Essential to Have a Blog to Rank Well?
-
I have noticed that several competitors that rank very well rarely update their blogs, www.42floors.com for instance.
We are redesigning our commercial real estate Wordpress website in the hopes of improving traffic, ranking and conversions.
How critical is it to invest resources on creating and categorizing blog posts? Is frequently updating a blog post less necessary in late 2018?
Curious to hear how much effort we should take to create new blog content and whether or not it will assist us in a competitive niche.
Thanks,
Alan

Yes, you often you will need a blog to improve your companies seo, and you do need to write high-quality white hat content marketing regularly.

Hi there!
In my personal and professional opinion, either have a blog or you dont. If you have, you must destine the resources needed and be part of the strategy. Having a content site just for the sake of having it is useless and can tell users that you dont care and/or that you are lazy with other parts of your products/services.
There is no experiment (to my knowledge) that proves the need of a blog to rank well in the principal keywords.
Usually, blogs or content sites are a part in a big content strategy, where you can target other more semantic and/or answer questions about your products. I'd like to think it as you are creating a conversion funnel, where blog posts, content in other sites or any content is somewhat convincing users about your products/services.
Having a correctly structured content site (or blog) could help somehow through internal linking to express more clearly the anchor/keyword intent for some specific pages. Also, always consider that if you can attract users a little interested in some of your products, you are getting a share of visibility that you didnt have without the content site.Hope it helps.
Best luck.

Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | SharonEKG
so our website (www.18brandz.com) has been up for 8 months now and has not been ranking yet, we are indexing, moz crawler SEO issues are regularly fixed and we are down to about 25 non major issues, i started using google lighthouse to optimize and had made changes. we post GOOD quality in house written unique content, we follow an SEO templet of guideline i wrote for titles/meta title tags, structure, site speed has been optimized and as for the moment we rank A OR B with no major issues on all speed checking sites possible (gtmetrix/google speed insights/ webspeed... etc) but nothing. and i cant figure out why we wont rank, our field of digital marketing is a tough one and very competitive , i know, yet not ranking for so long seems odd. our only know fact major disadvantage is the lack of links and no link building strategy. any suggestions? any idea?1 -

Meta Keywords: Do They Hurt Rankings
I know that Google doesn't use meta keywords, but does it hurt to have anything in there? Just wondering if I need to remove all the meta keywords that are on my site, or are they harmless to have. Also, would meta keywords ever be used by an internal search plug-in if we were to install one in the future, or do they generally look at the product title and description for that info?

Moving blog to a subdomain, how can I help it rank?
Hi all, We recently moved our blog to a sub-domain where it is hosted on Wordpress. It was very recent and we're actively working on the SEO, but any pointers on getting the subdomain to rank higher than the old blog posts would be terrific. Thanks!

Why won't my sub-domain blog rank for my brand name in Google?
For six months or so, my team and I have been trying to get our blog to rank on page one in Google for the term "Instabill." The URL, http://blog.instabill.com, is a sub-domain of our company website and they both use the same IP address. Three pages on our www.Instabill.com site rank in the top three spots when searching our brand name in Google. However, our blog ranks 100+. For our blog, we are currently using b2evolution and nginx. We have tried adding static content on the home page, static content in the sidebar, static content on an About Instabill page, and optimizing blog posts for the keyword Instabill, but nothing seems to work. We appreciate any advice you can provide to us. Thank you!

SEO friendly blog.
i've read somewhere that if you list too many links/articles on one page, google doesn't crawl all of them. In fact, Google will only crawl up to 100 links/articles or so. Is that true? If so, how do I go about creating a page or blog that will be SEO friendly and capable of being completely crawled by google?

Local SEO (Rankings) + UK-wide SEO (national rankings) - achieving both
Hi All, For clients wishing to sell online / generate leads nationally, yet still want to have a local online presence to attract town / county-wide customers, I've often placed Town / County locations within both the Title Tag (or just County if space is limited) and Meta Description, plus within the Hx headings, Alt-text and within the footer of every page. My question is, does adding the location of the client within these fields really infringe their attempts to rank nationally, as some nationally ranked pages have no mention of location while others have their location (Town, County or Both) shown within them? Any help, insight or feedback greatly appreciated 🙂 Happy New Year Tony
