Creating Sub Pages To Target Specific Keywords
-
Hi Guys,
Hope you can answer this question.
Our website is currently on the first page in position 6 for a competitive keyword, domain is 11years old and currently has a PR of 4.
At the moment there are 4 competitors above us one of which as two listings, they have managed to do this by creating a page dedicated to the keyword. E.g www.ourdomain.co.uk/key-word.html.
Do you think we would achieve a good ranking if we built the same page but with fresh content and links pointing to that page?
Cheers.

We put up a new keyword landing page with original keyword rich content last Friday. Sent out some tweets and it was indexed by google by Monday. It drove up the SERPS of our keyword by Monday, but only for our home page. Even though this landing page isn't ranking yet, the results to our homepage are nothing short of amazing. We also have it linked a few times throughout our site. We're building some quality links to it now and are putting up another landing page tomorrow with the same execution plan. BTW, we are also PR4 and in a very competitive national niche, so getting to first page has been challenging. Before the new article we were pages 2-3 now we are pages 1-2.

You're welcome.
I'd create the links once the page has been created. The links will help the new page get cached and start ranking. The only reason you wouldn't want to create links to that page is if that page presents more obstacles to converting a customer. But you should focus on removing those obstacles rather than avoiding linking to the page.

Hi Joe,
Thanks for the reply.
What would you opinion be on creating links to that page? would you wait for that page to be cached and ranking before you start creating links? OR create the links before its cached and ranking?

I think you could achieve good rankings by following that technique. Typically, you would want one page dedicated to each keyword you're targeting. This can get out of hand, but if you have good, unique content for that page/keyword, definitely create it.

Why have I slipped off the 1st page?
Hi Forum, this has me baffled. I'm an experienced SEOer and have many sites ranking well for their clients but this one has me completely demented. I work for Easigrass.com and we used to rank on page one for the key term "artificial grass". Now we're on page 3 and this has all happened since we launched the new (Better) site in February 2016. We have better content, better seo, better social media and better linking than all of the major competitor sites but we still seem to be falling down the ranks. I don't know if its me just trying too hard and missing simple things but I cant see if we're being penalized or not. For searches performed in the UK we're currently 22nd (we used to be 5th!) Our competitors are; artificial-grass.com

artificiallawn.co.uk The one area that keeps popping up is potentially keyword stuffing but that can't be the only problem. We must be getting penalised somewhere!0 -
Keyword strategy for wordpress category base blog in competitive industry
Hi friends, We have a client in the movie review blog industry, which we are aware is highly competitive, but we have tons of content (over 10,000 unique posts) and a good team of reviewers for fresh content. I was wondering about any input on keyword variations for our SEO Title of our wordpress main categories, like "Movie Reviews". I was thinking a modification to "Latest Movie Reviews", but the competition is only slightly less, and still seems questionable for attaining eventual rankings. "Best Movie Reviews" is slightly higher than "Latest Movie Reviews" but the competition still seems tough. What would be a good long term strategy with these category pages, any suggestions?

How To Rank For Easy Keywords (24-26 keyword competitivness)
Hello Moz members, Quick Question for today !!
Competitive Research | | SebastianP
Please, who is involved in backlinking processes/White hat SEO these kind of things pm me, I really appreciate some great responses to this specific thread. I have a blog 3 months old with quality articles on it (600 to 1000 words each article+fotos+videos+infographics), and the keyword targeted that is on the homepage have that 26 kW competitiveness keyword. What I really need to focus on if I want to be number 1 for that term? somehow on social media more?
My competition seems to have little to no backlinks, but they have a domain or PA bigger than 30. How can I increase my domain and page authority faster?I still have 30 backlinks and PA/DA and also PR = 0. I want to know specifically which tasks I need to Master if I want to be number 1 in Google for a keyword that have JUST 26 Keyword competitiveness in MOZ.
I mean, this is a very easy keyword to rank for but I didn't rank yet. Maybe from my description you can give me some gold nuggets here Thank you so much ! Regards,

What's the value of Exact Match Keyword Domains vs. Company Name Domains?
Hey Mozers, I was in a discussion this morning about the value of Exact Match Keyword domains vs. a company name domain and wanted to get a little more clarification. Let's say we are doing a site for a company called Favored Dental, and they have had the domain favoredental.com for quite a while and have their authority built up in it. Is it better to have favored-dental.com or favoreddental.co or keep its current form? The reasoning behind the alternate domains would be they have the exact match keyterm, in this case lets say "Favored Dental" is the keyterm we were going after. To my knowledge EMDs aren't as relevant as they'd use to be as Google would rather branding of companies instead of keyterm domains? Is this correct, or do EMDs of keywords you're going after hold higher authority? Thanks for the clarification!

Does anyone know of a keyword difficulty API?
Hi Mozzers, I've made a script that uses the Google Adwords API to insert big lists of keywords ideas and their monthly search volume into our database. It would be awesome to be able to also automatically get a difficulty score for those keywords from a tool like the SEOmoz Keyword Difficulty Tool. Sadly this tool doesn't seem to be in the SEOmoz API. Google does provide a competition score in the AdWords API, but that's only based on the competitiveness of the AdWords auction for that keyword. So my question is: does anyone know another keyword difficulty tool, that does have an API? Thanks! Daan
