. - Leave the canonicals up the site expires.
The key thing here is that with canonicals you transfer the authority to the new pages and you tell google that those contents are yours, preventing duplicate issues.
As other said, there are some other options:
- Letting the domain to expire, when its completely de-indexed move the content and let it to be reindexed.
- Noindex those pages and then move the content.
Even these options may have the same final result, take a long time and you will lose the current authority.
Hope it helps.
Best luck.

I recently had a domain of mine that was primarily just a joke blog that I wasn't trying to make money with expire. I learned the hard way that if you let a domain expire that's a nice little scam trap these web hosts setup to charge you some nonsense 50-100 dollar fee for neglecting the lease.
Unsure of what to do once I had made a similar website but wanted one of the 1500 long word blog's I just said screw it and posted that puppy. Being that the other site was no longer indexed, I encountered no issues and no duplicate content detectors I checked it with detected duplicatecontent.
So you should be good but I would definitely take it off the one page prior to moving it.

Hi There,
Your own plan of removing the site from indexes and reindexing the content from other domain can work. Although you have mentioned that you don't want to do it using a redirect, yet I recommend mapping 301 redirects and transferring the content to mapped pages. This would transfer the authority without much delay and also tell Google about the authenticity of the new website with the existing content.
I hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Vijay

Disabling a slider with content...is considered cloaking?
We have a slider on our site www.cannontrading.com, but the owner didn't like it, so I disabled it. And, each slider contains link & content as well. We had another SEO guy tell me it considered cloaking. Is this True? Please give feedbacks.

Moving content to a clean URL
Greetings My site was seriously punished in the recent penguin update. I foolishly got some bad out sourced spammy links built and I am now paying for it 😞 I am now thinking it best to start fresh on a new url, but I am wondering if I can use the content from the flagged site on the new url. Would this be flagged as duplicate content, even if i took the old site down? your help is greatly appreciated Silas

Redirecting an image url to a more SEO friendly image url
We are currently trying to find the best way of making the images on one of our sites more SEO friendly, the easiest way for us would be to redirect the image URL to a more SEO friendly image URL. For example: http://www.website.com/default/cache/file/F8325DA-0A9A-437F-B5D0A4255A066261_medium.jpg redirects to http://www.website.com/default/cache/file/spiral-staircase.jpg Would Google frown upon this as it's saying the image is one thing and then points the user somewhere else?

Same content, different target area SEO
So ok, I have a gambling site that i want to target for Australia, Canada, USA and England separately and still have .com for world wide (or not, read further). The websites content will basically stays the same for all of them, perhaps just small changes of layout and information order (different order for top 10 gambling rooms) My question 1 would be: How should I mark the content for Google and other search engines that it would not be considered "duplicate content"? As I have mentioned the content will actually BE duplicate, but i want to target the users in different areas, so I believe search engines should have a proper way not to penalize my websites for trying to reach the users on their own country TLDs. What i thought of so far is: 1. Separate webmasterstools account for every domain -> we will need to setup the user targeting to specific country in it.

2. Use the hreflang tags to indicate, that this content is for GB users "en-GB" the same for other domains more info about it http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=189077
3. Get the country specific IP address (physical location of the server is not hugely important, just the IP)
4. It would be great if the IP address for co.uk is from different C-class than the one for the .com Is there anything I am missing here? Question 2: Should i target .com for USA market or is there some other options? (not based in USA so i believe .us is out of question) Thank you for your answers. T0 -
Build Backlinks on this site? - Advice Please
Hello, I am trying to build some backlinks to my E-Commerce site and was wondering how you all view sites like this: http://www.bookmark4you.com/ If I were to put a listing for my company/site on that site, would that be considered a good backlink or a bad backlink (in terms of Google's guidelines)... There are a bunch of sites like these, online directory or bookmark sites, and i was wondering what the general opinion is on using them for backlinking purposes. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!

Penalised by Google - Should I Redirect to a new domain?
Last month my rankings dropped a couple of pages on Google and am no longer receiving as many visits from Google as I used to. It's coming up to summer which is the time my business naturally picks up yet I can't fix this problem. I have a crazy idea of redirecting my established site onto a new domain in hopes that the penalty would be removed. I have tried removing any manipulative links yet my ranking are not coming back. Anyone had success in redirecting to a new domain?
