Will subpages performance affects the overall SEO performance of the entire site?
-
I have site issues on certain subpages which I am not focusing for SEO, e.g. "News". I was wondering does the issues of these subpages affect my overall SEO performance (those pages which I will like it to be rank, e.g. "Products" page)?

It can do under certain circumstances, particularly if vulnerabilities are detected. If your news section had malware or if links from your news section were detected to HTTP resources (internal / external pages, images embedded from HTTP) that could cause problems (Google want everything on HTTPS now)
It would be unusual but there are certain circumstances where you could see wider impact(s). Another thing is, if the news section garnered your site a manual penalty, then quite often that could spread to all pages / keywords / rankings. Simply deleting the news section would be unlikely to restore performance instantly
If it were something like poor content or duplicate content, that would be more likely to just affect your news section without impacting your other pages (e.g: products) unless of course they shared the same issues
If the news section is riddled with technical errors it could bring the site health metrics for your overall domain slightly but in general the impact to the rest of the site should be non-radical
Hope that helps

Badges & SEO
Hello, Moz Community! We're working on creating an affiliate badge for events that make our best-of list and we're wondering: if every event website embedded the badge (could be as many as 70), would having the same image hosting URL for each one raise concerns with Google? Thanks!

Does anyone know if an increase in 804 HTTPS errors will affect SEO rankings?
We recently moved our whole site over from HTTP to HTTPS and we went from having 106 keywords in the top 3 positions to 80 in just one week. The only thing that I can think of that caused the drop is the HTTPS changes to our site. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If I want clean up my URLs and take the "www.site.com/page.html" and make it "www.site.com/page" do I need a redirect?
If I want clean up my URLs and take the "www.site.com/page.html" and make it "www.site.com/page" do I need a redirect? If this scenario requires a 301 redirect no matter what, I might as well update the URL to be a little more keyword rich for the page while I'm at it. However, since these pages are ranking well I'd rather not lose any authority in the process and keep the URL just stripped of the ".html" (if that's possible). Thanks for you help! Will Redirection of Unnatural Links to the New Domain will work?
Hi All, If a website www.mywebsite.com has received 100 unnatural links and because of that rankings are dropped. I want to follow the below strategy to protect my website from these 100 unnatural links. Please let me know if it will work: Buy a new domain www.newdomain.com with new whois record (Not related to www.mywebsite.com ) Do 301 redirection of all 100 unnatural links (Those are pointing to www.mywebsite.com) to www.newdomain (New domain) Do 302 redirection from www.newdomain (New domain) to www.mywebsite.com (Old Domain) After applying the above strategy, will google still consider those 100 unnatural links for Old domain??

Site links in the footer template – still good for SEO?
Hi there, When I did a redesign a few years ago, I had it in my mind that site links in 3 or 4 columns at the bottom of the home page, and every other page, would be good for SEO. Having links to interior pages using keywords and phrases from the home page and all that…. I think this might now be outdated thinking? As long as there are some links from the home page to important interior pages to pass link juice that is what matters? Google might not even looks at links in the footer? Is this correct? Thoughts? Thanks so much!

Site Architecture Trade Off
Hi All I'm looking for some feedback regarding a site architecture issue I'm having with a client. They are about to enter a re-design and as such we're restructuring the site URLs and amending/ adding pages. At the moment they have ranked well off the back of original PPC landing pages that were added onto the site, such as www.company.com/service1, www.company.com/service2, etc The developer, from a developer point of view wished to create a logical site architecture with multiple levels of directories etc. I've suggested this probably isn't the best way to go, especially as the site isn't that large (200-300 pages) and that the key pages we're looking to rank should be as high up the architecture as we can make them, and that this amendment could hurt their current high rankings. It looks like the trade off may be that the client is willing to let some pages be restructured so for example, www.company.com/category/sub-category/service would be www.company.com/service. However, although from a page basis this might be a solution, is there a drawback to having this in place for only a few pages rather than sitewide? I'm just wondering if these pages might stick out like a sore thumb to Google.
