3 URLS Being Created All For The Same Page
-
I use wordpress for my blog and for some reason it is creating triple urls for my pages. I am not sure it has always been like this or not. I just noticed it in the errors section of SEO Moz.
http://www.kisswedding.com/blog/?gid=7&r=20
http://www.kisswedding.com/blog/ashley-and-daniels-rainy-day-diy-farm-wedding/?gid=7&r=20
http://www.kisswedding.com/blog/ashley-and-daniels-rainy-day-diy-farm-wedding/
It's all the exact same page. Is there something I can do in my settings to make this stop. I don't imagine this is good. Ya think....ha!
I saw this is the SEO Moz error area for Missing Title Tags.
Apparently the number has gone from 200 to 400 which is weird because I never gave my blog posts meta stuff and I haven't written 200 pages since SEO Moz's last crawl.
Maybe I changed something on my blog settings without even knowing. I can't think for the life of me what that would be though. Thanks so much and I appreciate any help received.
Edited to add:
I added some plugins over the past week. Maybe it's one of these?
- Category Text
- Category SEO Meta Tags (just deactivated this one)
- PhotoSmash (also deactivated this one)
- Clicky for WordPress
-
I meant that I added canonical tags to my site after I noticed almost the exact same thing that you did so I was suggesting that you do the same. Sorry for the confusion. And yes, I was suggesting that perhaps SEOMOZ changed something with their crawl since we both noticed the same thing around the same time.

Hi Joel Thank you so much responding.
I deleted the plugins I've installed in the last little bit and those urls still seem to exist. It's really quite astonishing all of the ways a plugin can mess things up really badly. Wouldn't Google Panda see it as duplicate content?
Anyways... I can't see how any of the following could have created these pages. You???
- Akismet
- GetClicky for WordPress
- Custom sidebars
- Easy Scheduled Posts
- Formidable
- JJ NextGen Image List
- NextGEN Gallery
- NextGEN Gallery Voting
- ShareThis Social Profiles Widget
Are those pages seriously going to exist even if I delete the plugin that may have created them. Man...that makes me SO mad!!!
If I do the canocial thing does anyone know how I set it up?

Hi there,
Sorry for the confusion. That is definitely something with how your blog is set up. It's likely that some sort of category plug in or something along those lines is creating those pages for you in the name of redundancy.
I would suggest you either get rid of the plugin or apply the Canonicals as mentioned by Billy. that way they would at least not be fighting over rankings.
I've heard great things about the Yoast plugin mentioned earlier. I've not personally used it, but it has quite the reputation. It may be worth checking out.
Thanks,
Joel.

Hi Billy.
Thank you so much. BUT, I don't think I understand what you're saying.
Are you saying you think that SEO Moz might have updated something in the way that their system works???
Also, how could you have added canocial tags if you don't have access to anything related to my site?
-
You know, all of the sudden our tracking code added to our pages started counting as separate URLs on our SEOMOZ report. So, I wonder if they made some update... anyway, I just went and added canonical tags to all of our pages (I should have done that anyway to be honest). If you are using WordPress than I would suggest the Yoast plug in...

Why are only a few of our pages being indexed
Recently rebuilt a site for an auctioneers, however it has a problem in that none of the lots and auctions are being indexed by Google on the new site, only the pages like About, FAQ, home, contact. Checking WMT shows that Google has crawled all the pages, and I've done a "Fetch as Google" on them and it loads up fine, so there's no crawling issues that is standing out. I've set the "URL Parameters" to no effect too. Also built a sitemap with all the lots in, pushed to Google which then crawled them all (massive spike in Crawl rate for a couple days), and still just indexing a handful of pages. Any clues to look into would be greatly appreciated. https://www.wilkinsons-auctioneers.co.uk/auctions/

Looking at creating some auto-generated pages - duplicate content?
Hi Everyone! We just launched a new version of our research site and the main CTA on the page sends users to a subdomain that's blocked by robots.txt. The subdomain link is one of our PPC landing pages and they would be duplicate content for every model (cars). We're also looking at a new content stream of deals pages, on the main domain. The thought process was that we could rank these pages for things like "Volkswagen golf deals" and also use them as canonical URLs from the PPC pages so that Panda doesn't get mad at us for sending hundreds of links to a subdomain that's blocked. It's going to take us a lot of time to write the copy for the deals pages, so if we auto-generate it by pulling a paragraph of copy from the car review, and numerical stats about that model, will it be classes as duplicate and/or is there any downside to doing it? Review Page: http://www.carwow.co.uk/car-reviews/Ford/Fiesta Deals Page: http://www.carwow.co.uk/deals/Ford/Fiesta PPC Landing Page: http://quotes.carwow.co.uk/buy/Ford/Fiesta I can't help but feel that this may all be a bit overkill and perhaps it makes more sense to build 1 central deals page per model with unique content that we can also send the PPC traffic to, then life any block from the quotes. subdomain. But that will take time and we'd also like a quick solution. I'd also question if it's even an issue to link to a blocked subdomain, Google adds the quote URL into the index but can't crawl it, which I've been told is bad - but is it bad enough to do something about? Thanks, JP

How to find original URLS after Hosting Company added canonical URLs, URL rewrites and duplicate content.
We recently changed hosting companies for our ecommerce website. The hosting company added some functionality such that duplicate content and/or mirrored pages appear in the search engines. To fix this problem, the hosting company created both canonical URLs and URL rewrites. Now, we have page A (which is the original page with all the link juice) and page B (which is the new page with no link juice or SEO value). Both pages have the same content, with different URLs. I understand that a canonical URL is the way to tell the search engines which page is the preferred page in cases of duplicate content and mirrored pages. I also understand that canonical URLs tell the search engine that page B is a copy of page A, but page A is the preferred page to index. The problem we now face is that the hosting company made page A a copy of page B, rather than the other way around. But page A is the original page with the seo value and link juice, while page B is the new page with no value. As a result, the search engines are now prioritizing the newly created page over the original one. I believe the solution is to reverse this and make it so that page B (the new page) is a copy of page A (the original page). Now, I would simply need to put the original URL as the canonical URL for the duplicate pages. The problem is, with all the rewrites and changes in functionality, I no longer know which URLs have the backlinks that are creating this SEO value. I figure if I can find the back links to the original page, then I can find out the original web address of the original pages. My question is, how can I search for back links on the web in such a way that I can figure out the URL that all of these back links are pointing to in order to make that URL the canonical URL for all the new, duplicate pages.

Multiple URLs
I'm trying to check the URLs of this site- http://www.ofo.com.au, and I see that their old site has 301 re-directed to it...but the site http://ofo.com.au and http://outdoorfurnitureoutlet.com.au are both still up and I can't see any 301 redirects from them. Is it a problem even if when I do a site: search for them I get no results?
