How did NexTag.com Survive the Algorithm Update?

After going through numerous post-algo update articles I find one price comparison site to have gone though unscratched - NexTag.com
Question: What contributed to their success? Was it sheer domain authority, content quality, unique toolset... or something else?

The top three gainers from the farmer update was Amazon.com, eHow.com and NexTag.com.

The authority built up from being one of those older properties has to carry a lot of weight. The majority of the losers from the farmer update are content farms, but where we see eHow survive I'd wager comes from eHow being the origin of many pieces of the content that is being farmed out.
This, to me, relates to Local Search. Sites like Localeze are the source of much scraped data that other directories use to show addresses, business categories, etc. So Localeze as the source for this data has authority, where the individual pages that it enters data into does not have that same authority, and protection.
Duplicate content can be tracked to an origin, the time the post was made, the time Google first crawled it, etc. So in NexTag's case, being the origin for so many things, I'd say it was safe. NexTag is also very trusted by Google, they have had a Google Shopping relationship for years because Google, and this is just my observation, but Google feels they can trust NexTag's system to deliver a viable product when their links are clicked.
I'd wager also that NexTag had a much better link portfolio than the losers, so those trying to copy the NexTag model were shot down in favor of the original provider.

Post-August Google Updates High volume keyphrases rankings mess
Howdy, fellow mozzers, Couple of our clients keep losing rankings, slowly but surely, which seem to correlate to August Google updates. No major changes to the websites have been done - neither code, backlink profile nor content. It seem to affect higher search volume keyphrases, while other longer tail keyphrases are climbing up. The screenshots of the visibility rankings are attached below. Any ideas/news/thought about the Google update itself or what might be happening? I know that the Medic update was overall quality, yet it seems to be that these websites in particular are going down after Birthday update, not Medic itself. Google and da mighty Internets being quite.. Help! Have we been hit by an update?
Hi Everyone : ) We have an E-commerce website has been getting less and less organic traffic each month since October 2015 after it had received a massive spike overnight! I can't see any logical reason for it or find any updates that would have caused this. Have anyone got an idea? Google update January 2015
Hello, In January 2015, google changed its European Algorithm. The change decreased the ranking of some of our keywords but not all. See article for more evidence in google changing its algorithm. https://www.seroundtable.com/google-update-maybe-19760.html The biggest change was the keyword phrase ‘Wholesale Silver Jewellery’ which we ranked 1 in SERP, but now we’re nowhere to be seen. However, the change didn’t affect our keyword phrase ‘Wholesale Jewellery Silver’, ’Wholesale Silver’ and ‘Wholesale Jewellery. We’ve been through our data and see that all of our ’Silver Jewellery’ keyword phrases are no longer showing in the SERP. Further research has shown that our competitors were also dropped down the rankings for the same keyword phrase. Our question is: Why has this update affected certain keyword phrases, such as ‘silver jewellery’ but not ‘jewellery silver’ and how should we over come this? Additional Information

If you type in our company name ‘Mainly Silver’ or ‘mainlysilver’ were still showing in SERP, however if you type ‘mainlysilver jewellery’ we’re no where to be found. We’ve even checked ‘site:mainlysilver.co.uk silver jewellery’ in google search and it returns with ‘no results found’. Https & Google Updated Guidelines
Hi We have https on aspects of the site which users directly interact with, such as login, basket page. But we don't have https across the whole site. In light of Google adding it to their guidelines - is this something we need to put into action? Also same question on the Accessibility point Ensure that your pages are useful for readers with visual impairments, for example, by testing usability with a screen-reader. Are we going to be penalised if these are not added to our site? Thank you

Rankings Gone? Have I been effected by the Panda/Penguin Update(s)?
Our site www.alphameasure.com has been online since 2005 and currently has a page rank of 4. The site has always ranked on page one or two of Google for our primary keywords (Employee Satisfaction Survey, Employee Engagement Survey, Employee Surveys). I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but now our site is nowhere to be found. I'm thinking our ranking dropped somewhere in mid to late January? We did use an SEO company in the spring of 2012 that went on a link building campaign for us. They added about 450 inbound links over a three month period. Other than that - nothing has really change on the site. We're getting ready to release a new version of our software that was being re-written during all of 2012, so the timing of losing our rankings is just awful. Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated? Thanks in advance,

When did Google include display results per page into their ranking algorithm?
It looks like the change took place approx. 1-2 weeks ago. Example: A search for "business credit cards" with search settings at "never show instant results" and "50 results per page", the SERP has a total of 5 different domains in the top 10 (4 domains have multiple results). With the slider set at "10 results per page", there are 9 different domains with only 1 having multiple results. I haven't seen any mention of this change, did I just miss it? Are they becoming that blatant about forcing as many page views as possible for the sake of serving more ads?

New Search Engine.... Vanoogle.com
I'd like to see google start a new search engine. They might call it Vanoogle.com (Vanilla Google). This search engine would not be stinked up with social data, freshness inclusions, crap from my last query, skewed based upon my IP, warped because of my browser, targeted because of my cookies, no personalization, no image results, product results, none of that stuff. Ads are OK if labeled. I just want a plain vanilla search. Something that I know is "clean". Just like the good olde days. Millions of people will start using it right away. 🙂 Would you use Vanoogle.com?
