404 error for unknown URL that Moz is finding in our blog
-
I'm receiving 404 errors on my site crawl for messinastaffing.com. They seem to be generating only from our blog posts which sit on Hubspot. I've searched high and low and can't identify why our site URL is being added at the end - I've tried every link in our blog and cannot repeat the error the crawl is finding. For instance:
Referer is: http://blog.messinastaffing.com/take-charge-career-story-compelling-cover-letter/
404 error is: http://blog.messinastaffing.com/take-charge-career-story-compelling-cover-letter/www.messinastaffing.com
I agree that the 404 error URL doesn't exist but I can't identify where Moz is finding it. I have approximately 75 of these errors - one for every blog on our site.

Agree with Martijn - this is almost always caused by a link not properly including the http(s):// at the beginning..
Since it's occurring an all blog posts, it's likely a link in the navigation/sidebar/footer or other templated area of the pages.
You'll need to look in the pages' source code to find it.
[UPDATE] Yup, it's an incorrectly formatted link on line 100 of the page - part of your header menu.

You can see the href is missing the _http.

Hi Beth,
Did you check all the URLs that might be relative as well? It feels like one of your outgoing links might be missing the http:// part which makes crawlers think that the URL is relative.
Martijn.

Unsolved Using Weglot on wordpress (errors)
Good day to you all, Does anyone have experience of the errors being pulled up by Moz about the utility of the weglot plugin on Wordpress? Moz is pulling up URLs such as: https://www.ibizacc.com/es/chapparal-2/?wg-choose-original=false These are classified under "redirect issues" and 99% of the pages are with the ?wg-choose parameter in the URL. Is this having an actual negative impact on my search or is it something more Moz related being highlighted. Any advice be appreciated and a resolution .. Im thinking I could exclude this parameter.

Crawl Diagnostics 2261 Issues with Our Blog
I just recently signed up for MOZ, so much information. I've done the walk through and will continue learning how to us the tools. But I need your help. Our first moz crawl indicated 2261 issues (447 404's, 803 duplicate content, 11 502's, etc). I've reviewed all of the crawls issues and they are linked to our Yahoo hosted WordPress blog. Our blog is over 9 years old. The only issue that I'm able to find is our categories are not set up correctly. I've searched for WordPress assistance on this topic and cant find any issues with our current category set up. Every category link that I click returns Nothing Found Apologies, but no results were found for the requested archive. Perhaps searching will help find a related post. http://site.labellaflorachildrensboutique.com/blog/ Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

How to choose the best canonical URL
In a duplicate content situation, and assuming that both rel=canonical and a 301 redirect pass link equity (I know there is still some speculation on this), how should you choose the "best" version of the URL to establish as the redirect target or authoritative URL? For example, we have a series of duplicate pages on our site. Typically we choose the "cleanest" or shortest non-trailing-slash version of the URL as the canonical, but what if those pages are already established and have varying page authority/backlink profiles? The URLs are: example.com/stores/locate/index?parameters=tags - PA = 54, Inbound Links = 259 example.com/stores/locate/index - PA = 60, Inbound Links = 302 example.com/stores/ - This is the version that currently ranks. PA = 42, Inbound Links = 3 example.com/stores - PA = 40, Inbound Links = 8 This might not really even matter, but in the interests of conserving as much SEO value as possible, which would you choose as either the 301 redirect target and/or the canonical version? My gut is to go with the URL that's already ranking (example.com/stores/) but curious if PA, backlinks, and trailing slashes should be considered also. We of course would not 301 the URL with the tracking parameters. 🙂 Thanks for your help!

How to Learn a Lot from Moz Q&A
You can learn a lot from Moz Q&A without asking any questions. The way to do that is to watch for topics that you are uncertain about, then subscribe to that question by clicking the "Email Updates" button. Then, when people reply to that topic, you will be able to read what they have to say and will likely learn many things (and see a few entertaining arguments 🙂 Give it a try. You might subscribe to more questions than you think and learn many things that will improve your skills and expertise.

Mass Moz Grading
I want to know if there's a workaround to grade my individual pages for multiple keywords in a more efficient manner. Let's say for example (this is an extreme hypothetical) that I'm targeting these keywords: "Red Castles" "Blue Cars" "Green Bottles" on one page. I want to know if there is a way to run three grade reports at once for the single page that they're on with the Moz tools. Thanks a bunch!

How to handle crawl diagnostic errors for the same url. /products & /products/
I have copied on of the errors out of the crawl diagnostics report. Both /products and /products/ are returning an error, and both have pretty good domain authority so I feel like its hurting my site that these show up this way. Both urls create the same page, should I just setup a 301 on the /products with no slash or will that cause more harm... I am using the MODx cms system and that could have something to do with it. | Products | Datalight http://www.datalight.com/products 1 37 5 Products | Datalight http://www.datalight.com/products/ | 1 | 30 | 1 |
