Combining products - edit existing product page or 301 redirect to new page?
-
We want to combine existing products - e.g. 'hand lotion' and 'body lotion' will become 'hand & body lotion'. As such, we'll need to combine the two product pages into one.
What would be the best route to take in terms of SEO to do this? My initial reaction is to create a new product page and then 301 or 302 redirect the old products to the new product page depending on if the change is permanent or temporary.
Would you agree? Or am I missing something?
-
Editing the existing product page is usually preferable when combining products, as it maintains SEO continuity and user experience.
However, if the changes are significant, a 301 redirect to a new page may be necessary to ensure proper indexing and avoid confusion.

Hi I suggest to keep one of the pages that have better PA and after that redirect 301 the other page to the first page.
with this action you avoid from cannibalization.I you wish to learn more about it you can read triboon.co that is about SEO and link building trips. -
Indeed. Make sure to 301 redirect both of the old URLs to the new URL after creating the new product page.
It is a good practice to update any internal links that point to the old URLs to the new URL even if you have the redirect set up correctly.

Yes. Create the new product page and make sure to 301 redirect both of the old URL's to the new URL.
Even though you'll have the redirect setup properly, it's still a good idea to change any internal links that point to the old URLs to now point to the new URL.

My site on desktop browser: page 2 /mobile browser: page 0
Using my two most pertinent keywords in Chome my site shows up page two. Using the same keywords on my iPhone does not show my site at all (I clicked on to page 15). I have a mobile ranking of 84 on Google PageSpeed Insights. Could be a bit higher but not enough to totally ignore my site. What am I missing?

How to rank well on 2 keywords - 2 separate pages or 1 combined page
Hi, I have a website about allergy. We ar developing new content, and through keyword research I have discovered that "dog allergy" and "cat allergy" are both very common searches. However, the cause, and symtoms are very alike for these 2 types of allergy so it would make sense to combine the two allergies on one page. So my question is: What do I choose to increase my chances to ranke the best I can for both "cat allergy", and "dog allergy"? Should I develop 2 separate pages for cat & dog allergy or should I do a combined page? (We would of course review the texts so no duplicate content/text would be used if we chose to have 2 pages) I would be so greatful for your advice!! Kind regards, Jeanette

Will Repeating Shipping Info on product pages affect SEO?
Hi Mozzers, Just wondering what your thoughts are on repeating Shipping Info on each product page? Example: http://www.vintageheirloom.com/classic-black-tweed-shoulder-bag-1368793069 I guess I could simply link to the Shipping Page, but it takes the user away from the product page, not good user experience. Other big brand sites seem to do this, but it just struck me this could be looked as duplication. Any thoughts on anything I'm doing wrong, always appreciated. Cheers, Kevin

Trying to maintain rank while switching back & forth from sitewide 301 to 302 redirects?
My company's website has earned industry "authority" over the years and ranks well for a number of keywords. For reasons not worth explaining, we've moved the entire site (all pages) to be secured (https from http). When we launch our completely new website in 5 months from now, we will launch it as "http:" For the next 5 months, we're stuck with using site-wide "https". Is it better to 301 or 302 all pages (from http -> https), with the intent to move back to 301 in 5 months from now? Obviously, this situation is not ideal, but we'd like to preserve as much authority/presence as possible. What should we do and why? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

How could I avoid the "Duplicate Page Content" issue on the search result pages of a webshop site?
My webshop site was just crawled by Roger, and it found 683 "Duplicate Page Content" issues. Most of them are result pages of different product searches, that are not really identical, but very similar to each other. Do I have to worry about this? If yes, how could I make the search result pages different? IS there any solution for this? Thanks: Zoltan

Is there a proper way that I should take care of this? Also as a side note, I'm using Yoast Wordpress SEO plugin, is there a setting on their I should change that will fix this issue? Or is it an issue at all? Thanks, BJ
