Redirection to mobile site
-
Calling all SEO ninjas!
I'm currently developing single web pages for various clients which function as abbreviated versions of their main websites. They are all related & under a single domain.
When a user visits these pages on a mobile device, CSS is used to display mobile friendly versions of these pages.
My clients are thrilled with these mobile versions and now want to also redirect mobile visitors from their main site (which is not mobile optimised) to these pages.
My questions are:
-
Are there any negative implications if we did this? ie. redirecting to a different domain
-
What is the best method for redirection? eg. JavaScript
-
Can this be achieved by adding a single line of code to their main site
-
Can this be done in an SEO friendly way so that the redirection acts like a backlink?
Many thanks.

Hi Marty,
I can say that we have done that. There is a single line of code that you can add to the main website. It detects the browser and opens the mobile version of the website if accessed via mobile.Unfortunately, it does it for iPads too as it treats them as mobile devices; apart from that there are no negative implications.
I have no idea about #4 but it makes marketing sense to mention your mobile website, if any on your home page.

301 redirect with DNS?
Quick question. Is it possible to 301 redirect a non-www to www. (properly in terms of SEO) with DNS (C Name, A name, or other) ..have searched around and found conflicting information. Would like to know a definite answer. I usually implement all 301 redirects with htaccess. However have a client situation where we only have access to the CMS, but which does have DNS settings. thanks in advance, Greg

To redirect or not to redirect, that is the question
I work for a software company that is redeveloping the website (same domain.) We have tons of content in the form of articles and documents for support, how to use the product better, case studies, and blog posts. I've downloaded a landing page report and many of these have low impressions and little or no clicks (some ranked high other very low.) Should I redirect all this content to the new site where some of it won't exist or forget about it because of the lack of juice? Is there a rule-of-thumb threshold for redirecting for content?

Is my site being penalized?
I've gone through all the points on https://mza.seotoolninja.com/blog/technical-site-audit-for-2015 but the site only ranks for its brand name after months. The website is not ranking in the top 100 for any main keywords (2,3,4 word phrases), only for a handful of very long phrases (4+). All of the content is unique, all pages are indexed, the website is fast and doesn't contain any crawl errors and there are a couple of links pointing to it. There is a sitewide follow link in the footer pointing to another domain, its parent company and vice-versa. This is not done for any SEO reasons but the companies are related and also the products are supplementary of each other. Could this be an issue? Or is my site being penalized by something else?

On-Site Optimization Tips for Job site?
I am working on a job site that only ranks well for the homepage with very low ranking internal pages. My job pages do not rank what so ever and are database driven and often times turn to 404 pages after the job has been filled. The job pages have to no content either. Anybody have any technical on-site recommendations for a job site I am working on especially regarding my internal pages? (Cross Country Allied.com) Any help would be much appreciated.
