My Site's Name Not Ranking in Google
-
Hey all,
I've seen a few posts like this. But I wanted to start a new thread in hopes I may find the underlying issue.
I've had my site: http://www.ctrl-alt-success.com for about 2 years. Recently I've started really adding a lot of content to it. (about 2-3 posts a week).
I get zero organic views which is fine as I know it's still in the beginning. But here's my main question.
If I type "ctrl-alt-success" into google. I get some site that shows up. "ctrlaltsuccess.com"
I've been looking at this issue forever. That site has been "coming soon" for nearly 2 years. lol
My site doesn't even show up on the first 10 pages of google. However in Bing and Yahoo it ranks on the first page.
What could my site be doing wrong that it's not even ranking for the exact domain name?
Keep in mind, if I google "ctrl-alt-success.com" my site comes up fine.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You may also want to go into your Google Webmaster Tools and "Fetch As Google".
Open your GWT > Click Crawl > Select "Fetch as Google". If you want Google to fetch your homepage you can leave the URL field blank and just click fetch.
-
A quick glance of your site passes the eye test.
- It's not set to NoIndex
- It's not blocking search engines via robots.txt
- Blog posts appear to be unique content and indexed
- Backlink profile is not spammy, in fact, nearly non-existent
If I had to take a guess after 5 minutes of research, I think you simply need to get a few more links to your site to get it ranking.

Do sites with more pages rank better?
If a site has more pages and also has good internal linking, then logically it would rank better. Is this the case? Should I be building big (but high quality) sites?

Google directs people to the wrong page on my site.
My site is split up into sections about different services my company offers. My problem is, when someone does a search for one of those services, My site's main page comes up rather than the page devoted to the particular service they were searching for. What can I do to make the pages about a specific service rank above my main page?

Client has 2 websites... won't do away with old site.
Ok my situation is: We have built a new site for a client and they would like to keep both sites working. Should I just attempt to optimize both sites to rank well in their area? Or should I be suggesting a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new? Other options? Thanks in advance

I'm ranking Position 7,8,11,12,13,14 &15 but would rather one page top three - are they competing?
For the search phrase "office design birmingham" in the uk. I have mutiple pages ranking in position 7,8,11,12,13,14 & 15! This is all very well but are they somehow competing? Am i better off doing something different to get one or two into the top 3 rather than 7 in the top 15?! Many thanks for your opinion and advice. James

Trouble with Old Site Name
Trying to figure out what is causing a site to show up under a former name in Google. The name of the client is Fortenberry Legal. They changed from Fortenberry Law Group over a year ago. I can't find any code on the site that uses the old name. For some reason, it still shows up as "Fortenberry Law Group" in Google. When I search for "Fortenberry Law Group," that shows up in Google with a full set of site links. When I search under the new name (Fortenberry Legal), that also shows up in Google but without the site links. Any thought on what could be causing this?

Long or Short URLs. Who's Coming to Dinner?
This has been discussed on the forums in some regard. My situation. Example 1 Long Keyword URL: www.abctown.com/keyword-for-life-helping-keywords-everywhere-rank-better Example 2 Short Keyword URL: www.abctown.com/keyword In both examples I want to improve rankings for the "keyword" phrase. My current URL is example 1. And I've landed a page one ranking in Google (7) with that URL. In attempts to improve rankings further (top 5), I was toying with the idea of going simpler with all my URLs in favor of the example 2 model. Might this method help or hurt my current rankings? In recent articles I've read it seems that going with the simpler more human approach to my SEO efforts. Any thought would be appreciated. Cheers,
