How to relate two sites Domain Authority
-
Hi All
I have been looking at advertising on some fashion blogs for our online store. Both sites have decent traffic though A is stronger than the B with more than double the traffic, Therefore given equal relevance to our business sunglasses (www.pretavoir.co.uk) it would be fair to predict that A would result in double the number of conversions.. However another interesting aspect to making a decision on which sites to advertise is their Domain Authority and how much link juice they can pass. Therefore my question is this; Putting aside any potential click through traffic, if site A Domain Authority is 70 (link to be on homepage) and site B Domain Authority is 35 is the value of site A double that of site B or is there a less linear relationship (just as with page rank). Site A are charging 500$ per year for an advertising link and Site B 100$ per year would it better business to take 5 x Site Bs or is the linkjuice passed by one DA 70 site worth more?
Your thoughts would be most appreciated..

Since you were looking to Advertise, I was thinking you were looking for referal clients. In that case is it worth paying for advertising, most SEO companies can get you on good DA sites with a good article submissions. It is mentioned on here a bit that multiple good C-Block DA's help to improve your link juice. So good links on lots of good ranked relativant sites should help your ratings more than a single link on a DA70 that you paid $500 for. I know Australia is a smaller market than UK but have moved all our main keyphrases to page 1 or 2 in a very short time by getting good links from on-topic related sites and getting A's for all of them in on-page optimization.

Hi from Down Under..
Thanks for your reply. I am actually more interested in the linkjuice passed (there will be some conversions though as the sites I am looking at are US based purchases from our UK site will be low) So, if a site A has a DA of 70 and site B has a DA of 35, is a link on A worth twice as much as one on site B, or as I understand worth much more than double?
Thanks

Strangely, it is not that straight forward when it comes to conversions. If the traffic to site B are more in the market for your sunglasses (i.e mostly from France) compared to site A who's traffic could be from Scotland. the conversions could be better on site B to site A.
I would say if you are only talking about $600 a year, do both.
Check with Keyword tool and Rank Tracker to see where the two sites rank in relation to keywords you consider important for your site to see if visitors would see site A or B and be able to follow your Ad.

Why is this site ranking higher?
We've put a fair bit of effort into delivering value here: https://lewescountycars.co.uk/ But a search for "Lewes taxis" or "taxis Lewes" puts this site above us: https://www.lewestowntaxis.co.uk/ As you can you see, this is a tiny site that we outperform in most ways.... what can we do to rank above it that we haven't already done? Thanks in advance - Gerard.

Moving site from html to Wordpress site: Should I port all old pages and redirect?
Any help would be appreciated. I am porting an old legacy .html site, which has about 500,000 visitors/month and over 10,000 pages to a new custom Wordpress site with a responsive design (long overdue, of course) that has been written and only needs a few finishing touches, and which includes many database features to generate new pages that did not previously exist. My questions are: Should I bother to port over older pages that are "thin" and have no incoming links, such that reworking them would take time away from the need to port quickly? I will be restructuring the legacy URLs to be lean and clean, so 301 redirects will be necessary. I know that there will be link juice loss, but how long does it usually take for the redirects to "take hold?" I will be moving to https at the same time to avoid yet another porting issue. Many thanks for any advice and opinions as I embark on this massive data entry project.

Is repurposing an old sub domain better than creating a new sub domain?
We have a good sub domain like** art.ourwebsite.com** which currently sells custom canvas art. We have owned the domain since 2013 but it has only been live for the past few weeks. We want to redesign & repurpose the page to continue to sell custom canvas art but will eventually include other merchandise like mugs, tshirts, etc which wouldn't be custom. Would it be best to keep art.ourwebsite.com since is a shorter/more memorible & older sub domain or would it be best to update the name to something that encompasses our new products? Our marketing team has suggested yourart.ourwebsite.com

Linking shallow sites to flagship sites
We have hundreds of domains that we are either doing nothing with, or they are very shallow. We do not have the time to build enough quality content on them since they are ancillary to our flagship sites that are already in need of attention and good content. My question is...should we redirect them to the flagship site? If yes, is it ok to do this from root domain to root domain or should we link the root domain to a matching/similar page (gymfranchises.com to http://www.franchisesolutions.com/health_services_franchise_opportunities.cfm)? Or should we do something different altogether? Since we have many to redirect (if this is the route we go), should we redirect gradually?

How to handle mobile site with less pages than the main site?
We are developing a mobile version of our website that will utilize responsive design/dynamic serving. About 70% of the main website will be included in the mobile version. What (if anything) should be the redirect for pages not included in the mobile version of the site? Also - for one specific section users will be redirected from that page to the homepage, what is the redirect that should be used for this? Thanks!

Redirecting Parked Domain
I just recently switched hosting. We have 3 domains and 1 being the main domain. Right now they are set up as parked domains. Can I redirect the parked domains under my main websites .htaccess file ? I am just worried that good we will get hit for duplicate content, even though technically the content is only on our main domain. right now if I type in my parked domains in Google, they appear in search. The site is all hand coded and not using a CMS.

Site drop in SERPS after domain down for three plus weeks
Have had a clients site that has been staple in the SERPS for the last four years that we have worked on it. However they had hosting issues a couple of months back which they didn't sort for two to three weeks. Since there the main keyword has bounced around between 24th and 44th in the google results. The drop ties in with the hosting issue but the client does seem to believe that this is the source of the issue. Can someone point me towards some online articles that would explain this for them. Some of the keywords have not suffered as badly but the one key term is still in the mid 20's. I am sure it is suffering a minus 20 for the keyword as it was normally 4th or 5th in the results. We don't host the site and the client had know idea were it was hosted. What is so annoying is that it is us who pointed out the site was down. Thanks in advance everyone 🙂
