How to check for Duplicate Content Locally
-
Hi All,
Scenario
I have Instant Wordpress installed on my local machine.
I am in the process of redesigning my website; content, articles, etc.
I have internet access on my local machine.Question
I would like to cross check all internal links/pages against each other for duplicate content.
I would also like to check all internal pages against external www page instances for duplicate content. How can I achieve the following.
Thanks Mark

For external pages, copyscape should be sufficient.
For internal content, I would launch it noindexed on a test server (use meta robots and robots.txt) and run a Moz campaign crawl on it. That should be able to tell you whether any content is duplicated within the site without the content getting indexed.

I second Jonathan on copyscape -- it is a great tool to check for external duplicate content and the Copysentry feature is fairly good when combined with other checking methods.
To check for internal duplicate content, check out http://www.siteliner.com/ They are new, but it has been helpful each time I have tried it (and free).

Try copyscape.com. You can specific text by using Copyscape Premium, or protect your site (automatic checking) by using Copysentry.

I personally use Copyscape Premium for checking stuff and it is pretty good. It is 5c per search, so very cheap.

Content: How to top the top article in my niche
Hello, The top article in my niche is http://www.webmd.com/diet/default.htm I want to write a better article on the same topic, but on a low budget. The article would be a combination of tools, top 10 diet reviews, and what I already have here. I'm a pretty good authority on the topics.

How to approach link building/content in my weight loss coaching niche in a large scale way
Hello, I run a weight loss coaching business, bobweikel.com that is in it's early stages. I'm still working on making it graphically appealing I want to increase my number of national clients - it's coaching done over the phone or skype. I'm needing help analyzing my niche, specifically keywords, article content topics, link building tactics. I want to put a lot of time into it. Eventually I want to scale it up and hire other weight loss coaches and even SEO help. How do I get this dream going through gaining national clients online? There's not much traffic locally. I'm enough of an authority that, with enough time, I can create kickass content on the topics of weight loss and also the topic of NLP (NLP is the type of coaching I do, but it's little known) I'd like to add 5 best-of-the-web articles and a blog. Looking for advice. Would like to dream big. Tools I normally use (though I'm open to anything): OSE, Link Prospector, Excel Pivot Tables, Buzzstream, iPhone 5S video camera with tripod, youtube video embed, keyword discovery

Long tail keywords / Close variations of keywords / Duplicate Content
In a classified site, people usually search for the same item with different keywords which are often very close to each other and point to same set of results: e.g. honda civic for sale
Competitive Research | | razasaeed
used honda civic for sale
civic for sale
used civic for sale
used civic All the above keywords should actually lead to same results i.e honda civic for sale. Our competitor is creating a page for each one of these www.sitename.com/q/honda-civic-for-sale/
www.sitename.com/q/used-honda-civic-for-sale/
... and so on Basically they create a page for each high traffic keyword they encounter where as we have very structure search. How to compete with that ? They are ranking on all these long tail keywords because of separate landing pages though most of the pages are duplicate of each other. 98% same content (all are showing honda civics) Should we go that route OR optimize our single page focusing on keyword with highest traffic and hope google will rank us for the related keywords as well ?0 -
Help! New site won't rank locally but should...
any help would be greatly appreciated... picked up a new client, a used car dealer in New Jersey. Have a VERY spammy site before, tons of keyword stuffing and lots of dupe content. also had a horrible design. (www.coopscars.com) We updated the design and the content, made it relevant and unique, fixed title tags, etc. Now he's not ranking for anything locally other than his business name. He's got a decent number of links, we've added relevant citations, his social signals are much stronger than they were... We do lots of SEO for car dealers, and we know that he should be ranking SOMEWHERE at this point - not saying he should be page 1, but he should at least be somewhere in the top 5... and yes, bing/yahoo are different, but he ranks over there... one page 1 for "used cars south river" - so why completely non-existant on Google? just as a test, he put up a free website at www.coopscars.net just last week - and it's already ranking for several local terms. I'm completely confused here - i'm not a noob, I know the tactics we've used on him work for other dealers. Thinking there's got to be something that's blocking him, especially since there aren't but maybe 15-20 car dealers to compete against locally and he still doesn't show up... thought i'd come over here and see if anyone has any ideas...

Old Hand But New At Local
Hi Mozzers, I've enjoyed success for customers with national campaigns but until now have never taken on a local campaign. My method has been to find out what prospective customers were looking for and create content around this, then engage customers through various inbound channels. This, combined with a strong value proposition and strong calls to action has been successful. What if anything should I change for a local campaign? I'd be interested in hearing from some people that have successfully conducted local campaigns. As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

Counting up local reviews
Mozzers, Does anyone know of a tool that can count up the number of local reviews a business has and compare them against another business? Google Places has the number of reviews at the bottom of each place page but it never fully reflects the true count of reviews each business has. Thanks!
