The benefits of having it in the subfolder when the the topic is relevant to the main site are clear - another thing to remember is in terms of your marketing/link building work it's much easier to get strong links to your main site and then inner link to your blog/blog posts.

Hi,
My advice is to have the blog on a subfolder within your website, it will have a positve effect for your SEO.
Example: www.website.com/blog
Do not have the blog on a sub domain i.e: blog.website.com or do not have it on a random website example: randomcmopanyblog.com
When you have the blog on a subfoler you can gather internal link juice and also have a positive range of fresh content on the website.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
James.

Generally speaking, if your blog covers the same topic as your main website, then you would benefit most from having the blog as part of your site within the main domain. An example URL would be mysite.com/blog.
By keeping your blog as part of your site, you only have to maintain one website and one URL which is cheaper and less time consuming then maintaining a separate site.
The primary reason to consider a separate site would be if your blog would cover topics not associated with your main site. If you offered a site which sold vitamins and you wanted to regularly include articles about travel, nature and other topics that did not relate back to your core business, it would be best to use a separate site for your blog.

Web page or blog ? Which one is preferable
Hello, For one of our sites, 19 keywords are ranking on Home page. But, the home page doesn't have content with those keywords. I am afraid that with Google updates, we will eventually lose all the ranking position for these keywords. Should we ask the client to create blog around those keywords or create separate pages ? Thanks

Moving from Blogspot to blog hosted on our domain
Hi there, I work for a furniture retailer in the UK and I have a question about moving our blog. We have had a blog at www.ourcompany.blogspot.co.uk since 2012 and it was last updated mid 2014. There are about 100 posts and the content is actually really good, not spammy in any way and not stuffed with links to our site. The content is essentially guides to buying the right furniture. We have now launched blog functionaility on our website at www.ourcompany.co.uk/blog as I feel this is a better long-term solution to increasing site traffic and page rank. I want to pick your brains on the best way to handle the old content. A: Copy all the Blogspot content across and back date it to the same date it was originally published and then delete the old Blogspot account? Or will Google see this as duplicate content. B: Backup all the Blogspot content now, delete the Blogspot account and then repost this content at a later date? Will this still be seen as duplicate content? 😄 something else. Thanks for reading.

Hi, I am going to move my blog hosted on wordpress.com to a folder under mysite.com. (e.g. mysite.com/blog/). I start to think after the blog has gone live there will be duplicated content issue because I am going to import my posts in last 2 years onto the new location. I what way can I avoid that happen? Can I set something up (e.g. 301 redirect) in my current wordpress.com account? Any advice. Please help! Thanks

Help on blog topics for my niche
I'm looking for a couple of blogging ideas to get the ball rolling (mainly in my head) for one of the company websites I am working on. The site is https://perco.co.uk The company is based around offering trenchless technology across the UK. The first couple of posts are more like 'Latest news' items and I have only really come up with an idea of 'microtunnelling vs directional drilling'. I didn't seem to get much out of ubersuggest, soovle and google instant. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks

Should we implement rel=author on every past blog post
Hi guys, we're in the process of implementing rel=author markup on our blogs containing more than 3,000 posts. They are written by about 50 different people, and some of them don't blog anymore or are no longer with the company. Should we have rel=author for all blog posts, even those published in 2006? Thanks for your help!

Blog Anchor Text SEO Query
Apologies if the following is a basic question but I am just starting out with SEO and I have seen this quite a lot recently on sites I have been on. My question is if you have a self hosted blog e.g. blog.site.com or site.com/blog and you use keyword anchor text in your blog post does that bring SEO benefits in itself or does the blog post have to be shared/commented by readers to have an effect? I have seen/heard of many sites spending a lot of money getting copy done or spending their own time and resources starting a blog but the blogs remain unshared or comment-less. I am starting my own blog to go with my social media and website so I wanted to establish the basics. Thanks in advance guys.
