Best place to have blog reside
-
So... I have a fairly new wordpress blog at myblog.com, but the ultimate goal is to drive traffic and increase rankings for mysite.com.
With the rise of twitter/facebook influences do you think best to migrate the blog to a directory within www.mysite.com aka www.mysite.com/blog and then 301 direct all the existing pages to the new pages created or is it better to keep the 2 domains seperate and then just have links in the navigation of both sites to each other?
My initial thoughts are to incorporate it within www.mysite.com/blog but not 100% sure?
Quick follow up question.. Is there an easy code snipit to add to the .htaccss file to 301 direct myblog.com to mysite.com/blog?
Thanks for any help and thought on this!
John

I agree with the other responders here. As long as it's on-topic, it's generally best to put your blog in a subfolder and keep everything on the same domain.

I agree we always put the blogs on mysite.com/blog to build the main site.
Another option that is done is to get a keyword rich domain for the blog and try to rank on that keyword - the down side is you now are doing seo on 2 sites and your blog isnt branded as yours.

Though it depends on how much authority you've been able to build with the old myblog.com domain, it is typically much better to keep everything on one site to consolidate your links and increase brand awareness.
If you don't have too many pages and links on the old domain, I would recommend following your gut and using 301 redirects to conserve most of your authority on mysite.com/blog.

2 Facebook Company Pages - Best way to merge
Hi I am about to set up a Facebook company page under our current brand name Key - however in March we'll be re-branding to Manutan UK. I didn't want to wait until March to start using Facebook (we're so behind!) but when we re-brand what are the best steps to take. Here are my options - I'd love some help! 1. Set up a Key company to actively use now & a separate Manutan page just to secure the page - only using Key until March then merge the business pages (I did read however Facebook won't allow it if the names are different?) 2. Set up a Key page now & in March request a name change of the page & vanity URL We obviously don't want to lose any likes/followers we've gained between now & March Does anyone have any advice or experience with this? Thank you

Which is best for SEO: Dedicated landing pages for contests or templated page URL?
A colleague and I were having a discussion about this and wanted to get insight from the community about this. Most often we run contests on social channels, but for some we place them on our e-commerce web site - particularly those which have a universal appeal to customers since these also tend to be included in our e-mails. So our question is with regard to any links built to those contest pages, is it better to: have them point to a unique page, Example: domain.com/customer-appreciation-contest OR A reusable page/URL that can continuously be repurposed and updated for new contests. Example: domain.com/contests We discussed pros/cons of each but am curious if anyone here has insight or source that definitively advises which method is best. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Blog Comments
Hey guys, My question is about blog comments. I have them disabled on my blog simply because I didn't want to have to deal with them. I get reasonably good traffic to my blog (mainly from my facebook fanpage). Am I making a mistake by having comments disabled? What about WP Plugins like CommentLuv. Will having this enabled hurt my SEO? What if I make every comment need approval and keep the Spam out? And finally, does commenting on others blogs that do have CommentLuv enabled help? Thanks!

Best way to keep in touch with Twitter leads
On Twitter every now and then I have a conversation with a few people that lasts couple days. Then the conversation dies down and a different conversation with a few other followers begins. What do you guys do to keep in touch with the followers from the older conversations and perhaps start new ones? Do any of the online tools help with that?

Bringing a Google+ business page and a Google+ Local (Places) page together
We have a Google+ business page @ https://plus.google.com/105699067779457680386 (therefore the managers of that page log in with their personal Google accounts to use Google+ as the business page). We had/have a Google Places listing tied to our company Google account, and that does show up in Google+ Local. I simply would like to marry the two so they can live together in perfect harmony. But that does not seem straightforward at all. If I'm logged in with our company Google account, I am asked to "join" Google+, but I don't want our company to be a "person" on Google Plus (just a Business Page). If I'm logged in with my personal Google account, and switch to using Google+ as our business page, and then click to claim/edit our Google+ Local listing, that doesn't work because I'm not logged in under our corporate Google account. It's an Internet mystery. Mozzers, assemble!

Best practices to add Facebook comments to wordpress blog?
Our website (noahsdad.com) has a very large and active Facebook group (http://facebook.com/noahsdadcom). Often there are more comments on the Facebook posting of a link, than on the blog post itself. I try to get people go and leave comments on the blog, but they don't get it. So I'd like to try to find a way to get Facebook comments to transfer to our site. I"m not sure the best way to do this....either via a plug in, or via these instructions https://developers.facebook.com/attachment/Comments_Best_Practices_FINAL.pdf/ I'd just like to get it going..and not mess up the comment's I have now. (Also not everyone has Facebook, so I'd like them to still be able to comment the 'old' way (name/email). Hoping someone can help point me in the right direction with this. Thanks.

What is the best social backlink checker available right now?
I want a tool that i can enter a domain into and get all the social backlinks available. Preferably the tool that keeps the most recent database of this information. I'm willing to pay for the tool, it does not need to be free. Not sure if i'm using the right terminology here, by "social backlinks" i mean Facebook Shares, Twitter RT's, Google +'s, etc.
