Low PA high DA

I've been reviewing the PA and DA of news releases on PRWeb.com. While PRWeb has a very high DA=96, the vast majority of news releases have a PA=1, even those that are several months or several years old.
1. What is the affect of a follow back link with PA=1 and DA=96?
2. Although the vast majority of news releases have a PA=1, there are a few with a PA=40 plus. Further analysis revealed that these pages had one or two back links from other root domains. So, it appears that it is possible to boost the PA of your news release by linking to it from another root domain. Would it be advisable to link to your own news release from other root domains so as to boost the PA, and thus have back links to your site with a good PA and excellent DA?

The url for HPWhite press releases shows up as HPWhite.com on mozBar link analysis, but as the press release url for Golfer's Advice?!?!!?? Never seen that before.

I think the lack of domain authority has to do with the age of the press release and the OSE index. The page that has high PA was posted on November 02, 2011, the page with low PA was just posted yesterday December 19, 2011.
If you take a closer look at the November 02, 2011 post you will notice that a large majority of it's PA come's from a category link within PRweb.com (http://www.prweb.com/newsbycategory/automotive/2.htm). It is possible that the December 19 post has an equivalent category link which has yet to be indexed by the OSE.
Remember that PA and DA is determined by an algorithm and it's impossible to incorporated all of the changes on the internet in real-time. The OSE is probably not the best tool to use on extremely new pages.

If the articles on prweb.com don't have any links then they're going to struggle to get any page authority.
I've not done much work with press releases, butI always thought that the idea of press releases was to try and get your article picked up by other websites etc who will then also link back to you.
Isn't the goal here to get some high authority links on other sites (not just prweb) and even better, to get your article in front of your target audience and maybe earn some referrals too? I wouldn't expect many people to go looking for articles on the prweb site.
You could get trapped in a vicious circle if you start link building to your prweb articles - where do you stop and at the end of the day, wouldn't you be better off building links to the root content from lots of domains rather than from the one prweb.com domain? I thought the main idea was to try and earn links on the different sites your press release gets republished. The trick is to get your press release republished.
As with all content - are you press release articles link worthy? Do you provide a reason why someone would want to visit your site for more information because it's not all about search traffic! Have you written the press release in a way that makes it as easy as possible for someone to re-use/re-publish it on their site?
Also, how do you increase the odds that you get a link back when your press release is used? I guess you can include some relevant links in the body copy rather than just in the footer.)
As I mentioned, I've not had a lot of experience with press releases. Would love to know how people have used them successfully.

I earned some high-quality backlinks, but the target page's ranking is not improving. Why?
Within the last three months, I acquired five .EDU backlinks and two editorial links to a page ranking for a competitive keyword. After the first few links came through, the page jumped from #15 to #7. It stayed there with minor fluctuations for a couple weeks. I earned a couple more good links, and the page fell as far as #44. It has recovered a bit then, but has not returned to the first page. It is worth noting that the .EDU links were achieved by sponsoring university programs. Could Google possibly be recognizing this as a link scheme? Are the links being earned too quickly? I don't believe it could be either, as the links reside on high quality, trustworthy sites and there wasn't a sudden major influx of them. Thank you for your insight! Also, I think my username tricked Moz into thinking I'm a staffer. Not the case!

Why is my domain authority so low?
Hello, a couple of years ago I started publishing on my site more than 10 posts a day of content that no one else had. For this reason, my competitors started paraphrasing my content without giving proper attribution, and they ranked better in Google. That's why I realized that apart from creating content I had to work on my SEO, so I started to get some backlinks, most of them via contests on blogs. I am getting about 1 high quality link from PR2, PR3 or PR4 blogs each week. According to Open Site Explorer, I have 20 root domain links (200 total links). In reality I have more backlinks but they don't show up (they do show up in Ahrefs, about 50 root domains). To my surprise, I only have 15 Domain Authority. This is the most evident example, take a look at this screenshot: http://imgur.com/dFk2rkx My website is on the far left, two of my competitors on the right. As you can see I win every category except total links and the most important, domain authority. Are total links that important for Domain authority, even if 99% are internal? By the way, I also have more posts than these guys, I don't know why the report says otherwise. Why is the site on the right ranking so high? The same thing happens with the rest of my competitors, they have a lot of low quality links from "lists of domain sites" and in general a lot of very spammy links. According to what I have been reading, my good quality links should be more helpful than my competitors' spammy links, which should in fact affect them. So what is going on? Where can I find a list of the top DA websites on the web?
I'd like to find a ranking of the top DA websites on the web. I'm mostly interested in US websites. I'd like at least the top 10,000 or so but the more the better. Is there a way to get this data from OpenSiteExplorer or another source? Low Traffic, All Branded Keywords
I have a client that is strong locally - and the majority of the (converting) traffic that she gets is through branded keywords. Her traffic is at about ~200 visits a month. She is ranking for some non-branded keywords, but is in a highly competitive niche - gift baskets - and isn't converting for non-branded keywords. The domain authority of the website is at 27, with the homepage authority at 39. Because she is already strong locally I don't necessarily see the need to build local citations for her. What strategies would you suggest to help increase the traffic and conversion of her website? It isn't a new website - the domain was purchased in 2002. I'm just at a loss here in terms of what we can do as an SEO company to help her build an audience - we have already been writing guest posts for publication for her, and she doesn't have the budget for high-cost directories that would really help her authority. We haven't really ventured into conversion rate optimization or multivariate testing - but I feel like what needs to happen right now is the boosting of her traffic overall. What say you all?

List of High Ranking Directories
Hi, Does anyone have a list of high ranking free or almost free directories that have high search engine rankings and have an opportunity for a link or links for a personal development site in the USA? The directories should have the following qualities: Old Site Age A lot of unique content (or as much as a directory can have) A clean site Plenty of Backlinks going to it Facebook followers (if possible, though this might be stretching it) high search engine rankings I think you get the general idea. I'm looking for directories that are high ranking and in for the long haul. They don't have to be free, but it's best if it's inexpensive. Thanks!
