Open Site Explorer

I have entered my site (patioenjoyment.com) a few different times into the OSE and it never seems to find it, MOZ has found it because it has done the crawl test for me a few times, found some issues and I have been working on those. But I assume that if it is able crawl my site it should find it to run the OSE. It has come back with "**It looks like we haven't discovered established link data for this URL yet." everytime. **
Thanks,
Julie

Hey Julie,
Thanks for writing in and sorry for the confusion. Our link index is not created using our crawl test or campaign crawls of a site. The index is actually a completely separate database compiled by crawling the web and following the links we find there. Your site will only be included in Open Site Explorer if we find links to your site from outside sources.
Just so you know, here's how we compile our index:
- We grab the most recent index.
- We take the top 10 billion URLs with the highest MozRank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains).
- We start crawling from the top down until we've crawled 90,000,000,000 pages (which is about 35% the amount in Google's index).
Therefore, if the site is not linked to by one of these seed URLs (or one of the URLs linked to by them in the next update) then it won't show up in our index. Most new sites and links will be indexed by our spiders and available in Mozscape and Open Site Explorer within 60 days, but some take even longer for many of reasons, including the crawl-ability of sites, the amount of inbound links to them, and the depth of pages in subdirectories.
As Pixelbypixel mentioned, Majestic SEO and Ahrefs often have a larger index than we do because their tools are exclusively focused on links, while we have a wide variety of tools with an overview of a site rather than on one specific aspect of SEO or marketing.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.
Chiaryn

Hi Julie,
Rogerbot isn't as big as other bots so it takes him a little while to get about. did you make sure you gave him enough time?
Now if you really need to you can also try other sites like Majestic SEO & ahrefs to find links but again they will also need a bit of time (though i tend to find them a bit faster than OSE). Other things to remember is the more you links to a page the easier it is for it to be crawled so if you don't have any links on it it can take a bit longer too.
Hope that helps.

Page Authority different between Moz Open Site Explorer and On Page analyser
I have a client who has an old URL with 3 linking root domains and 4 links, with a PA of 24. This is on the open site explorer. There is a 301 redirect in place to direct this old url to the new url. When he uses the Moz bar on page, it shows that he has a PA of only 1 with no LRDs or inbound links? Can anyone please explain why this is happening and if this could affect further page links across his site? It would be appreciated. Kind regards

How does spammy linked site have zero spam score?
I came across a law firm site with hundreds of horrible spam links to it. Of the 3330 links, all but 231 links have anchor text that has to do with "jordan 11s for sale". I'm trying to see how useful the moz spam score is, but clearly it's not reliable if this site has a score of zero. Many of the obviously spammy sites linking to it also have low to zero spam scores, although there are plenty in the 5-10 range. (see attached image). I also noticed that many sites were legit sites, but if you look at the source code, there's tons of hidden spam links in the code (e.g., www.chickasawgardens.net) Why would this site have a zero spam score? If you're curious, put it into open site explorer and have a look. It's a law firm based in Pennsylvania, most anchor text has to do with jordan sneakers and most links are foreign: penn-criminallawyers.com Is the spam score too lenient? Is the moz tool unable to find spam links coming from legitimate sites with hidden spam links? DrokMbP

Twitter Data Does Not Appear in Open Site Explorer
Hi, I ran a search of more than 10 of my competitors in Open Site Explorer to have insights on their social activity. In every case I found "NA" marked against Twitter data. Does it mean there is no activity being performed by the urls against which i am running the query? Or it is something else? Wondering since there is much activity and data of course against Facebook and Google+ (same urls yeh!) Anybody could find time to share her/his knowledge please. Regards Tanveer

Open site explorer: error message "There was an error getting your data"
I"m trying out MOZ, wanting to make an informed decision (for myself and my blogging students) whether this is a useful program to buy and use. I've had no luck so far with the Open Site Explorer. Each time I try, I get the same error message, "There was an error getting your data". I used the URL: http://writetodone.com I asked about the problem in the chat, but my question was posed over an hour ago and is still marked 'unread'... I"m keen to continue studying the program as I'm creating a video about MOZ. How can I make the Open Site Explorer work? I've tried the Analytics module but it seems to take some days to get results. Open Site Explorer Social Stats Limited to 25 Results?
Hi Mozzers, I've exported a few open site explorer queries and was surprised to find that only 25 results returned social stats even for some really large websites. Is that a limitation in the search or a bug? I want to filter everything by twitter shares, so having a complete set of data for that stat is super important. Thanks! Tony
