What to get from google Webmaster tools?
-
Hi everyone,
I've been doing optimization for our websites and tracking the results regularly but don't really know what the results actually mean. I heard that I need to check the traffic and organic results from Google analytics and Google webmaster tools. Everybody says something and not sure what to do?
Is there anyone clarify the SEO process for me - when to do what and why in simplest way?
Thanks in advance,

"I've been doing optimization for our websites and tracking the results regularly but don't really know what the results actually mean."
This is quite a broad statement. I'll take it that you already understand the important parts of the optimization process. So, the first question to address would be: What results were you trying to achieve?
If all you're going for is "more traffic," then you can simply look at Analytics and see whether or not organic traffic has noticeably risen or fallen to get a measure of your success. If your goal is more business, then you need to start looking at conversions and specific page flow within Analytics.
For instance, say you run an e-commerce site... perhaps you should look at the number of hits to the "thank you" page that users see after making a purchase. Is it getting more hits than it has in the past, and if so, does the increase in hits there correlate with your increased traffic, and does all of that together correlate with your SEO efforts? In a perfect world, things would look like this:
- Optimize your site
- Traffic noticeably increases
- Conversions noticeably increase
I'm sorry if this is all a little broad... it might help if we know exactly what "results" you'd like to track.

Google webmaster tools hiccup?
Our flagship website, up until March 16 was getting 1600 impressions and 300 branded clicks per day as per GWT. After 3/16, branded search fell to 300 impressions and 25 clicks per day. Our rankings haven't changed, and neither has our traffic. We would definitely notice the decline in GA and Core Metrics, and it is running about the same. according to GWT, 75% fewer people started searching for our brand on 3/16, but all of our other metrics are indicating otherwise. Has anyone seen this before? Is it a tracking issue on our side?

Google Analytics Tracking Code Problems
I am having a problem with my Google Analytics tracking codes. The relevant GA tracking codes have been entered into the source code of certain sites I'm running campaigns on, but Google Analytics is still telling me that the tracking code hasn't been installed - yet it has. What could possibly be the problem here? I have checked that these sites don't run off multiple domains, and that the tracking code has been entered in the correct place within the source code - and yet I am still having problems with GA. Any suggestions?

Have we been penalised by Google?
Hello guys, Looking for some help here hope someone will be able to point us to the right direction, we have been scratching our heads for months! Basically our Google rankings and organic traffic from Google have dropped signficantly in the last 12 months. At one point we ranked as high as page 3 with the term "holiday lettings". Now we are on page 16, and sometimes not found at all... This has been the case for months now. Curiously, Bing and Yahoo have been much more generous to us, we have been and still consistently rank at No. 2 with the same term. We are in the vacation rental industry - our website is www.alphaholidaylettings.com and most of the sites that rank above us are of much less relevancy, quality and authority. We just could not understand why we would rank so poorly on Google (both US and UK). Organic traffic has also dropped by more than 50% steadily in the last 12 months. One thing we thought might have affected our site is the quality of content. Most content/listings on our site are user generated, and it is not uncommon for users to copy and paste details from an existing listing that they have on another site. Having said that, the same would apply to our competitors too. In this case, might Panda or Penguin have had any negative effects on our seo? We have been adding unique content to the site in the form of a blog and "Holiday Feature" articles. Could the actual design/structure/coding of our pages contribute to our poor rankings too? Any opinions or feedback is much appreciated! Thanks guys, Tom

My own brand searches stopped appearing in google
Hi everyone, I've never asked a question here before, so go easy on me 🙂 I've noticed recently that my site is not showing up for my own brand searches anymore, and that my organic google results are way down. For example, it used to be if you would search for "grouvee kings quest 6" you would either see http://www.grouvee.com/news/kings-quest-6-retro-rerun-playthrough-part-1/63/ or http://www.grouvee.com/games/kings-quest-vi-heir-today-gone-tomorrow/69/ show up first in google. Now they're nowhere to be found. Here's another example. If you would search for "grouvee mass effect 3" you'd either see http://www.grouvee.com/games/mass-effect-3/75/ or http://www.grouvee.com/news/mass-effect-3-lets-take-the-earth-back/136/ show up first in google. Once again, nowhere to be found. I could go on with several other examples, but I don't really know what I've done. I 301 redirected 2 pages a few weeks ago because I added a /reviews/ structure to my site and needed to move a couple of pages that used to be under /news/ over to the new section, but those shouldn't have had anything to do with the pages I referenced above. I haven't done any link building really. I submit some of my articles occasionally to places like reddit or n4g, but that's about it. Anyone have any tips or things I should be looking at?
