Are you wanting to track the changes in rankings on the first page of search results for one specific site or are you wanting to be notified when any change happens in the SERPs?
Either way, you can use any rank tracking tool to monitor your website ranking changes for a list of keywords that you care about. Some of these tools take screenshots of the SERPs and give you the raw data to be able to analyze any movement for all URL's on the first page of the SERPs.
A couple good rank tracking tools are:
- Nozzle.io (I work here)
- getstat.com (Moz purchased them a year or two ago)
There are also plenty of other rank tracking tools that aren't as robust but will monitor your keyword list just fine. And if all your looking for is to track a few hundred phrases and you're already using their other tools you should just use one of the following:
- Moz Pro
- Ahrefs.com
- semrush.com
- agencyanalytics.com

How important is it to use a keyterm word-for-word to rank for that term?
I need your help to settle an argument here in our office. It boils down to improving our ranking for “driver education course Michigan.” One guy is convinced that if we want a site to rank for a multi-word keyterm like that, we need to use those exact words, in that order. He keeps creating pages with really awkward H1 titles and H2 subheadings using that exact phrase. H e claims appeal to search engines, but I think the cumbersome syntax is off-putting to any potential people who come to our site. Another guy claims that search engines are more sophisticated than that. He says we don’t need those exact words; it’s enough that the text on the page include “Michigan,” “driver education,” and “driver education course” a few times each. Even related terms like “drivers ed,” “driving school,” and “driver education classes” will help us to rank higher for “driver education course Michigan,” according to this guy. Neither of them can convince the other, and meanwhile I don’t know which to believe. Can you help?

Wrong page ranking for keyword.
I have a page i'm trying to rank for certain keywords around "emergency vet clinic" the page is domain.com/emergency-vet-care but my home page is the one that is ranking better and better. How can I get the other page to rank for e.g. "emergency vet care" , "emergency animal care" and the main page to rank for just regular vet care? My on page looks pretty good. I've also taken out most references to emergency care on the main home page except for the one link to it. Thanks

Keywords with no search volume
Hi there! What are your thoughts on optimizing pages for keywords that have no search volume (using the Keyword Planner)? I'm not sure it should be done, since optimizing for keywords that no one searches for is kind of useless, right? Or should I do it hoping that sometime in the future the keyword will have a surge on searches? Thanks!

Should I make a blog post or landing page to rank?
Hi, I have some keywords (2-5 words) which I would like to rank for (and use them for AdWords campaigns). Also, I have some great and helpful content for those user queries to share. Now what is the better strategy?: Create a blog post for AdWords and later SEO rankings? Create a landing page for AdWords and later SEO rankings? Would love to here your thoughts and experiences on this issue... Best, Robin

In Need of Excel Formula to Manage Export from Adwords Keyword Tool
Hi All, I was wondering if anyone had an excel formula that they use to manage large amounts of data in spreadsheet exports from the Google Adwords Keyword Tool? Specifically, I am interested in something that establishes a solid corollary between a given keywords competition score and the amount of local/global monthly searches. Any suggested ideas or methods are very welcome. Thanks!

Is there a way to identify the phrases and pages involved in your URLS receiving search visits?
Our client seems to get 20 - 30 visits a month to pages which people arrived on via a search, without visiting home page and navigating there. Is there a way we can identify both the phrases the person used to arrive at the page, and the page itself? The graph is tantalizing, but without deeper insight into what the phrases and pages were, we can't focus on the phrases in question. And we'd like to do this, because the phrase may represent potential long tail phrases we could use. Thanks! Eric.

On Page Optimization vs. Anchor Text
Is it hard to get a page to rank for a particular term if the majority of the anchor text pointing to that page is different from your chosen term?
