You notice rankings go up when..
-
you link out to wikipedia?
I feel there are always benefits to linking out to authority sites like this
-
I agree with both you guys...
Gone are the days of outbound links hurting your authority. Be useful to users. Users enjoy usefulness. Google gauges your site's usefulness by the behavior of it's visitors...
What's better for your rankings?
A user clicks through to your site, then realizes "This isn't what I'm looking for" and clicks the back button... bouncing to Google in hopes to find the content they're actually seeking OR...
A user clicks through to your site, exclaimes "Hallelujah! I found it!" and clicks from your site to the content... they give it a good look, and the click back to your site, which was so very helpful.
You get the point. Too many hours in front of the screen for me today.
Donnie said it in a sentence...

Disavowed links, updated website etc - still no ranking improvements
Hi, Could anyone take a look at www.artificialgrass4u.co.uk - a few years ago it used to rank highly for 'artificial grass' ... then when Google rolled out its algorithms punishing websites with poor links it lost all it's rankings. We've disavowed almost all of the bad links, and have been adding new optimised content etc over the past few months but rankings still haven't improved. Is there anything I'm missing? Thanks

New site pages are indexed but not ranking for anything
I just built this site for a client http://primedraftarchitecture.com. It went live 3 weeks ago and the pages are getting indexed as per Webmaster Tools. But I'm not seeing it rank for anything. We're adding blog articles regularly and used Moz Local for local links and have been building links in other local directories (probably about 15 so far). Usually I get some rankings, although very low, after just a week or two for new sites. Does anyone see anything glaring that may be causing a problem?

Rankings drop since switch to https
Switched hosting companies, and then switched to https for the entire marketing site as a result of needing the security for the signups. Rankings in several (most areas) have tanked since then. Site hasn't changed otherwise, is responsive, fast, and spidered well. See: http://pisoftware.com I FEEL like the redirection is being handled properly, but I can't be sure. Moz reporting duplicate content on the homepage between http and https - but I honestly don't know why. Any help - ANY - is appreciated. Hair being pulled out, and I don't think I'll look good completely bald. 🙂 Kelly

Does a phone number in the title tag hurt your rankings in SERP?
Hi Mozzers, One of my client is a carpet cleaner and I was wondering if adding a phone number into the title tags would hurt our rankings . I am asking because the client has mentioned it and that we do have some space to add a phone number into the tag. Thanks
