Citations for multiple practicioners in an office (real estate, dentists, etc)- Best Practices
-
We're just about to breakout our citations as we've added listings for a few real estate offices and dental offices for the individual real estate agents/dentists.
I didn't see any discussions on best practices, so I thought I'd start the discussion (please point me elsewhere if I missed it)
1. Is it even a good idea to build citations for a practitioner in an office (Dr. Who, Dentist, in addition to Whoville Dental Office)?
2. Name will be different, address will be the same, but what about phone #? Should they use the office phone # and their extension? Or a separate (cell) #?
3. Website citation: Should it go to their "profile" page on the website? Or home page?
Thanks in advance for any input

Hi AvalanceSearch,
Great questions. Let me address them in order.
- Personally, I'm not a fan of taking advantage of Google's offer to let partners in a practice build their own Google+ Local pages in addition to the main practice page. My hesitation stems from two things - Google's historic issues with merging similar listings and Google's historic refusal to delete doctor/dentist dupes (read: http://localsearchforum.catalystemarketing.com/google-duplicates-merges/861-dr-dupes-google-local-user-edits.html)
That being said, it is certainly permissible to go this way, just so as you have a sense of historic problems that could potentially come up for clients.
-
It's fine to have a different name and same address in the multi-partner scenario. But, if you can, do give each partner a different phone number at which they can be directly contacted during stated business hours. The main reason for doing so is to lessen the chances of merged listings.
-
Yes, definitely point an individual practitioner's citations to his unique page on the website. Again, this helps reduce the likelihood of merges and provides a better user experience.
Hope this helps!

- I would argue there are (as you might expect) pros and cons for both approaches. For example-
- By having "Dr. Who, DDS" and "Whoville Dentistry" as separate entities and creating citations for both, you easily address users who might search for them in both ways. For example, I never can remember the name of my Dentist's office, but I do know his name and that's how I search for him. Same sometimes for other services where you associate with the provider much more than the name of the business.
- One con of the above example, is you now have two (or way more, thinking real estate) separate entities to maintain and twice the work in building citations to them.
-
If it were me I would go with direct line or extension and make sure all citations were formatted exactly the same and reserve the main, primary number for the business entity.
-
It depends on if this is a single-location brick and mortar or one of many branches. If a single location, go for the home page. If multiple locations, to the profile page of that location on the main website. Same for the individual person entity, it should go to their personal profile page on the website.
So those are some thoughts of mine.

Google My Business search results for multiple listings
I am wondering how people set up their Google My Business listings to appear in the search results similar to this business, Hulme Orthodontics. I attached an image below that'll give more details. I am working with a client that has two locations similar in distance to Hulme Orthodontics, and I have tried everything and have come up with no answers as to how I can properly get Google to format the search results in this way. I assume that there is no actual way to manage this and that Google decides this on their own. However, if anyone has any insight regarding this manner, that would be much appreciated! Thank you for your help! UsEr3rK

How best to delete a duplicate Google My Business listing
Hi Mozzers, I am in need of help please. What is the best way to remove a duplicate GMB listing? Is best practice to a) Mark as permanently closed and wait for Google to update b) Call GMB in India and ask them to delete the redundant listing (do they even do this for you?) c) Delete the page from within my dashboard settings I am worried my NAP data is being diluted by inaccurate historical listings (most of which I have been able to claim ownership of) Any help appreciated. Ben

Google + / Local for Business. How to SEO ?... Done the basic but no real change.
Hi All, We have set up all of our Google local for business pages which are verified and these link to the relevant branch pages on our website. The branch pages also link back to the relevant google local page. We only appear for one category on the google local pages and we have also done a large number of citations (NAP) across all locations and the text used in each of the google pages is keyword rich and we mention the city in there as well to localise it. We have a few google + likes and we have used hootsuite to publish the same content across some of the google local pages which links back to our website blog , we are not appearing in local search whereas our competitors seem to be appear for all their branches. Is there any fundamental tips or things we need to do to def. get up on the rankings.. Or any good articles worth reading ?.. I've had a look but can't seem to see anything relating a google local business bible.. thanks Pete

Our existing locations business pages were set up by a previous SEO agency and now we are handling this in-house. I've tried to search step by step guides but was unable to find any solutions.

Map-pack results for multiple locations in the same city
We just started working with a local business with several offices across Virginia. All of their locations have G+ local pages, and all rank pretty well in map-pack results for their respective cities....except for one location. Two of their offices happen to be in the same city. One ranks well in the local pack, and the other one is totally buried. This is the only location that doesn't rank in the map-pack for its target local queries. This company still has a TON of work to do to clean-up their citations and improve their G+ local pages across all the locations, but I'm wondering if there are any best practices for handling two locations within the same city...we obviously want both offices to rank in the map-pack, and don't want to do anything that might hurt the one that is currently ranking well. I'm confident that generally cleaning up their profile across the board, and adding new citations for all locations would be beneficial, but would appreciate any suggestions or best practices for getting both locations in this one city to perform well. Thanks!

Finding citations
Just starting work on a client providing care services in the local area. They have a number of local branches in the area, but no Google+ page (which we will sorting shortly). One of the first things that struck me about the company is the offsite citations are a mess. Their addresses all have different information and they have several phone numbers for each branch. I've been trying to gather a full list so that I can go through them and either change them or ask for log in details if necessary. However, this is time consuming and there is no guarantee that I will get them all. I know that moz local has a tool to do this quickly, but it the grader seems to only work in the USA, we're based in the UK. I'm also trying to use whitespark to get a list, but this is difficult due to all the different phone numbers being used. Does anyone know of another tool that can speed up this process and ensure that I get all the citations?

Local Listing Question for Vet Office
We have done the off-page directory listings work for a veterinary office (submitting to the main data-aggregators, as well as sites such as CitySearch/Manta/Yelp) & now want to supplement those with submissions for each individual doctor. There are 8 doctors at their practice. The plan was to submit them to only 3 sites - the main data-aggregators of LocalEze, ExpressUpdateUSA & Factual. They only have one phone number (their main number) to use for listings. So can we submit the doctors all with the same number? Or is that a total waste of time b/c listings will end up being duplicated/merged down the road? What do you recommend that we do?
