Keyword/Content Consistency

My question is: If you have a keyword that is searched more when it's spelled wrong then when it's spelled right - what do you do? Do you do the misspelled word or keep true to the spelling and say oh well to SEO?
Also - Along the same lines of that question: What if you have a keyword that has a - in the middle of it. For instance: website and web-site (this isn't the keyword just an example). and drupal website is searched more then drupal web-site but wordpress web-site is searched more then wordpress website. Technically website is the correct spelling and way to write it, but people put web-site (again not the case in reality - just an example).

I would mix it up a bit. Don't try for a percentage though, just go with it. Search for "wifi" and note that the top result is wikipedia, and they use Wi-Fi in the title tag and yet it is still bolded. This is why I say SEs see them as the same words. If it makes sense to pepper the different uses, and both are grammatically correct, go for it. Just don't waste a lot of time doing it as I don't think the returns are great enough.

Thanks Kate - I don't really have a specific keyword in mind. But I did some research and another good example is Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi and WiFi are both searched different amounts. Wi-Fi is the right way to spell it but WiFi is searched more in MOST cases. There ARE instances that it is not. So WiFi Services is searched more than Wi-Fi Services however Wi-Fi Consulting is searched mroe than WiFi Consulting. So should I keep with one spelling throughout the site or mix it up according to the keyword?

It helps if we know the exact keyword you are talking about, but alsvik is right. SEs generally get that web-site and website are the same word. "And" and "&" are considered the same. "Auto refinance" and "Car refinance" are sometimes used interchangably. It is all based on the intent of the searcher. If the mis-spelling or stop in the middle of the phrase changes the intent, that changes things. But I can't know without knowing the word.
When it comes to what to use on the site, misspelling or not (see what I did there with the misspelling usage?), use what makes sense in the context of the page. Don't misspell just to add the word in there. If it's a product page, you might allow reviews, which should add natural variation. But don't misspell just for the sake of adding the term. I can almost guarantee the SEs know that the misspelling is the same as the correctly spelled term.
Now when it comes to the hypen words (misspelling, mis-spelling) ... if it makes sense to pepper them in the text and they are both accepted variations, can't hurt to use them. But I don't think it'll make a giant difference. And please, don't worry about the meta keywords tag, using that does nothing but hurt you.

I said that it wasn't the keyword issue I was having - I was using it as an example. The issue is more of a general question. If you have a word that is suppose to be spelled with a "-" but more people search without, should you do the proper thing and put the - or do it without to go after high searched keywords? it's also a consistency question too. Sometimes different forms of that keyword are used, so should you use the "-" throughout or do whatever the best keyword is. Is user experience and consistency more important than SEO?

I've noticed that google does include hits with "website" when you search for "web-site" - and Google Keyword tool give them same number of searches on the two spellings - so i wouldnt do anything extraordinary to "fix" this issue.
We have actually included a mispelled word in our keywords (i know: very low impact or none) but we see a great deal of customers spelling i.e. Gran Canaria as Grand Canaria og Gran Carina.
If i write "Travels for Gran Ca..." (in my native language) Google suggest "Travels for Gran Carina" ... So we included it in the keyword list. But i have no idea what best practice is!

Keyword stuffing in document
Hi, I recieve a grade A on my on page grader, however i get "Avoid Keyword Stuffing in Document" - now on my page, i am not sure if its avoidable. It says this is highly important, but here is the issue. My website specialises in a particular product, so we have many variations of that product, different fabrics, styles, trimmings etc, so we have over 50 URLS pertaining to different variations of that "keyword" it's not in a spammy way, its actually done as customers are searching for it that way. Let's say for example scarves. Cotton Scarves, Viscose Scarves, Polyester Scarves, Pom Pom Scarves, etc etc So on my homepage even if i reduce the text mentions of "scarves" the urls still have 50 or so with it as the title, and in the URL. So how do i avoid this form of "keyword Stuffing" ?

