How long until links lead to a ranking increase?
-
I've gotten some good links to my homepage recently. How long until I'm likely to see an increase in ranking?
Let me know, thanks.

Obviously, this is just my opinion but this depends on several factors. I'll start with the main ones. If you'd like to see what these factors are, as a general guideline, you can refer to: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/rand/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/rank-factors-pie-2013lrg.gif
So the main ones as you have mentioned are links. But what type of links?
1. Quality Links from domains that have high DA (domain authority)
2. Quality Content - your page needs to have high PA (page authority)
3. Content Update Frequency
4. Relevant Content and keywords
5. Social Signals
What does this have to do with how long it will take? If you perform all of the above at 80% to 90% consistently, SPIDERS and SEARCH ENGINE CRAWLERS will crawl your site more often. And the easier you make this crawling activity is for the spiders, then better you rank and the better you rank, the more clicks you get. The more clicks you get from keywords, organic searches and relevant links, the more often search engines will crawl your site because in their mind, they are saying "wow, this site has great relevant content for XYZ keywords and it is updated often, I better crawl this site more often". I cannot comment on specific time frame but a good guide is 3 to 6 months for some real results. Of course if you have unlimited budget as in those startups and you have an old domain name that you purchased that is highly sought for, you can shortcut this time. For example, if the Malaysian Airline MH370 event happened, there was a lot of search in CNN traffic and you happen to have a link that day to your site. I bet you can increase SEO ranking very shortly.

Hi Rafe,
As already mentioned above, there is absolutely no telling how long it is going to take, or what impact the links will have. You need to be aware that Google doesn't look at every link you have and some of this depends on aspects we don't know and have no control over.
Keep building sensible links, create a natural link profile and don't go over the top. Remember that a handful of amazing links are always going to do more than many rubbish ones.

The short answer is "as long as it takes Google to reindex the pages you get links from". Some times it's a matter of days, other times weeks or months.
Most authoritative pages are frequently reindexed, so if they truly are great, then it should be days/weeks rather than months.

I'm sorry if I am giving bad news but 'some good links' just doesn't mean much. What do your competitors have? How relevant is your content? There is just a lot more to it than links..... give some more info and we can all look in to it.

Post index of quality back links; How long should you leave it to see if it's had any impact?
The question is pretty much in the title. We had a link from a Charity site (high PA/ DA) and from Metro online recently. Indexed about 3 weeks ago and 5 days ago respectively. No movement to speak off. (Previously we've seen significant boosts from far lesser links). Should I assume they have had no effect? Or is too early to tell I know it takes up to 2 months for some of our new pages to rank, same with passing authority from links? (Note: I appreciate the competition will play a significant part in this, but my question is specifically about how long one should leave to know one way or another. )

When do my links show up?
For the last two weeks I have been working on linkbuilding. I have downloaded competitors link reports and started contacting or submitting links. In the last two weeks I have gotten about 50-60 or so. In the newest report it shows I went up four c-blocks. Why is that? It is kind of discouraging.

Root Domain Link for Affiliate's Link
It seems my affiliate link: http://www.hrmsplugins.com?partners=21 is not being considered as a "root domain" backlink when this link is used on their website. Is there a reason for this?

Drop in rankings after gaining new link
Hi everyone I have seen an odd trend in my rankings over the past 6 months that I would like to hear your experiences about. Everytime a get a new link I see an imediate minor drop in rankings only to bounce back to a higher level tah before. Has anyone seen a similar trend in their rankings and what might be causing it? I have made no changes to the site during the link building process.

Do you stop link building once you have your desired rank?
So with all these updates hitting sites left, right and center. Now you have your desired rank on Google, do you stop link building for that project? I can see some positives in this You will not add links that will get hit by future updates. If you do get hit in future updates you have less links to remove. Obviously it an outstanding link came along from BBC or CNN you would go for that. But press releases etc would you now stop anything like that?

Buying links
I have 2 websites to pay monthly to gain links from, number 1 is on the homepage of a directory, it has a PA of 90 and DA of 88.
Link Building | | myloseo
the link will be on the right hand side along with 55 other featured sites.
these links are there throughout the whole site. number 2 is from a website with 20 max sponsored links on a page and will be one of the sub pages on the site with a PA of 74. How valuable if any would these links be? My current pa on the site i wish to send the links to is 26 Can i expect my PA to go up by much? Also i currently have 317 links from 7 root domains on my site will this effect the rank of the paid links? Thanks in advance0 -
Whats with these links
I have a competitor
Link Building | | AlanMosley
that has shot up lately taking number one spot for various keywords when I look
at his links in Open Site Explorer I find many links that are links to downloadable
objects, not web pages. A few
examples, if you click on them, do not open who knows what they are. But what
the story, how are these links to his site, anyone know anything about this. Linking articles to each other
I've been using white-hat article marketing to post original content about my niche to credible article directories (yes, I realize many of them were recently devalued). My question is: Is it a good or bad idea to have future articles link to older articles, as a way to increase the chances of having the older articles indexed, or increasing the amount of link juice they pass to my site (since they point to my site)? I get 2 links per article and was thinking of using 1 to point to a prior (related) article, and the other to point to my site.
