Are Expires Headers Detrimental to SEO Health?
-
My dev was looking into Expires Headers to increase speed, but she don't know the ramifications behind them for SEO. What I found online is really old: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/blog/expires-headers-for-seo-why-you-should-think-twice-before-using-them
What do SEOs think?
Thanks in advance!

The best way to use expires headers for SEO is to set them to a reasonable value that will balance the need for caching with the need for search engines to crawl your website. A good rule of thumb is to set expires headers for static files, such as images, CSS, and JavaScript, to a long period of time, such as a year. For dynamic content, such as blog posts and product pages, you can set expires headers to a shorter period of time, such as a week or a month. -
No, Expires headers are not detrimental to SEO health. In fact, they can improve your SEO health by increasing your website's loading speed. When a browser loads a web page, it checks the Expires header for each resource on the page to see if it has a cached copy.
If it does, the browser will use the cached copy instead of downloading the resource from the server. This can save a significant amount of time, especially for visitors who are returning to your website.

No, Expires headers are not detrimental to SEO health. In fact, they can have a positive impact on website performance and user experience, which can indirectly affect SEO.
Expires headers are used to instruct the browser to cache specific resources, such as images, stylesheets, and scripts, for a certain period of time. This can significantly reduce page load time and improve website performance, which can in turn improve user experience and engagement.
When users have a good experience on your site, they are more likely to stay longer, share your content, and return in the future. These positive user signals can indirectly impact your SEO rankings by signaling to search engines that your site is valuable and relevant to users.
Therefore, using Expires headers can actually be beneficial to your site's SEO health, as long as they are implemented correctly and not set for too long of a period.

Stwórz plan: Stwórz plan żywieniowy i harmonogram treningów. Plan powinien zawierać zdrowe, zbilansowane posiłki i regularną aktywność fizyczną.
Jedz zdrowo: Zdrowe jedzenie to klucz do utraty wagi. Unikaj przetworzonej żywności, fast foodów, słodyczy i napojów gazowanych. Zamiast tego jedz świeże warzywa i owoce, chude białka (np. kurczaka, ryby), pełnoziarniste produkty zbożowe i tłuszcze roślinne (np. awokado, oliwki, orzechy).
Monitoruj postępy: Monitoruj swoje postępy, np. wagę, obwód talii i bioder, i dostosowuj swój plan w razie potrzeby.
Bądź cierpliwy: Odchudzanie to długoterminowy proces.

Hi Dana,
Expires headers and other caching headers can help improve site performance (as you said), and that will be a good thing for SEO. There is no reason to be concerned - they are common headers and there isn't much they could do to have any negative impact on SEO.
Good luck!
Tom

Is Removing Breadcrumbs Detrimental for SEO?
We have full navigational breadcrumbs on our site for the menu and the brand menu. i.e. Home > Clothing > Jackets Brand > Brand Name > Brand Jackets There's been talk of removing this and having it like Chico's does, where on item pages they just have a link at the top to previous category (i.e. you're on a shirt product page and at the top it says "Back to Tops" instead of listing Home > Clothing > Tops) Is doing something like this detrimental to SEO? From what I've read Breadcrumbs are for user experience but I just want to be sure.

Recommendation for SEO plugin for Wordpress
Dear Moz Community, Could I pick your brains on SEO plugins for WordPress? Our web developer has installed an SEO plugin called Yoast, and I am not quite sure of it's efficiency. The problem we have at the moment is that the Page Title is not updating on Google the way we anticipated. To solve this issue we unchecked forced rewrite under the title options, but this had no effect. For instance our name on Google appears as Man Van London all the time, despite any amendments we make it always has Man Van London at the start of the title. ( website: www.manvanlondon.co.uk) If Yoast is the best SEO plugin for wordpress, is there any solution to fix this issue? Or is anyone familiar with another plugin? Does anyone suggest to not use plugin's at all? Thank you for your time. Looking forward to your wisdom. Monica

Types of SEO Help
I have a web site that is going well but I think it could be better as far as usability and design. Also, I am sure an SEO professional would have some things to do to optimize. It seems though, that all the SEO companies either want to have along term contract or they don't work with my technology. Does anyone know of a company that would take my Visual Studio/C# project and tweak it for usability, design and SEO features for an hourly or set price?

Targeting by IP Address... SEO Issues?
I'm setting up a site to display a different site header graphic depending on which U.S. State the IP address is coming from. In theory we may end up doing 50 different images, although we'll probably start with 4 or 5 and then the other states will get a "default". How will the SE's treat this... if it's just an image change, but the text on the page is the same, will it affect anything? Any best practice advice out there? thanks!

Web server locations for international seo
We have a site that is currently hosted in the far east for the far eastern market. We are having issues with the hosting co. so we are considering bringing the site back onto our servers in the UK. However, we don't obviously want to damage too much the bit of uplift we get from local hosting. What is our best approach? Is it ok just to have the site in the UK even though its aimed at the Far East? Or is the use of a proxy server good? Or should we look for other local hosts? Any help very gratefully received. Iain

Webshop migration & SEO
Hi there I am migrating all products from my current trade website http://shop.snowbusiness.com/ to another platform. Whilst both are live, would i have to worry too much about duplicate content and no-follow the pages or is this overkill? Cheers, Ben

URL content format - Any impact on SEO
I understand that there is a suggested maximum length for a URL so as not to be penalized by search engines. I'm wondering if I should if should optimize our ecommerce categories to be descriptive or use abbreviations to help keep the URL length to a minimum? Our products are segmented into many categories, so many products URL's are pretty long if we go the descriptive route. I've also heard that removing the category component entirely from a product URL can also be considered. I'm fairly new to all this SEO stuff, so I'm hoping the community can share their knowledge on the impact of these options. Cheers, Steve
