Get to the top of Google in 30 days?
-
I see on sites like scriptlance where webmasters post a project for SEO services and bidders offering their services to get you to the top of Google in 30 days. Is that out of the question or is it reasonable because they use a service like SEOMoz?

I like your driveway story. I will resist the temptation!
When i think back to when I first started a website for my parent's company, I hired a web designer. I paid him about $1000, I think, about 8 years ago. It looked great and I said thanks and I was very pleased with it.
It had about 60 products at the beginning. Then in due time,I wanted to change the kicker line and sidebar navigation. I had to change 60 pages!
I then learned PHP on my own and fixed the website. I didn't think they could do something similar with SEO, but, I guess from the responses, you can.

I once had a marketing company say they were on page one of Google, when i looked further into it it was number 3 in Google adwords!!!
Be careful lots of scammers out there!
-
I'd read the fine print. I bet what they do is find a keyword that has low-med competition that is related to the desired keywords. Then they work (probably through not so honest techniques) to make you tops in the category.
My advice, or what I'm doing right now for my startup site, is to make social media the center piece of my seo campaign. Basically I use social to create honest converstations about my keywords and topics. This (eventually) leads me to posting and guest blogging on high readership blogs.
Not a 30 day technique. But might be more sustainable.
-
Great way of relating this to the drive way story. I agree, dont do it, you will drop as fast as you rank.
-
My advice: don't do it.
Sure, the sites might have good feedback now. They probably used dubious tactics that work for a while. Then the tactics stop working. At best, their clients' rankings drop. At worst, penalties are imposed.
It's a bit like asking people about whether they are satisfied with someone who paved their driveway for $99. At first, they will say they are delighted. But try asking 6 months later, after the driveway has cracked.
If you are determined to follow through, at least ask the providers for six references:
- who have been clients for a year
- who you can call yourself
-
I get what you're saying, but, some of them have really good feedback, it makes me tempted to pay one of them to see what they do. I might use one of my cheap sites I bought of flippa with medium-high competition that I'm willing lose if they screw up the site.
But, I'm going to wait to see some further responses.

I've gotten a website to the top in less than 30 days before. I had hundreds of domains already pointing at it, no competition and only had to throw in a keyword for the title tag. Quite impressive, right?
But really, there are ways to achieve immediate top rankings for low-medium competition words, but many will get you knocked down as fast as you came up. The only difference would be getting a high quality relevant link from places like the New York Times.

Thirty days.
That might be possible for some really easy terms such as "dancing pink hippo sneakers"... but if you wanted to get top rankings for terms such as "texas holdem"..... "payday loans"..... "digital cameras".... "physical chemistry"... it would be virtually impossible with the resources of any scriptlance bidder.
Taking a page to the top of google for any of those terms would be very expensive and I am willing to say beyond the skill level and resources for at least 95% of the SEOs on this planet - even if you gave them an unlimited amount of time and a $100,000 budget.

Is the Google results serp broken?
Hi everyone! We've been trying to decipher how many of our pages are indexed by google at the moment. If we do the usual "site:https://www.hobbydb.com" search term, the serp says that we have more than 740,000 pages indexed. However, when I do a deep dive and click through to the last page of results, I can only get to page 54, and then there are no more results. This would mean that I only have 540 pages indexed, not 740,000. We have also done other queries for other sub-sections of our website, and the results also truncate at 50 pages. Has anyone run into this problem? Any suggestions are appreciated! Best, Alex

I am trying to figure out why a website is not getting fully indexed by google. Any ideas?
I am trying to figure out why a website is not getting fully indexed by google. The website was built with Godaddy's website designer so maybe this is the problem. Originally, the internal links throughout the navigation were linked to “pages” within the site. I went in and changed all of these navigation links to point to the actual url links throughout the site instead of relative links pointing to pages on the server. I thought this would have solved the problem because I thought that perhaps google was not able to follow the original relative links. When I check to see how many pages are in the google index I still see the same #. What is going on? Should this website be rebuilt using more search engine friendly code like wordpress? Is there a simple fix that will enable google to find all of this content created by Godaddy design software? I appreciate any help offered. Here is the site- http://www.securehomeusa.com/

How is Google finding our preview subdomains?
I've noticed that Google is able to find, crawl and index preview subdomains we set up for new client sites (e.g. clientpreview.example.com). I know now to use "meta name="robots" and robots.txt) to block the search engines from crawling these subdomains. My question though, is how is Google finding these subdomains? We don't link to these preview domains from anywhere else, so I can't figure out how Google is even getting there. Does anybody have any insight on this?

How can we get google to know we are a lifestyle magazine
hi, i have a website which is a lifestyle magazine www.in2town.co.uk before we had to build out site from scratch due to a major error from our hosting company we ranked number one for the word lifestyle magazine but since then we have always ranked number five. This week that has dropped to number seven and i would like to know, what do we need to do to let google know we are a lifestyle magazine. I am not sure what we need to do. i know we should have important keywords on the home page but i am not sure where to put these without making the site look silly. can anyone let me know if we should have an introduction and if so where shall we put this. we would really like to increase our page rank for lifestyle magazine but are struggling to know where to put text that will not make the site look silly. Also, can anyone let me know what other keywords we should be aiming for please; We are currently making major changes to our site to make it better.

How can I optimise for Google Products?
Has anyone got experience of optimising Google Products (Google Base) feeds? I've noticed that, although my site doesn't often appear on page one in the standard results, we occasionally appear right at the top because of the "universal" shopping results. My question is: how can we make this happen more often? There seems to be a lot less competition (presumably because our competitors haven't worked out how to provide the feed to Google yet!), so I imagine it should be easier and quicker to reach the top this way than any other way. Thanks! Alex

Strange Top URLs for Keywords in Google Webmaster Tools
When we click on one of our keywords under the keywords section of Google Webmaster Tools it shows our top URLs for that keyword. The problem is that it is giving us some very strange URLs that we have searched high and low to try to find but we don't know where they came from. Here is a screenshot: http://bit.ly/pl6mB3 Do you know where this type of URL string could have originated and how to fix it?
