Rankings Dropped to Nothing

We're kind of in crisis mode, as our ad revenue is about to take a huge hit. Hoping someone can help me figure out what to do next.

Here's what I did (below) that I think broke things somehow. I'm clearly not an SEO expert but thought I was making things better. And things did improve over the last week or so but then fell apart 2 days ago.
1. Most posts did not have a Yoast focus keyword. I added keyword phrases and used Yoast suggestions to optimize for that and for readability.
2. In some cases I changed post titles to better reflect the keyword phrase.
3. In some cases I changed the slug per Yoast's suggestion and did a 301 redirect from the old slug to the new one.
4. I used Grammarly to fix all spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.
5. Some Yoast-suggested changes that were made: Image alt tags, subheading structures, adding keyword to subheadings, first paragraph, and meta description, changed sentence length for those over 20 words to clean up the text, added transition words where applicable, reworded passive voice sentences, added internal links when needed, eliminated consecutive sentences (first word), improved Flesch reading ease when necessary.
6. I also added or changed Amazon affiliate links where needed and swapped out images when necessary.
Results:
I started this project about 3 weeks ago. On 11/29 we had one of our highest traffic days, with 1017 hits coming from Google. On 11/30, 257 hits came from Google, and on 12/1, 3 (three!!) hits came from Google.At this point, 82 of 89 posts have a double green "Good" score in Yoast; 6 are "OK" and 1 does not have a focus keyword designated.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

Thanks so much Mike. It actually turned out to be a bad plugin update causing the issue. Took a while to figure that out, but we're good now. Why these plugin authors don't test more before rolling out updates, I'll never know.
Thanks again!

Hey John,
I actually think this might be an Analytics issue, or at least it's something you might want to investigate before jumping to the SEO conclusion. Check your site using Google Tag Assistant - it looks like there are three Analytics tags competing with each other right now.
If you happen to be using a property that's been dialed back recently, you might be seeing incorrect traffic numbers.
Check that your Analytics is correct first - you might be alright on SEO right now - I'm not immediately seeing anything else that would result in such a rapid traffic loss from organic search.

Can we re rank our Penalyzed website in Google?
Hello This is Maqbul, from India. I have a jobs portal blog [ bharatrecruit.com]. It was getting around 50K to 100K Views a Day and made me $100 a day. But after a few months, my competitor made negative SEO with 12,000 Spammy backlinks. Suddenly my site was hit by Google and now it is getting 200 to 300 Pageviews a day. So the question is I did not disavow bad links for a long time like 3 to 4 months. Now I disavow all the bad links but the website is not ranking. Can we re-rank this site or create another website. Please reply must. None of the bloggers can answer this. Thanks, Regards Maqbul

Ranking for multiple locations for the same service
I'm currently developing my brothers new website and taking care of the SEO. He provides roofing services and uPVC fascias, soffits & guttering service. He is looking to target multiple towns and cities within a region (Yorkshire). Each service has its own page but I'm wondering if it would be better to create a service page for each town with different content? It's quite difficult to re-write the service content for each town and not repeat yourself. For example, we're looking to target "roofer in leeds" "roofer in sheffield" "roofing services wakefield" etc etc Obviously it's more difficult to rank outside your physical town as the registered address is on Google maps but with content and link building we should see some results. I look forward to hearing some feedback.

Combine two websites or keep them separate after Penguin 3 ranking drop and gain
Since 1995 we had one website which combined our wedding and portrait photography business.(website A) Three years ago we created a new website and new domain name for the portrait photography side. (website B) We did not delete the portrait information from website A. Both sites were ranking well on page one. After Penguin 3 website B is no longer ranking at all. Website A is still ranking well and one of the original portrait pages on the website A is now ranking on page one also. I am wondering what to do and considering the below options: 1. Should I go back to a combined wedding and portrait site? (and delete website B) 2. Should I create a "301" from the original portrait page on website A that is now ranking, to website B that is no longer ranking, and delete all portrait content from website A? 3. Will having a combined wedding and portrait site be harder to rank as they are competing against each other, or will they help each other rank? Any comments or advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

Moving to New Domain - Ranking impact
I understand that when migrating to a new site, even if done perfectly (page level 301s etc) that rankings will drop in the short term and each site will be impacted differently. I picked up the following comment and was wanting to get a few experts thoughts on whether I can quote this to my client: "In our experience, even when 301's are correctly executed, we see a short term fall back (7-30) days and then about a 90% carry through after that period for about 90 days and then back to full strength. "

Why did I drop ranking after setting up perm redirect, sitemap, and Google places??
I have a site that was ranking in the top two for my search terms. We had a funky url (it contained hyphens) and was advised to change it for SEO, so I setup a perm redirect through my web host (before it was a temporary one I think) At the same time I installed a sitemap plugin for Wordpress and also registered for a Google Places account. I can't remember the exact order I did this -- does it matter? Anyway, within a couple days of doing the above, my ranking dropped to the bottom of the second page. I would like to fix this, but I'm not sure. I need help please!

Event Landing Pages not ranking
Hi there I need to optimize the website of a club/concert venue. The site isn't bad and has authority, but the event pages don't seem to rank and I'm unsure about the reason. There is an overview page of the events: http://www.kaufleuten.ch/events/ What happens currently when clicking on a specific event (on "WEITER", top right of each event) is that users get redirected to a hashtag page by jQuery. The href of "WEITER" itself links to another landing page (which is IMO the one we should see ranking for the specific event). Here is a concrete example: Look at the event "Tanz & Konzert: Andreas Vollenweider, Seven & ROKPA-KIDS" on /events by clicking on "WEITER", you get directed to http://www.kaufleuten.ch/events/#2790/andreas-vollenweider the actual "WEITER" link in the source code though, points to the landing page http://www.kaufleuten.ch/event/andreas-vollenweider/ This seems to be done by an AJAX load: jQuery loads a DIV with the ID "ajax-content". Apparently, this is the code responsible for it: $(„.link“, click(function() {
Technical SEO | | zeepartner
el.find('.wrapper').load(target+' #ajax-content', function() {
});
return false;
}); I know the site has good authority and should rank well. however, the event landing pages never seem to appear, but only the page /events is ranking: SERP
(Strangely, when using the site command, the event page suddenly appears above: SERP. (But I have never seen this in a "normal search query", even though we are the organisers and should at least be among the top 5). Now my question: Does Google consider this AJAX load to be some sort of cloaking? (because the href in the code is different to you actually end up by clicking "WEITER"). Will the landing pages begin to rank if we disable this AJAX load? Or should we stick to hashtags and not even create landing pages? (but then, we will have no control over title tags of specific events, right?) Thanks for your help, I'm a bit lost here as my JS knowledge is meagre... Cheers,
