Rankings Up instantly after publishing new blog article
-
Hello All,
My question is, why did my site rankings go up all of a sudden as soon as I published an article in my blog and it gets indexed (almost immidiately)
The rankings increase are the following
Keyword 1: from Top 5 to Top 1
Keyword 2: from Top 4 to Top 2
Keyword 3: from Top 16 to Top 3
Keyword 4: from no where to Page 2 (big time keyword)
Any ideas or experience on this?
When it first happened early this week(i published a new article), my site rankings dropped back after a couple of days. I did the same pattern by pubishing a new article and it went back up again. No personalized result here btw.
Thank you

Thanks. And yes, as I have mentioned its not personalized

Thanks Dana, glad I am not alone on this. It's a really bizzare situation. Does your blog have a lot of posts? 50 or more in total? Are your blog topics relevant to the keywords that are increasing in rankings?
Thanks
Louie

We have a blog on our main Website. Every time we publish a blog article, a very similar scenario plays itself out. Out CEO's conclusion? "Google Love's Blogs!" So we are trying to blog about every new product etc.
You are right too, in a week or so, our rankings drop back down after the post has been out for a week or so.
Lesson" Write a blog post about every single one of your products every single week!
Right. Not realistic.
I don't really know how to ring this bell. Maybe that's Google's reason for valuing posts like these so highly...because really, no one's going to publish a new blog post every week about every single one of their products.
Or are they????

Louie, are you sure you are not seeing personalized search results ?
I would suggest using Incognito/Private browsing and/or clear your cookies. Also use the Search Tools option at Google.com and change your zip code to a random city and then recheck your rankings.
If you are still on top of the SERPS, good. Congratulations. Google usually likes fresh content and sometimes it can have effects like these. Content is King = Almost all the time

Maybe it depends on the authority of blog/website you are adding your content on!

New page disappeared from the ranks, under dubious circumstances
I've had an odd situation happen today. Published a blog post and it ranked No 6 within 2 or 3 hours, just come back now (About 12 hours later) and it has completely vanished! I have checked to page 9, and used a couple of keyword tools and it appears nowhere! It didn't have any back links, but it was unique and high quality. I have checked on the page does still exist and it is still readable. Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

I have rebuilt a website on a new domain and followed SEO protocol to maintain authority, but the results and rankings are declining.
We took over an account for a company called knightdoorservices.com who specialize in doors and windows in Edmonton, Alberta. We built them a new website on a new domain: knightdoorsandwindows.com. We did 301 redirects on all of the old URLs so that they now point to the new URLs so most of the authority should transfer over. Additionally, each page has a properly optimized title, h1 tag, a series of pertinent alt tags, and many instances of the focus keyword for that particular page. Additionally, the website loads quickly and has many high authority inbound links pointing to the domain. We have done this for many other companies and have seen their rankings maintain their position or increase. Is there something that I am missing for this company in particular? Thanks so much!

Removing Blogs and 301 redirect to blog home page?
Hi, I was at the MozCon conference in Seattle this Summer and heard great concepts about deleting a lot of pages on your site that are deemed excess. It got me thinking to remove all of our old blogs that were: Sales(ee) less than 400 words Flat out bad blogs When i begin removing these links, i know i will get a lot of 404 errors because of previous social links. So in your opinion, what would you do? Do i just 301 those blogs to my main /blog page? Thanks

Something is killing my rankings
Hello, I'm in the process of re-doing the following two domains: www.musillawfirm.com and www.melbourneduilawfirm.com because something absolutely plummeted my rankings. Any specific thoughts on why the sited could have gone from top 10 to being virtually deleted? Thank you in advance.

Better to publish regular new pricelist articles or update the existing ones ?
Hello Moooooooooooooz ! I could not sleep yesterday because of a SEO nightmare ! So I came up with the following question: "Is it better to release regular new articles or update the existing ones" I explain more. Our company release regular pricelists (every month new pricelists available for a month, with the same brands. ex: January pricelist for brand A, etc.) Right now those pricelists are ranking good on google. So I wondered: Would it better to do: Make the pricelist articles stronger: Our company - Brand A pricelist (title) blog/offer/brand-A-pricelist.html (url) -> every month I update the text. So I just have one article /link to work on **Make more content on the pricelist: **Our company - Brand A pricelist - January 2014 (title) blog/offer/brand-A-pricelist-january.html (url) -> So google keeps indexing new fresh content **Work on a extra category: **Our company - Brand A pricelist - January 2014 (title) blog/offer/brand-A/pricelist-january.html (url) -> So I work on one link over the web blog/offer/brand-A where Google finds lots of new relevant contents I know that Matt Cutts said it's good to udpate an old article but in this case it's a bit different. Has anyone experiment the same ? Tks a lot !

Rankings improvement strategy
I am working on my SEO strategies and though it would be good to get advice from awesome members: Our current rankings are on (Google United States) page 5. Our keywords have high competition and hence we need to follow tight plan. I want to learn some best strategies to get Page 1 rankings and how much time would be required approximately. (though I know its weird to ask for time in SEO but what I mean is some case studies or examples of how long you waited when you have pushed your website from page 5 to page 1) What rank maintenance strategies you follow in general. Does anyone have used any agency for rank maintenance for their niche.

New server update + wrong robots.txt = lost SERP rankings
Over the weekend, we updated our store to a new server. Before the switch, we had a robots.txt file on the new server that disallowed its contents from being indexed (we didn't want duplicate pages from both old and new servers). When we finally made the switch, we somehow forgot to remove that robots.txt file, so the new pages weren't indexed. We quickly put our good robots.txt in place, and we submitted a request for a re-crawl of the site. The problem is that many of our search rankings have changed. We were ranking #2 for some keywords, and now we're not showing up at all. Is there anything we can do? Google Webmaster Tools says that the next crawl could take up to weeks! Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
