So if you rank well for the long tail, does that help your ranking for the short tail?
-
So say for instance you rank well in "online medical billing software." Does that help or influence your rank for derivatives of it (eg: "medical billing," "billing software," or "online medical billing")?
-
Awesome! Thank you Anthony and Albin.
-
Absolutely. If you're a good link builder and gets high rankings on "online medical billing software", you should absolutely get good rankings on the shorter tail.
-
They're probably positively correlated, but I wouldn't say there is causation. Naturally, any website ranking well for a given long-tail term is probably doing a lot of things right. That doesn't necessarily mean that they will be competitive for a short-tail term, however. Oftentimes, long-tail terms are of such low competition that a website can rank well for them with on-site elements in the right places and perhaps a link or two. Short tail keywords, especially the most competitive ones, oftentimes require very extensive linkbuilding campaigns.

Hi guys! Is there a tool (other than SEMRush) that can show you which keywords are ranking for Google Knowledge Graph? Thanks :)
I've also seen that you can get some data about this in Search Metrics but can't see where? Thanks for your help!

Importance of news headlines for their search rankings
Hi there, we're trying to determine how to best write headlines to make our articles more findable. We're a Theater content and ticketing site (theatermania.com) and we're about to publish an article describing outdoor Shakespeare in New York City. We've discussed a few headline options (we automatically use the headline as the page title, although we aren't married to this) below. Are any of these much more findable than the other? For example, are we shooting ourselves in the foot if we lead with "Fill your Summer...." in the first option? Does my website have a bad rank in google because EMD or lack content ?
Hello, I'm a beginner I just started my website xxx a few days ago. I submitted my url to several good quality directories (about 20, the last 3 days), I tried to write different descriptions for each directory. I have a very bad rank on google results (28+) for keywords "psychologue montluçon" I don't know if it's because of : lack of content, EMD, lack of backlinks (I submitted my website to directories, but its seems it takes a lot of time for updates). Sorry for bad english, if you can help, thank you !

Any thoughts on how to reverse engineer a well-performing page?
I am working with a client (http://healthagy.com) to help drive traffic around specific health topics around clinical research. I'm stumped about how one of the pages (http://healthagy.com/botox-for-migraines-6-things-you-need-to-know/) can get around 5,000 visits a month, while the next most-visited page gets around 200. I don't know if we just got lucky or it was the right place/right time or what. I'm trying to figure out what I can research about this page to get insights to build more great content around other topics. Any ideas?

Is there a point in ranking non-competitive terms?
Hello, I wanted to know if you could still make $$$ of a term that is not competitive for people. For example if a keyword is a quote, an idea, topic, or something that isn't real but still brings more than 1K exact search a month (Several terms come out to more), how can this be monetized? If it can't, could you just own one to show off?

The long tail
I've been focusing on the long tail for one of my websites. I've been getting good traffic that has been converting well for me. So far i've mostly been using wordtracker and google keyword tool to find long tail keywords. I did try hitail for a few months, but it gave me very few extra keywords. Does anyone know of some other tools out there to find more long tail keywords? Thanks
