SEOMoz Bug?
-
Hi--
I was using the SEOMoz toolbar, and I went to this page -
http://www.hark.com/clips/dxkdbdggyh-hes-totally-lucid-100-percent
and it says "zero" links from anywhere. However, it's clearly linked to from the home page -
Why would this be?
-
Ryan's right - it's because the page isn't in our index yet. You can verify this at www.opensiteexplorer.org. Sorry about that! Most new sites and links will be indexed by our spiders and available in Linkscape and Open Site Explorer within 60 days, but some take even longer for a plethora of reasons, including crawl-ability of sites, the amount of inbound links to them, and the depth of pages in subdirectories. Just so you know, here's how we do our index: we take the last index, take the 10 billion URLs with the highest mozrank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains), and start crawling from the top-down until we've crawled 40,000,000,000 pages (which is about 1/4 of the amount in Google's index). Therefore, if the site is not linked to by one of these seed URLs (or one of the URLs linked to by them in the next update) then it won't show up in our index
We update our Linkscape Index every 3 to 5 weeks. Crawling the whole internet to look for links takes 2-3 weeks. And then we've got 1-2 weeks of processing to do on those links to determine which are the most important links etc. You can see a schedule of how often we update, and planned updates here: http://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/345964-linkscape-update-schedule
Linkscape focuses on a breadth-first approach, and thus we nearly always have content from the homepage of websites, externally linked-to pages and pages higher up in a site's information hierarchy. However, deep pages that are buried beneath many layers of navigation are sometimes missed and it may be several index updates before we catch all of these.
If our crawlers or data sources are blocked from reaching those URLs, they may not be included in our index (though links that points to those pages will still be available). Finally, the URLs seen by Linkscape must be linked-to by other documents on the web or our index will not include them.
For now, the best thing you can do to help your domain become indexed is to work on link building for links from sites with high mozrank.
I hope this helps! This is more of a customer service question than an SEO question, so in the future, if you have a question about our site or tools, please email it to [email protected] to get faster service. Thank you David!
Best of luck.

Thanks for clarifying David. I now understand your question.
Using the SEOmoz toolbar's Analyze button, Link Data tab you are viewing the "Internal Followed Links" field and it shows as 0, when you clearly have links to your page.
The issue is the tool uses information from SEOmoz's monthly crawl of the web. SEOmoz only uses data from the top 25% of web pages on the internet. If the site you are looking at isn't very well linked and very popular, then you wont see the data you seek.
I don't like it at all and am seeking a better tool myself.
-
I think you may still be misunderstanding. I went to the page tab you showed, and here were the results:
| Internal Followed Links | 242 |
| Internal Nofollow Links | 2 |
| External Followed Links | 4 |
| External Nofollow Links | 1 |However, that's obviously measuring links on this page to other pages. I'm looking for links TO this page, to measure the success of this page, and it's all zeros. However, this is plainly not the case - there's a link from the home page to this page. That's the bug I'm talking about.
-
David, I am trying to help you here.
Please take another look at my initial reply.
-
-
That refers to EXTERNAL links, not internal ones.
Press the <analyze>button on your SEOmoz toolbar, then click to the Page Attributes tab as I mentioned above. There you will see the internal link information.</analyze>
-
I don't believe so - see the attached screen shot.
Right at the top, next to "PA" it says "0"
-
I believe you are looking at the Link Data tab which analyzes links TO the page you are viewing from other sources.
You want to look at the Page Attributes tab.

Nofollow links appear to be still included in SEOMOZ crawl and Google
I have added the nofollow tag to links throughout my site to hide duplicate content from Google but these pages are still being shown in my SEOMOZ crawl. I also fetched an example page with the Googlebot within Webmaster tools and it showed all nofollow links. An example is http://www.adventurepeaks.com/news All News tags have nofollow but each tag is appearing in my SEOMOZ crawl report as duplicate content. Any suggestions on whether this is a problem or if i have applied the tag incorrectly? Many thanks in advance

SEOMoz Crawling Errors
I recently implemented a blog using WordPress on our website. I didn't use WordPress as the CMS for the rest of our site just the blog portion. So as an example I installed Wordpress in http://www.mysite/blog/" not in the root. My error report in SEOMoz went from 0 to 22e. The Moz bot or crawler that SEOMoz uses is reporting a ton of 4xx errors to strang links that shouldn't exist anywhere on the site. Example: Good link - http://www.mysite/products.html Bad link reported by SEOMoz - http://www.mysite/blog/my-first-post/products.html I've also noticed that my page speed as become much slower as reported by Google. Does anybody know what could be happening here? I know that typically it's better to install WordPress in the root and use it to control the entire site but I was under the gun to get a blog out. Thanks

DoubleClick Floodlight tags & SEOMoz Chrome App
Hi guys Newbie here looking for some advice from you SEO gurus. I've installed SEOMoz's chrome app and, visiting my site's homepage, when I open click the SEOMoz icon and it opens the dialogue window, i get analytics for a doubleclick url. Now, my homepage does have a doubleclick tag on it, but it's waay down in the page source. Is there something I should be doing here to stop this happening? Surely the app should find my site's URL over the DoubleClick tag? Looking at the guidelines for DoubleClick, it says that the Floodlight tags need to be placed between the tags. They're sitting outside these tags on my homepage. Do you think this might be causing the issue? I'm sure this is going to be an embarrassing lesson in SEO 101, but I'm keen to learn and to fix this if possible. Thanks!

How can I prevent sh404SEF Anti-flood control from blocking SEOMoz?
I'm using sh404SEF on my Joomla 1.5 website. Last week, I activated the security functions of the tool, which includes an anti-flood control feature. This morning when I looked at my new crawl statistics in SEOMoz, I noticed a significant drop in the number of webpages crawled, and I'm attributing that to the security configurations that I made earlier in the week. I'm looking for a way to prevent this from happening so the next crawl is accurate. I was thinking of using sh404SEFs "UserAgent white list" feature. Does SEOMoz have a UserAgent string that I could try adding to my white list? Is this what you guys recommend as a solution to this problem?

Not sure to see the real value of SeoMoz!
Still one week left for my trial. I did not get the result I wanted to have on my ranking, I know it takes time and patience to get there. Even if I consider myself as tech savvy, I have the impression that even if you have the best tools to monitor what is going on that you still have to spend to much time to get better ranking. I would prefer to give the contract to someone else rather than spending time trying to figure out what is going on. I am in some sort of a catch22. I need to increase my ranking, I know my competitors have more backlinks then I can possibly reach ( we have 55 and they have around to 78000). I am wondering how they got all these backlinks in just 2 years. We've been in business much longer.. I could confirmed that my On-page SEO is very good, it's really on my backlinks that I have problems. I see already some of you saying that I have to create rich content, but for a B2B companiy, it's not as easy to generate the proper content and get the backlinks needed. Is there a very quick way to increase backlinks very quickly ?
