I tried the directorie list of seomoz, but almost all of them charged for the inclusion. This is a black hat situation?
-
I need backlinks for my site, and several places inform that directories are a good place. But they charge for the inclusion. Should I pay? This is a blackhat situation where I'm buying for links?
-
H Naghimiac,
Many directories charge, but this doesn't mean they are black hat. The key concept is editorial inclusion. A directory that accepts anyone is not a directory you want to be associated with. This includes directories filled with porn, gambling and payday loan sites.
On the other hand, the harder it is to get into a directory, the more value it usually passes. This is true even when the directory charges money for "review" services.
Be careful - directory listings are meant to enhance your backlink profile, not act as a foundation.
Here's a helpful article:

Best of luck!

Good... im afraid to be at the dark side...in gray side i can accept...thanks

Hi Naghirniac,
When you pay for a directory listing, you're paying for the review not the actual link. That being said, unless the directory is quality, don't go for it - money can be better spent elsewhere.
Good luck!

In an ideal world you wouldn't have to seek directories, however we aren't there quite yet and so they will give you a small boost in the meantime (whilst you are trying to build up other links).
I noticed that they were payable when I looked at them, I think from the point of view at SEOMoz, they are saying 'if you are going to use directories, these are the best'. Obviously the people that run them know that and thats why they can charge.
It would all depend on what you can afford. If $150 for a small, but likely, boost seems worthwhile to you then go for it.It's something that depends on the business you are working for and the situation (are links the thing what are letting you down)
It's more grey than black, there are much worse tactics you could employ towards link building.

How did these sites get two organic listings?
Hi Guys, If you type the keyword "car seat covers" on Google Australia. You will see one site screenshot below: https://image.prntscr.com/image/lgfcK6DmSSGRo3Jx06yWag.png With double listing and then a site below that with another double listing see: https://image.prntscr.com/image/4yJfPzRjR5mPaQb4rr9l-Q.png Does anyone know why Google is giving both of these double listings, is it something to do with their internal linking? Cheers.

Directory with Duplicate content? what to do?
Moz keeps finding loads of pages with duplicate content on my website. The problem is its a directory page to different locations. E.g if we were a clothes shop we would be listing our locations: www.sitename.com/locations/london www.sitename.com/locations/rome www.sitename.com/locations/germany The content on these pages is all the same, except for an embedded google map that shows the location of the place. The problem is that google thinks all these pages are duplicated content. Should i set a canonical link on every single page saying that www.sitename.com/locations/london is the main page? I don't know if i can use canonical links because the page content isn't identical because of the embedded map. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why does SEOmoz bot see duplicate pages despite I am using the canonical tag?
Hello here, today SEOmoz bot found and marked as "duplicate content" the following pages on my website: http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/PatrickCollectionFlPf.html?tab=mp3 http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/PatrickCollectionFlPf.html?tab=pdf And I am wondering why considering the fact I am using on both those pages a canonical tag pointing to the main product page below: http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/PatrickCollectionFlPf.html Shouldn't SEOmoz bot follow the canonical directive and not report those two pages as duplicate? Thank you for any insights I am probably missing here!

Places Listing in Search Results
Hi everyone, We have a company that hired us to set-up their Google Places listing for their 2nd location. The listing for the 1st location is very strong. Lots of reviews, Zagat rating, Knowledge graph, etc. In the search results the Google Places listing for the 1st location has merged with the website listing. You can see the link to the main site w/ a small grey google places listing directly below it. The client would like BOTH Google places listing to show up in the search results. They both show up on the map listing but not in the search results. Each location has its own listing in Google Places. We have also created different pages on the website for each location. Is there a way to get the search results to display places listings? I have noticed a few other business have done it by naming each of their multiple locations something slightly different. Then the search results seem to realize there are multiple locations and display the places listing in the search results. Anyone run into this? Any ideas? Thanks!!

How would I be able to make sure Google lists search results as a combined listing opposed to a single listing/
I am slightly confused about how to let Google know to index our site as a complex listing opposed to individual page listing. Our site is well established and has over 3500 indexes. Does this have to do with the Sitemap or is it something else? Is there a way to expedite Google to list our site like the example below. Thank you for your help!
