Duplicate Page Content
-
Hi within my campaigns i get an error "crawl errors found" that says duplicate page content found, it finds the same content on the home pages below. Are these seen as two different pages? And how can i correct these errors as they are just one page?

Sorry for the delay in reply but thanks a lot for the info. This site is hosted on godaddy can all the above be done via their website management tools?

Hey Kevin
This is a common problem and is easily solved with a bit of URL rewriting.
Seeing that you are using PHP pages I will assume you are using a linux / apache web server so you need to create a .htaccess file. This is a configuration file that is processed by the web server and that you can use to tap into additional functionality from the web server.
RewriteEngine On
Options +FollowSymLinksRewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^./Home_Page.php
RewriteRule ^(.)index.php$ http://www.poolstar.net/$1 [R=301,L]It looks like you are also returning the same content at the www. and non www versions of the site as well so you want to pick one and stick with it. A quick look at open site explorer shows more links to the www. version so I would go with that but you are only looking at 2 to www and 1 to the non www version so if you have some other strong reason to use the domain without the www then don't worry about this too much (but tweak the below).
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^poolstar.net RewriteRule (.*) http://www.poolstar.net/$1 [R=301,L]
The full thing should look like the following *
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^poolstar.net [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.poolstar.net/$1 [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /index.php\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^index.php$ http://www.poolstar.net/ [R=301,L]
***** it should end here but the code highlighter is playing up *****
- Some servers are a little different and you may or may not need the follow symlinks or rewrite base lines. Try the above, if that does not work, give me a shout, happy to help.
Hope it helps

From now on link to your homepage as http://poolstar.net/ and set a 301 redirect in place from http://poolstar.net/Home_page.php to http://poolstar.net/
Not that it is any of my business, but I would really recommend to have someone redesign your website. It looks rather 1998 at the moment which is most likely costing you new customers and possibly (after Google Panda) is making it harder for you to rank high in the search engines as well.

Page Indexing without content
Hello. I have a problem of page indexing without content. I have website in 3 different languages and 2 of the pages are indexing just fine, but one language page (the most important one) is indexing without content. When searching using site: page comes up, but when searching unique keywords for which I should rank 100% nothing comes up. This page was indexing just fine and the problem arose couple of days ago after google update finished. Looking further, the problem is language related and every page in the given language that is newly indexed has this problem, while pages that were last crawled around one week ago are just fine. Has anyone ran into this type of problem?

Duplicate Content Issues with Pagination
Hi Moz Community, We're an eCommerce site so we have a lot of pagination issues but we were able to fix them using the rel=next and rel=prev tags. However, our pages have an option to view 60 items or 180 items at a time. This is now causing duplicate content problems when for example page 2 of the 180 item view is the same as page 4 of the 60 item view. (URL examples below) Wondering if we should just add a canonical tag going to the the main view all page to every page in the paginated series to get ride of this issue. https://www.example.com/gifts/for-the-couple?view=all&n=180&p=2 https://www.example.com/gifts/for-the-couple?view=all&n=60&p=4 Thoughts, ideas or suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Duplicate Page Content
Hello, After crawling our site Moz is detecting high priority duplicate page content for our product and article listing pages, For example http://store.bmiresearch.com/bangladesh/power and http://store.bmiresearch.com/newzealand/power are being listed as duplicate pages although they have seperate URLs, page titles and H1 tags. They have the same product listed but I would have thought the differentiation in other areas would be sufficient for these to not be deemed as duplicate pages. Is it likely this issue will be impacting on our search rankings? If so are there any recommendations as to how this issue can be overcome. Thanks

Are image pages considered 'thin' content pages?
I am currently doing a site audit. The total number of pages on the website are around 400... 187 of them are image pages and coming up as 'zero' word count in Screaming Frog report. I needed to know if they will be considered 'thin' content by search engines? Should I include them as an issue? An answer would be most appreciated.

Dealing with duplicate content
Manufacturer product website (product.com) has an associated direct online store (buyproduct.com). the online store has much duplicate content such as product detail pages and key article pages such as technical/scientific data is duplicated on both sites. What are some ways to lessen the duplicate content here? product.com ranks #1 for several key keywords so penalties can't be too bad and buyproduct.com is moving its way up the SERPS for similar terms. Ideally I'd like to combine the sites into one, but not in the budget right away. Any thoughts?

Duplicate content due to csref
Hi, When i go trough my page, i can see that alot of my csref codes result in duplicate content, when SeoMoz run their analysis of my pages. Off course i get important knowledge through my csref codes, but im quite uncertain of how much it effects my SEO-results. Does anyone have any insights in this? Should i be more cautios to use csref-codes or dosent it create problems that are big enough for me to worry about them.

If two websites pull the same content from the same source in a CMS, does it count as duplicate content?
I have a client who wants to publish the same information about a hotel (summary, bullet list of amenities, roughly 200 words + images) to two different websites that they own. One is their main company website where the goal is booking, the other is a special program where that hotel is featured as an option for booking under this special promotion. Both websites are pulling the same content file from a centralized CMS, but they are different domains. My question is two fold: • To a search engine does this count as duplicate content? • If it does, is there a way to configure the publishing of this content to avoid SEO penalties (such as a feed of content to the microsite, etc.) or should the content be written uniquely from one site to the next? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Duplicate content
I have just ran a report in seomoz on my domain and has noticed that there are duplicate content issues, the issues are: www.domainname/directory-name/ www.domainname/directory-name/index.php All my internal links and external links point to the first domain, as i prefer this style as it looks clear & concise, however doing this has created duplicate content as within the site itself i have an index.php page inside this /directory-name/ to show the page. Could anyone give me some advice on what i should do please? Kind Regards
