Suggestion - Should OSE include "citation links" within its index?
-
This is really a suggestion (and debate to see if people agree with me), with regard to including "citation links" within Moz tools, by default, as just another type of link
NOTE: when I am talking about "citation links" I am talking about a link that is not wrapped in a link tag and is therefore non clickable, eg moz.com
Obviously Moz have released the mentions tool, which is great, and also FWE which is also great. However, it would seem to me that they are missing a trick in that "citation links" don't feature in the main link index at all. We know that Google as a minimum uses them as an indicator to crawl a page ( http://ignitevisibility.com/google-confirms-url-citations-can-help-pages-get-indexed/ ), and also that they don't pass page rank - HOWEVER, you would assume that google does use then as part of their alogrithm in some manner as they do nofollow links.
It would seem to me that a "Citation Link" could (possibly) be deemed more important than a no follow link in Googles alogrithm, as a "no follow" link is a clear indication by the site owner that they don't fully trust the link, but a citation link would neither indicate trust or non trust.
So - my request is to get "citation links" into the main link index (and the Just Discovered index for that matter).
Would others agree??

Thanks Miranda, that would be great.
I really hope its added - this could be a very positive differentiator between Moz and other link research tools out there. Combining this citation link finder in with the 'Just Discovered' links - will in my view make a killer feature well above the competition.

Hi James! Thanks for the request! That is a really interesting idea. I've added it to our list of features to consider for OSE in the future. I'll update you here when we have a more solid plan for adding it or not.
Also interested to hear other peoples' thoughts on the idea! Thanks all!

What does "ffspl" mean in a url-metrics result set?
So I've got this server-side JScript object I've declared which works nicely for us. var mozObj = new MozInteraction()
API | | StevePoul
.setMethod("GET")
.setHost("http://lsapi.seomoz.com")
.setPath("linkscape/url-metrics")
.setCols(parseInt("11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111", 2))
.setLines(10)
.setAccessId(accessId)
.setSecret(secret)
.setExpires((new Date()).addDays(1).valueOf())
.generateSignature(); etc etc The setCols call sets the Cols value to the maximum possible: 9007199254740991. The weird thing is that in the JSON response I get a whole pile of column names that I can't find descriptions for in the documentation at https://mza.seotoolninja.com/help/links-api/making-calls/response-fields e.g. ffspl1 ffspl2 ffspl3 ... fuspl0 fuspl1 fuspl2 fuspl3 ... pfspl0 pfspl1 pfspl2 pfspl3 ... puspl0 puspl1 puspl2 puspl3... etc1 -
Why does OSE show old data (Previous update results)?
Moz api started to show July 13 update results for my website. I checked it 2 days ago and saw all new established links and updated DA PA for July 27 update. But last 2 days both Moz Api and OSE main page show July 13 update results. Is there a maintenance or mismatching error between old and new databases?

Mozscape Index update frequency problems?
I'm new to Moz, only a member for a couple months now. But I already rely heavily on the mozscape index data for link building, as I'm sure many people do. I've been waiting for the latest update (due today after delay), but am not seeing any mention of the data yet - does it normally get added later in the day? I'm not that impatient that I can't wait until later today or tomorrow for this index update, but what I am curious about is whether Moz is struggling to keep up, and if updates will continue to get more and more rare? For example, in 2013 I count 28 index updates. In 2014 that number dropped to 14 updates (50% drop). In 2015, there was only 8 (another 43% drop), and so far this year (until the March 2nd update is posted) there has only been 1. This isn't just a complaint about updates, I'm hoping to get input from some of the more experienced Moz customers to better understand (with the exception of the catastrophic drive failure) the challenges that Moz is facing and what the future may hold for update frequency.

Lost many links and keyword ranks since moz index update
Hi All, I came back from work today from a week off to find my site has gone from 681 external inbound links to 202. With this my domain authority, moz trust and moz rank have all also taken a slip. Compounding this, I am seeing a slip most of my keywords rankings. If i try to use the open site explorer to explore my links and see what going on i get the message It looks like we haven't discovered link data for this site or URL. If i check the just discovered links like it suggests I get It looks like there's no Just-Discovered Links data for this URL yet. I know these features worked before the index as i used them. Is this all attributable to the moz index issues that have been noted or could something have happened to my site? Since i started 2 months ago I have made many changes including... Updating the site map that was 4 years out of date and included 400 broken urls Removed blank pages and other useless webpages on the site that contained no content (from the previous administrator) Edited a few pages content from keyword spammy stuff to nicely written and relevant content Fixed url rewrites that made loops and un-accessible product pages All these changes should be for the better but the latest readings have me a little worried. Thanks.

Can't remove "insights" section from report.
The items in the "insights" section of the Moz report have an "x" which can be clicked in the designer to dismiss this data from the report. However, these items still shows up in the report anyways. Buggy. How can we work around this bug?

Any idea why HubSpot (which uses the MOZ api) can find our backlinks but OSE can not?
Links are showing up in the HubSpot link tool within a couple of days. OSE has our site showing zero backlinks. ahrefs is finding them too but that makes more sense. Does the API update more frequently than OSE? Any thoughts? Thanks!

Top Pages metrics in OSE
Not sure if this is an API question or a feature request, but wondering if other folks had a way to do this: In OSE there is the dashboard for a specific URL that is entered into the search bar, giving you metrics at a glance on it. But I often find myself going to the Top Pages tab to get a sense of the domain as a whole. First off, wouldn't it be nice/is there a way to build my own "dashboard" based on info from that section? Specifically, I'd love to see at a glance the number of "top pages" that exist (many websites are well under the 10,000 page limit for this section, but there's no quick glance metric showing that) One thing that would be very handy for me would be a breakdown of HTTP Status info across the whole domain, as being able to see the raw total of different statuses (and the percentages of each based on the total number of pages) would be really helpful, giving me a sense if I should dig into any issues before exporting the list to CSV. I've found myself needing this type of info for multiple domains at once, so what would be REALLY cool would be a Google Doc where I could paste in different domains in one column, and this info being returned in other columns. I've searched through the Q&A and didn't find anything like this, and I didn't know how easy/hard any of this would be to do, but I was wondering if anyone else had a sense of how to solve this problem and how feasible it would be to tackle it. Thanks!

Using excel to pull MOZ data about links
I have a list of links 500 in excel that I would like to get the number of backlinks, PA and DA for the relevant link, is there a pre-built excel sheet that utilises the Moz Api that can pull this data easily? Thanks!
