Best way to do a 301 redirect when the incorrect page has rank and FB likes
-
Due to a site structural problem with our CMS we have alot of duplicate content pages (1 page, with multiple urls). We are in the process of setting up 301 redirects to correct the problem. Meanwhile; one of the pages with the "incorrect" URL happens to be the page google favors and also has about 100 FB "likes".
The question is: Are we better off keeping the "incorrect" URL for that particular page and redirect the other url to it? Both have a page rank of 3.
Thanks

There is only one article, but 2 unique links to it. In most cases we do know how they are created, but don't have a solution for it. In the meantime, we need to redirect those urls to the correct url.

It would appear that you are creating duplicates of your articles/posts which is why Google is indexing the two urls. Your question should therefore by how are you creating duplicates of your articles/posts?
I suspect the problem lies with your CMS. Either a setting somewhere or a conflicting plugin could be the cause but without knowing what CMS you are using I can only speculate.

We have a "planned" link structure like:
/Articles/Category/article_name.aspx
but Google has (not sure how yet) indexed that url like this:
/Articles/article_name.aspx (missing the category name)
So by incorrect I mean they are indexing the both urls, and 1st format is correct and the 2nd format is incorrect.

First I have to ask what you mean by "incorrect" url? Do you mean the url has been spelt incorrectly? Or do you mean that the url does not have the correct keyword included? Or.... etc.
Without understanding what you mean by "incorrect" url I can only advise based on what you've said. If you have multiple urls with the same content and you would like to keep one then I would suggest you keep the page with the most value. In this case it is obviously the page with FB likes and higher Google ranking.

Our travel website has a number of different places listed. The layout of each place is the same as the next. On place ranks on page 1 for its keywords where as others do not. Is there a tool of some description that may identify why this is.

Best way to get the fastest WordPress site with existing template
I have a WordPress website that I started building for free and eventually paid the $50 bucks for the premium version. My goal right now is to increase the speed. The current speed rating for the site on Google Insights is 60/100 for mobile and 66/100 for desktop. I have used some plugins to help me increase the speed, but the previous number were the best I could do. How can I get this site at least into the 90/100 range? Should I buy another template, or can I hire someone to go through and optimize it. I would like the best option that is as cost effective as possible as this is a hobby site for me. Thanks!

Page Layout Updates and Mobile Pages with Ads
I have been trying to do some research on the Page Layout Algorithm and Top Heavy Ads and much of what I read does not mention about mobile pages as apposed to desktop. I am curious if the Page Layout updates can be effected by mobile pages as well and if there is any good articles on this subject. Also is this Algorithm been incorporated into its regular algorithm or do we still have to wait for refreshes to see the impact? Cesar

Best Way To Pass Rank To Follow Up Article?
What is the best way to pass rank to a follow-up article? For example, we write an article "Product A Rumors" that ends up ranking #1. When Product A is released, we write an article called "Product A Review". What is the best way to pass rank from the first pre-release article to the second post-release article? We don't want to do a simple 301 redirect as we want readers to be able to go back to the first article to see the progression of the Product A life-cycle. Also, should we go back and edit the old article to add a link to the new? Should we add a link in the new article to the old? Thanks in advance 😉

301 redirect OK for a newer version of a page that is a different url?
I have about 500 products with multiple urls for the same product, but different versions. I sell wine and have a different page for each vintage. I've decided that is not the best way to go, and want to point the older vintage pages to the latest version page, and make that the only page for the product as time goes on. Do I have to put a link in the text from each older page to the newer, or can I use a 301 to redirect them to the new page? I don't want google to think I'm pulling something funny.

Ranking on page 5 for a 1% difficulty keyword
Hello mozers, I am going crazy over this. I have designed a new site www.smh.cz. The company name / kw is unique (Smolikova Mikulas Hendrich), but it appears on page 5 on Google.

Yahoo and Bing is fine (in top 3 positions). All the on-page factors are ok too.
All the smh.cz pages are indexed on Google. We have done a 301 redirect of two other domains (sm-legal.cz and smm-partners.cz) which were websites for the firms prior to forming a new one. I am scratching my head over what does Google dislike so much. Any thoughts? Can the smh.cz domain - which previously had some dodgy insurance content - be the reason? Your help is much appreciated.