Content suggestions and topics
Hello, In the list of topics that moz recommends, how many of the topics that are recommend should I cover just 2 or 3 or 10 of them ? is the more the better ? Then let's say one of the topic recommended is tennis should I just add the topic tennis once in my content or do I need to cover this topic multiple times ? meaning write the topic tennis 3 times across my content ? Links / Metadata around Recent Posts etc in Wordpress / Blog - Good SEO Practice?
Hello In a Wordpress blog ( or part of an ecommerce site that runs under wordpress ) it is good to show recent posts in the sidebar on most pages. Obviously the posts aren't going to be relevant to every post , so my questions are: Is having these on the page hurting SEO for the page? Is there good metadata structure to put in there? ( like rel="nofollow" or similar ) Thoughts?

Many pages small unique content vs 1 page with big content
Dear all, I am redesigning some areas of our website, eurasmus.com and we do not have clear what is the best

option to follow. In our site, we have a city area i.e: www.eurasmus.com/en/erasmus-sevilla which we are going
to redesign and a guide area where we explain about the city, etc...http://eurasmus.com/en/erasmus-sevilla/guide/
all with unique content. The thing is that at this point due to lack of resources, our guide is not really deep and we believe like this it does not
add extra value for users creating a page with 500 characters text for every area (transport...). It is not also really user friendly.
On the other hand, this pages, in long tail are getting some results though is not our keyword target (i.e. transport in sevilla)
our keyword target would be (erasmus sevilla). When redesigning the city, we have to choose between:
a)www.eurasmus.com/en/erasmus-sevilla -> with all the content one one page about 2500 characters unique.
b)www.eurasmus.com/en/erasmus-sevilla -> With better amount of content and a nice redesign but keeping

Keyword not ranking but keyword within a phrase is?
Hi Guys, Google is not indexing the keyword ‘e liquid’ for www.cloudstix.com/e-liquid and it's driving me insane. I cannot understand why, can anyone please shed any light! -On page we have used variations e liquid, e-liquid, eliquid. -The e-liquid product pages are canonicaled to www.cloudstix.com/e-liquid. -3 other pages regarding e liquid were 301 redirected to the page passing good authority. I did this as I believed these pages conflicted as they seemed to target e-liquid. -‘e-liquid’ is being used as an anchor throughout the website pointing to www.cloudstix.com/e-liquid. -The ‘e liquid’ page has generally good authority PA 22, DA26. -The website has good anchor text linking to the site, all relative and e liquid related, along with brand links. Currently the keyword ‘e liquid’ brings up the home page www.cloudstix.com ranked 100+. What’s strange is the other terms relating to 'e liquid' bring up www.cloudstix.com/e-liquid for example: ‘e liquid uk’ ‘the best e liquid’ and ‘e liquid cloudstix’. Any ideas on what the problem may be. Would appreciate any advice on this. Thanks guys! Liam

Keyword Spy Source?
We've got a few backlinks from Keyword Spy and Keyword Spy Pro. I'm pretty sure of the answer but I'll ask it anyway. Is there any way to determine who's doing the snooping? Are there any signals to look for while clicking back through the link "crumbs" that might tell me something of interest or value?

It's good, unique content that's useful.The PDF has it's own non-commercial page. We will be doing email outreach with buzzstream. Is it important to never ask for a link in the first email? We're offering one of the following four in exchange for the link (they get to choose one): 1. A link back on one of our other sites in the same niche (not reciprocal link) 2. $100 in adwords traffic including up to 20 keywords. 3. Facebook share of their URL 4. Tweet of their URL Let me stop there and see what your feedback is. We're looking for (about) how many emails to send out building relationships before making the above offer. Or is there some way to make the offer immediately? Also, what makes a good subject line? Rand seems to indicate that you can make the offer right away in this whiteboard friday but every other article and video I've watched have said to build a relationship first. Worth removing keywords...?
I was just going over a site I manage and noticed it had a load of meta keywords on it. Probably 10-15 keywords per page... Do you think this is harming the site? Is it worth removing them?
