Pinpoint the Specific 4xx Error Code:
Gather as much information as possible about the exact 4xx error code (e.g., 404 Not Found, 403 Forbidden, 400 Bad Request). This will guide you towards the most likely cause.
Check your server logs for detailed error messages, including timestamps and file paths. Use tools like WP Super Cache or Query Monitor to view detailed error information directly in your WordPress dashboard.
2. Troubleshoot Based on the Error Code:404 Not Found:
Verify file/URL existence: Ensure the requested file or resource actually exists at the specified URL. Double-check spelling, capitalization, and relative/absolute path accuracy.
Permalinks configuration: Review your WordPress permalink settings (Settings > Permalinks) and ensure they're configured correctly, particularly if you've recently made changes.
URL rewriting conflicts: If using plugins or other modifications that rewrite URLs, temporarily disable them to see if they're causing the issue.
Caching: Clear your browser cache and any caching layers on your server (e.g., WP Super Cache, Cloudflare) to rule out outdated cached responses.
403 Forbidden:File/directory permissions: Check file and directory permissions on your server using an FTP client or control panel. Ensure appropriate read/write permissions are set for the affected files and directories.
Plugin/theme conflicts: Temporarily deactivate all plugins and switch to a default WordPress theme to isolate if a plugin or theme is causing the issue. Re-enable them one by one to pinpoint the culprit.
.htaccess directives: Review your .htaccess file (often in the root directory) for any rules that might be blocking access unintentionally. Back up the file before making changes.
400 Bad Request:URL length/complexity: Shorten or simplify URLs if they're excessively long or contain special characters. Avoid spaces, non-alphanumeric characters, and excessive query parameters.
Server limitations: Check your hosting provider's documentation for any limitations on request headers, payload size, or other factors that might trigger this error.
Plugin incompatibility: Update or deactivate plugins that might be interfering with form submissions or other operations that could lead to a 400 error. -

I have over 3000 4xx errors on my site for pages that don't exist! Please help!
Hello! I have a new blog that is only 1 month old and I already have over 3000 4xx errors which I've never had on my previous blogs. I ran a crawl on my site and it's showing as my social media links as being indexed as pages. For example, my blog post link is:
Technical SEO | | thebloggersi
https://www.thebloggersincentive.com/blogging/get-past-a-creative-block-in-blogging/
My site is then creating a link like the below:
https://www.thebloggersincentive.com/blogging/get-past-a-creative-block-in-blogging/twitter.com/aliciajthomps0n
But these are not real pages and I have no idea how they got created. I then paid someone to index the links because I was advised by Moz, but it's still not working. All the errors are the same, it's indexing my Twitter account and my Pinterest. Can someone please help, I'm really at a loss with it.

Crawling 4XX errors because of URL accented
Hello guys, I am experiencing crawling errors in Moz because the URLs read by spiders contain accents and special characters, which I know isn't best but yet my client needs to keep it. I know that Moz "uses percent encoding to parse the HTML in the source code, so any line breaks and spaces in your HTML links or sitemap links are converted to %0A and %20, causing a 404 error". Is there any way to avoid these errors happening in the dashboard? Or am I supposed to simply ignore it?

Crawl Errors on a Wordpress Website
I am getting a 902 error, "Network Errors Prevented Crawler from Contacting Server" when requesting a site crawl on my wordpress website, https://www.systemoneservices.com. I think the error may be related to site speed and caching, but request a second opinion and potential solutions. Thanks, Rich

Hi For both subdomains https://us.sagepub.com and https://uk.sagepub.com crawling is being prevented by a 804 error. I can't see any reason why this should be so as all content is served through https. Thanks

Hi, I am new to Moz and I'm finding using Open Explorer a real pain and frustrating, not only is it really slow, but for the past couple of days I've been getting "error fetching your data" messages when trying to show links etc. Is this just generally what its like or is there another problem?
