Bing and Yahoo rankings

I must admit its every 3 months or so I check these listings
I would even admit we are that engrossed in google we forget these sites exist many times. I wanted to see if anyone had experience doing sep for these sites and what sort of techniques you used in order to help improve these rankings.
I tend to get great listings on Yahoo for many sites but bing seems slightly different.
Would love to find out some information on the algos on each of these.

If you haven't already you could take a look at this article from a year ago:

The thing is that all 3 search engines use pretty similar ranking factors.
For example Bing/Yahoo/Google all love the following:
1. Links from relevant sources.
2. Great relevant unique content.
3. Great on site design for crawler access.
4. All onsite SEO and off site factors, some small changes like the size of title tags/urls ect may be slightly different on each website.
You can also optimize for Bing webmaster tools for example you need to add every thing in a similar way to Google webmaster tools:
www.bing.com/toolbox/webmaster/
Also Bing Ranking information can be found here:
If you have not done this I would highly recommend it, you can even use keyword research from Bing.
I also agree with DMAC that Bing seems to favour EMD domains (exact match domains) more so then Google does, I have tinkered around with a few tests on Bing and that is evident.
Also Bing has more social data to play with so you even need to push social rankings harder on Bing as they have the Facebook data access, which Google does not.
I hope this helps.
Kind Regards,
James Norquay

there must be someone out there that just targets Bing specifically perhaps its less competitive. I also noticed recently that Bing has shopping results.

I check both yahoo and bing regularly. It seems like Yahoo pretty much treats us about the same as Google. Bing gives us very high ranking only for the keywords that best describes our site. It seems like the keywords are tougher to get ranking on, but the ones that do enjoy the fruits of success. We don't do any SEO specifically for yahoo or bing. Thats my and I'm sticking with it.

SERP Ranking
Hi everyone, I'm struggling to figure out why our website has dramatically changed and is ranking far worse than ever. We were top for around 10 keywords, and had over 4 high traffic keywords in position 1. I think the website needs updating (as it's magento 1.7), and that the competition is increasing. Taking our eye off the ball has been a huge mistake. Could anyone advise on what the next steps would be to start increasing to a better serp rank? These two are own main ranking pages:

Keyword rank and redirecting
I'm creating a new amazon affiliate site. I've researched other successful sites. I've noticed that they are ranking for 1000s of keywords, but many of these long tail keywords are redirected back to a main page. I can see how this can reduce the overall total amount of content pages on the site. How are you able to rank for the keyword in the first place if the the page is redirected?

Ranking problems with international website
Hey there, we have some ranking issues with our international website. It would be great if any of you could share their thoughts on that. The website uses subfolders for country and language (i.e. .com/uk/en) for the website of the UK branch in English. As the company has branches all over the world and also offers their content in many languages the url structure is quite complex. A recent problem we have seen is that in certain markets the website is not ranking with the correct country. Especially in the UK and the US, Google prefers the country subfolder for Ghana (.com/gh/en) over the .com/us/en and .com/uk/en versions. We have hreflang setup and should also have some local backlinks pointing to the correct subfolders as we switched from many ccTLDs to one gTLD. What confuses me is that when I check for incoming links (Links to your site) with GWT, the subfolder (.com/gh/en) is listed quite high in the column (Your most linked content). However the listed linking domains are not linking at all to this folder as far as I am aware. If I check them with a redirect checker they all link to different subfolders. So I have now idea why Google gives such high authority to this subfolder over the specific country subfolders. The content is pretty much identical at this stage. Has any of you experienced similar behaviour and could point me in a promising direction? Thanks a lot. Regards, Jochen

Ranking of Travel Sites in SERPs
Hello, I have noticed that some travel sites rank for almost all the keywords but when I click the page, it has no relevant content and often no content at all. I remember Google once updated its algorithm to do away with such sites but I still found some. The question is - if they don't have relevant content or if they don't have content at all, how do they even rank? Secondly, how come they have pages for all keyword combination? How is this achieved? Regards

Website No Longer Ranking In Google:
My website was on first page google couple of months ago, now nothing. Shows up in Bing page one. Some queries/pages still showing OK, but some not at all. Example "residential elevators illinois" found nowhere. http://www.accesselevator.net is the website. Have found 900 poor quality links and used disavow tool. Any further suggestions? Their Page Rank also went from a 3 to a 2. Implemented nofollow on all outgoing links. Need advice.

My brand is not ranking on Android Google SERPs
In the new blog post here, she links to mobilemoxie, a site which allows you to do searches on various different smartphones. I tried a search for my brand, "ixl.com" on an iPhone 4 and a Android phone, the Motorola Droid X. On the iPhone, our brand appears in #1 like normal, but on the Android phone, our result doesn't appear on the first page. Any ideas as to why this would be the case? We're currently developing a mobile version of our site but we don't have one yet. Could that be the issue?
